Homeaway is really bad
Homaway is really bad. The worst I have used. Difficult to contact unless they want your money then they are on you like a flash. Property descriptions just wrong. They refer you on to Homerez that appears to be a scam.

incorrect star rating and blocked review

I’ve booked with Home and away many times and always been happy with them until now. We refused to stay in one of the properties listed and travelled 9.5 hours back home as it didn’t live up to its reviews. I’ve now been blocked for writing a review (although managed to do so on trip advisor) and struggling to get hold of anyone at home and away....really disappointing service

Booked a property

Booked a property, payment plus insurance charge taken and then 10 minutes later property owner said it was already booked. Tried another property, Hawkshead Estates, payment taken again and owner contacted me to say they had cancelled their listing a month ago, property was already booked and getting a refund was my problem. Stay away from this website!!

Never go with Homeaway

Never go with Homeaway. This was our first and last time with these people. We were not allowed to go on holiday because of the Covid 19 restrictions. The only thing Homeaway did was to send the villa owner an email, they did say they would refund their service fee, yet to see this returned. Hopeless.
The villa owner in Puerto Pollensa had a no cancellation policy and he explained that even if you caught Covid 19 before going, had an accident and was in hospital before going or a close relative or you dies before going then NO REFUND. Shocking Luckily we managed only to pay the deposit 5000 euros or we could have lost the whole 10,000 euros So many people will be in the same situation as us. So angry that they can do this and get away with it.

Last review you asked me to send further details about my booking.
Still no reply.
I will not let this drop HomeAway so you need to start listening to your customers you have conned money out of.

Please note that HomeAway are an introduction agency only. They put you in touch with owners of villas and HomeAway accept absolutely no responsibility if things go wrong and you lose money. Their Book with Confidence guarantee is literally worthless.
We had an unauthorised £1789 taken from our credit card in March for a payment that was not due until July and when we had to cancel the holiday because of COVID19, they refused to return the money. HomeAway absolves themselves of all responsibility and the most they will do is provide you with the telephone numbers of the companies abroad so that you can phone them yourselves.
If you book anything at all, ensure you screenshot every page of the cancellation policies, because these pages conveniently disappear when there is a problem.
My advice is to avoid HomeAway and book through another agency.

Villa Eden, Rhodes.

Well thirty days has come and gone, we would be getting ready to come home today, but still no refund, you said thirty days and we would have it, absolutely disgraceful, your still holding onto nearly £3,000. Of my money, we want to rebook for next year but are unable to do so because your holding onto our money, how disgraceful, the owner authorised a refund on 21st April, it’s now the 22nd May, send me my money back, I think you will find it is the law to refund within two weeks !!

We canceled our house in Mallorca (unfortunately) and did it well in advance, but what happens? absolutely nothing ...........

Don’t ever book with this company

Don’t ever book with this company. Booked in January but then the covid19 hit. 2 of our parties have to shield for 3 months. Easy jet stop flying and fo advises against all travel yet they would only offer us 50% refund absolute scammers

Appalling customer service

Host cancelled our holiday in peak season and Home and Away didn't Care.

We are a family of five and were really looking forward to this break. We had flights and taxis booked for this time and ended up having to book alternative accommodation at a much higher price than expected.

We had booked 5 nights in albufeira with a host . The initial deposit was paid and with the balance due by 5th June. We received a request one morning to pay the balance well before the due date and one hour later got an email to say our reservation had been cancelled.

We contact the Home and away helpdesk who advised that the host must give an explanation within 48 hours. This didn't happen and we had to continually chase home and away for a response which we never got. Home and away sent us a link with alternative accomodiation and guess what , this host's property was now available for the dates that he cancelled us for. When we pressed home and away on this, their response is "we are an advertising platform" and have no control over the host.

We were entitled to a full deposit refund as per the cancellation policy. However this refund was not forthcoming. We received a proportion of our refund and not the full amount. The Home and away help desk excuse was the host didn't know how to refund the full amount. We contact the host who informed us that he dosent get any money until after the persons holiday at his property is finished.
We contact Home and Away again who accepted they had all our deposit..
When we pressed them for the balance of deposit due, they informed us to chase this balance with our bank as we paid by visa we were insured.

Our bank started the process to collect our money from Home and Away. We contact the help desk to inform them of this and if they didn't agree to this claim that our bank would start arbitration with them.
The help desk advised please don't do that we filled out an on-line refund form and eventually got all the deposit in dribbs and drabbs.

My advise if you want to be guaranteed a holiday DON'T use this COMPANY
