My experience with the Horizon Academic Research Program was both challenging and really rewarding. I appreciated how rigorous the academic side was- it pushed me to think more critically and take my research seriously- but at the same time, the environment was very friendly and supportive. My mentor was patient and never made me feel inexperienced, which made a big difference in my confidence. Overall, I would definitely recommend Horizon to students who want to grow academically while being supported along the way.
So in the end, with the help of this program, I managed to successfully complete a 27-page paper on Multiple Sclerosis.

Horizon was such a supportive and inspiring space to grow as a researcher. The mentors really cared and guided me with patience and encouragement. I came away with stronger writing, more confidence, and a deeper love for learning. It was honestly a life-changing experience I’m so grateful for.

My experience with Horizon has been transformative. Coming from a high school with almost no academic resources—no Wi-Fi, no computers, no outside guidance—I was used to figuring everything out on my own. Horizon changed that. For the first time, I had access to professors who guided me, challenged me, and believed in my potential.

I worked with my mentor on behavioral economics and decision-making under resource constraints, and it opened my eyes to how real research is done. Horizon gave me structure, feedback, and encouragement at a level I had never experienced before.

Horizon was an amazing experience that helped me dive deep into machine learning and deep learning. My research focused on predicting breast cancer survival using tabular clinical and genetic data. Thanks to my mentor, I learned how to work with real-world datasets, build and compare different models, and evaluate them using survival metrics. Horizon also helped me improve my research writing and understand how to structure a formal academic paper. I’m currently finalizing my work and look forward to publishing it soon. This program really boosted my confidence in applying data science to meaningful, real-world problems.

My tutor at Horizon Academics was helpful and patient. She was always willing to help me become better at writing essay and researching on my interested subject. She was also excellent in my interested topic and offered lots of things that she experienced in her career. had a great experience there and gained lots of insights from attending Horizon. I recommend anyone who wants to do research to apply for Horizon, even if research means a completely new thing to you.
