I have been using HostGator for at least 10 years. Started with a per site plan, advance to a dedicated server and now I am using two reseller accounts. I have had great service from them. Always helpful and willing to make recommendation to make my business better for me and my clients. Highly recommend them.

Downtime nightmare!
I have been with Hostgator for almonst 7 years and currently a reseller with over 2+ years. I have been compensated 4 times but from last 6 months not a single month has gone by where Hostgator provided an uptime of 95% in any given month. Worst recorded is 89% and Hostgator support never accepts the fault in first go, you have to prove yourself via various 3rd party testings which they say is inaccurate.

I am having my reseller account with them for more than 10 years now and everything is just perfect. I like the support.

I am a long time hostgator domain hosting reseller customer; the quality of my interaction in today's chat with Gianni G was most helpful, informative, and satisfactory. Hostgator's customer service was great, only recommend they maintain wait times to less than 5 minutes on chat

I have been hosting as a reseller with hostgator for more than 10 years.
Excellent customer service and excellent tech support. I have only had server outages when they were announced (ir: they upgraded them all and had to pull them offline to do so.
I recommend them to EVERYONE and will never leave!

Initially setting up a website was easy. However when in need of technical support we are going round in circles.
The live support most often closes the chat without any resolution. On the odd occasion where we have been given a case number from the support team, we then find the case is closed before the issue is resolved.
We have tried multiple methods to try and contact them and resolve the issue, and have wasted a lot of precious time.
We are getting nowhere with it, and it seems that HostGator are not remotely concerned by this.
Hostgator state their IPS TAG, but do not make it clear that this is for a registrar that seems to be a completely separate entity; 'Public domain registry'. Who are themselves totally unresponsive to support enquiries, and i have just checked their trust pilot reviews and they all report this as a scam company!
Very concerning Hostgator, what are you going to do about this?
Hostgator also recommend a reseller club in order to complete domain transfer, but do not make it clear that this too is a separate entity, that also do not quickly respond.
This is misleading, and terrible customer service.
Other hosting providers customer service and support is far superior.

I have been with Hostgator reseller VPS panel since 3 years ago and not super happy with them, the most thing that I don't like with them their SSL certificate for Cpanel doesn't work properly and when you give access to your client for their own Cpanel the first page they see its an error about SSL that says "the page It's not secure" I told their support a couple times about this issue and they said this is what it is and we can't do anything about it, also my server got down couple times in a week and they were not able to locate the exact issue at the beginning, anyway I don't suggest Hostgator for resellers, don't waste your time with them, find a better one

Left HostGator a few years ago, but returned in 2021. I have to say, HostGator support is truly excellent. Far, far better that what I had with the other solution. Short wait times on support calls, highly capable and willing support staff. Rock solid hosting and a full suite of online tools through cPanel and HostGator tools. Great value for money using their Aluminum Reseller account. I was SO RELIEVED when I got all my clients' websites migrated over. I unreservedly recommend them if you're building and supporting websites for your own clients. By the way, I use Drupal for most of my websites and server performance has been excellent. So, too, with a few WordPress and one Joomla website.

We've been using Hostgator for several years to host our WordPress sites and to register domains. Hostgator was recommended by a person we hired to help when our WordPress site was being affected by malware. We set up a reseller account and haven't had a problem since (we also have a security plugin on the site). Hostgator's technical support has helped us with setting up new domains in our WordPress account, setting up email accounts, transferring domains from other domain registries, fixing things in cPanel, etc. They are always very professional and knowledgeable. I have no problem recommending Hostgator. Thanks for all you help!

I had posted a disappointing review long ago but I am back to tell, the customer service quality and wait time was dramatically improved over the past year. I have also noticed improvements in the server speed, and the new automatic SSL feature which is awesome.
I now own two large Reseller plans hosting numerous websites, aswel as some Shared Accounts.
I would also like to thank the Support Team who constantly provides me discounts on renewal and treat me as a special long erm client.
I have one suggestion though: Your Live chat software is pretty bad comparing all other ones that use.
1. It does not have a sound notification which is a terrible thing or mutli-taskers.
2. The chat disconnects all the time by itself.
Thank you!

Our site was hacked over a year ago. We had to rebuild our site. The HostGator service staff encouraged us to begin using SiteLock, to provide extra security. We did, at $100/month.
Last weekend, our CPanel was hacked again, despite the SiteLock protection. We contacted HostGator immediately... and again 4 more times. The first two times, the customer service rep said there was a problem because the site we were trying to restore is through our own reseller account. We thought we finally got through that hurdle after 3 days.
We have been "in the queue" to have our site restored, from back ups that were simply 1 day old, and the site is STILL NOT LIVE! Plus, our email is down, too. It makes no difference if we ask for a supervisor. They all say the same “you are in the queue” line.
We don’t care. It should take no more than an hour to restore a website from backup, not more than a week! This is our busiest season, and our customers think we are out of business!
If there is someone at HostGator who is willing to help, please respond.

The customer service has been absolutely terrible. The chat system does not work effectively as it crashes after so many minutes into each chat.
I've explained my issue to multiple different customer service representatives and each has given me a different response.
All I wanted to do was to have my domain name transferred to another hosting provider (after all, it is MY domain which I've paid for) yet there appears to be many reasons why this can't be done or is delayed.
They always say the admin assistant who is dealing with your request will contact you yet I'm left waiting for days, each and every day that my website is down, I'm losing business.
Every representative guarantee's that the problem will be fixed but I'm past the point of trusting anybody from this company.
They told me to pay to renew my domain name as it had expired (which I was not aware of) so I did. Then they told me they had already initiated a transfer before I even paid to renew the domain. Then I was told that I had to pay for a reseller club subscription to be able to transfer my domain which I have done and now they seem to be delaying the transfer even more.
Do not invest in the services of HostGator. Such poor customer service and all they want is you to pay another subscription.

Hostgator good hosting company. But I signup for 1-year billing later they changed to 6-month billing. Now, whenever I move websites from Hostgator they try to block IP. Why? is this fair business? The Hostgator should answer my question. I know you don't want people to leave but do fair. I already pointed to a new server it's working fine except for my IP or my client's IP.( we have to use VPN to open website or get email or use different wifi connections. I Was having package ( reseller)
I found hosting price much higher for the hostgator. I found much cheaper fast cloud hosting. Much lesser price . HostGator should understand why a customer become so-called no longer consumer because he is not happy. Please HostGator customers please take care my points when you leave HostGator.

I've used hostgator for 10 years. They used to be much better than they are now. I wish they could go back. Don't buy cheap reseller hosting from them. You will have trouble galore. We didn't do too bad when we had a VPS with them, but their support in the last 4 years or so has become unbearable to work with. The bureaucracy is huge. You can't talk to anyone knowledgeable anymore. It's all tech-support workers reading from scripts and tutorials.
I planned on leaving them 2 years ago, but I have so many sites on their server that it would be a huge time commitment to move them all. I hope I can find the time to do it. I really don't like them.

Very good hosting platform for shared or reseller hosting. Customer service is also good but difficult to get hold of sometimes. Monthly invoicing charged to my credit card but hostgatot decided to stop emailing receipts/invoice .....which is a an issue as I now have to remember to login, locate and print an invoice each month.

They do not care about customers. They only care about your money and forcing you to create a million tickets when you have issues. They moved my reseller account to a new server and my customer websites went offline for a week. We lost many customers. Many sites are still offline weeks later and they will not help. Another ticket. Another ticket.
We are in Australia and spent a ridiculous amount of time and money on overseas support calls. They wrecked my business.
It all seemed innocent enough.
They said they would upgrade our hosting to SSD.
It was a lie.
What they meant to say is:
We will move you to another server with SSDs. The move will go badly, we will not support the same versions of PHP on the new server and your customers' sites will be down for a looong time. We will be slow and unresponsive to your problems and you will never ever speak to an admin who could have sorted your problems out in minutes.
Customers are still going.
Let this be a warning to others.

I discovered today that HostGator had suspended my business site on my reseller account since they found one potentially malicious php file in a static folder. This folder wasn't a part of my WordPress website, and wasn't affecting the database, and certainly wasn't affecting HostGator's security. Without warning they remove my site, and then email me their form notice after. After I remove the one suspect file it still takes me over an hour of arguing with their (very poor) support to get them to unsuspend my account.
When I replied to the suspension email from Gordon L., Linux Systems Monitoring, there is NO reply. And when there are other issues (like when their servers go down for long periods of time for maintenance reasons) they never notify you of this. Also, in the middle of last year they decided to provide free basic SSL, yet they had charged me for SSL a couple of months before -- of course no refund and no courtesy notification about the SSL change.

**** I have screenshots of all live chats and broken website logs on request ***
Host Gator decided to upgrade my shared server without notifying me: pss19.win.hostgator.com
They upgraded Plesk, again didnt tell me anything, no emails, no alerts, no posts, NOTHING!
Problems:
- Due to this upgrade, my website went down immediately, I had to find out about this by myself
My emails no longer worked
My databases also went down due to permissions issues Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) - (MYSQL and MSSQL) - MSSQL BROKEN
My PHP webs no longer work, they display theme errors. I believe this is because they have upgraded their plugins WITHOUT contacting me. Now my MediaWIKI themes throw errors
I contacted customer support four times in total. As it's a Windows server, they offer ZERO support for these servers via live chat, and instead, they have to relay emails to a separate team that cannot talk to me. I have to wait 24 hours for an email back.
Thu, Jan 10, 12:24 AM
After 24 hours, Jason S from the Windows team got back to me with: "I apologize, as there was an issue with like 59 in your Web.config, which has bee corrected. The site appears to be loading at this time.". He ignored 90% of my request. My databases are still down and my website shows database errors. I'm not sure why they are touching my files on my server without my permission either.
My customers cannot use my software as my licence server authenticates them. I received 36 emails from angry customers due to Host Gators poor maintenance and poor communication from their Windows Admin.
Fri, Jan 11, 4:43 AM
Felicia K from the Windows team got back to me with: "Due to the recent upgrade to your server there have been some issues we've had to address. ". They seem to be trying to deny MYSQL databases not loading by saying: "appears to load and I am not seeing any errors. Should we be clicking something to see the issue? If there is a login please provide the details so that we can further investigate."... However, I have screenshots before this email, and after it, it seems like they are desperately trying to fix their mistakes and take no accountability.
As it stands, the MS SQL databases do not work. The PHP plugins for my wiki, still show errors. I still cannot provide a service to my customers and have received 85 emails complaining about server downtime due to Host Gator.
I made a request for compensation via the Host Gator uptime guarantee which can be found on their website . From this, it states: "If a shared or reseller server falls short of the 99.9% uptime guarantee, you may receive one (1) month of credit for that package on your account.". Felicia K from the Windows team got back to me with: "4. Unfortunately, the uptime guarantee would not cover this case.". This is a bare faced lie. Not only can they now communicate with their customers about performing major server upgrades, but they do not know their own policies. A 99.9% uptime guarantee would mean by website would be down for more than 15 minutes throughout the year. My website is still down and has been for over 2 days now.
My website is still down and has been for over 2 days now and I cannot speak with a windows team directly to get this fixed. I have to wait 24 hours for each response, to which, they are not providing truthful or helpful advise. This beyond infuriating. This cannot continue.
Demands:
I am demanding that this is fully investigated.
I am demanding that ALL customers should be informed directly about ANY server changes which may affect their customers
I am demanding customers be allowed live chat communication with the Windows server team!
I am demanding that I am compensated for this horrible mess and my website is FULLY WORKING as it was before.
I am demanding that the Windows Admin be relived of duty and fired from their position.
