I think this company is a scam.
They don't screen the students very well and expect strangers to live in a homestay without providing ID. Student wouldn't show his passport, student ID or even show me his customs stamp from when he arrived in Canada, would even tell me his Last name. Why would any homestay host not get ID when a students wants to move into their home?????? He lied on his profile and said he was traveling to school by bus but actually he was doing online studies and said he was from Canada on his profile but he had flown in from Egypt, the night before. but then he told us he was at many homestay before coming to ours and only stayed for 1-2 weeks at a time. He had paid for the room and I did not get the proper conformation, I only got conformation that he was here to tour the room only, the student turned out to be rude threatening and demanding so I did not want him living in my home. I had only approved the tour NOT the rental.I contacted Homadorma and they told me I have to have him stay for the week trial for free then after the week I would get paid. The student wanted me to refund his money when in fact I did not receive money, only HOmadorma received his money. Who would have someone living in their home who was rude threatening and demanding and not get paid. I felt he was hopping around from Homestay to homestay every few weeks for free room and board. After a week he could leave and how would I contact him. Why would Homadorma collect payments for the room payment and not the homestay host. Messed up. DON'T use this company they are scammers. nothing protect the homeowner/Hosts and we have a student who is really a stranger living in our home who could be going through our important documents, NOT THANKS :(

Based on the review from the host, we would like to state a few points.
1. What the host stated in the review regarding the student information is not true. Unfortunately we cannot disclose the identity of the student in specifics in public, as it would mean a violation of privacy of our users. We have verified the ID of the student. The student is who he claims he is.
2. The host stated "I had only approved the tour NOT the rental.". This is not true. The student paid to book the homestay, and the host confirmed the booking.
3. The host stated "I contacted Homadorma and they told me I have to have him stay for the week trial for free then after the week I would get paid." This is not true. Trial week on homadorma is paid, not free.
4. The host stated "The student wanted me to refund his money when in fact I did not receive money, only HOmadorma received his money.". This is true. Homadorma is responsible for collecting the security deposit from the student, and transfer the security deposit to the host after the trial week. Or in your case, refund the student the security deposit in full since you refuse to honour the contract you signed.
5. The host stated "I felt he was hopping around from Homestay to homestay every few weeks for free room and board.". This is not true. When students pay to book homestay on homadorma, they make one month security deposit payment plus our service fee. The student has all the intention to stay in the homestay for long term.
6. The host asked "Why would Homadorma collect payments for the room payment and not the homestay host.". As the largest homestay platform in Canada, we provide valuable service to our students to help them find a suitable homestay in Canada, and avoid irresponsible host who, for example, refuse to honour agreement that they signed on homadorma. This is the reason the student pay us the service fee.

All of homadorma students who completed the stay are invited to review homestay experience. I gave 3 stars because the result is good and the staff works diligently, but there is a room to improve. As a new host, I don't have a whole picture of the process, and often get confused and frustrated. If the website could explain the whole process in the first place, that will be much easier for hosts and students.
