@hostgator @HGSupport @hostgatorindia Bunch of geeks and worst engineers at support. Instead of resolving the issue they keep on asking you to switch to different ISP or get a static IP... DO not host with these guys #Scam #hostgator
anyone who logs into the mail keeps on saying that the session is expired.
I'm a reseller and the guy is asking to tell all my clients to switch their internet service provider or get themselves a static IP
I really outraged ... I've been a client for over 5 years and I just had a bad experience and I do not receive a decent support from hostgator.
Maybe there are not many, but as a freelance web developer, I have 45 clients with their accounts created in my hostgator platinium reseller service. I just received a small attack on my main server and support tells me that I must pay $ 79 / mo to solve this problem,
in addition to the 600 of the cost of the reseller package.
So ... what would happen if I get an attack, inject or malware on my 45 created accounts?
It's a shame that after so many years of faithfulness you get this answer.
I do not know what happened to hostgator ...? It had great service until a year ago.
Unfortunately I am forced to start a new reseller plan in another company and go through the stress of migrating all my websites.
I really dont want to do this, but if this company does not provide me with a sustainable service, then I can't offer a good service to my clients.
Therefore I must look for a solution.
I've been a customer of Hostgator for around 6 years now, and overall it's been a poor experience. I finally decided to switch to another hosting company and am far happier.
1. Chat staff are difficult to communicate with
95% of the time I've found the chat staff useless even for the most simplest of issues.
Recently I asked them to cancel the next renewal of my package (due to moving to a different host). I kept stressing that the sites must stay online until next month, as I had paid for. Instead they suspended the account on the same day and all my websites went down without any notice! When I finally got around to speaking to someone I was told there was nothing that could be done, and that I would have to purchase another account for the data to be migrated over!
They had already taken out my monthly fee for hosting a couple of days prior, yet they still wanted to charge me extra for creating a new account even though it was their mistake! It took forever for them to respond to my messages and given the urgency and stressful situation, they were not very helpful or supportive.
Eventually the issue got escalated to more senior staff and my websites were put back online a few hours later. However on the next afternoon, while my new hosting provider was trying to migrate everything - the website accounts were suspended yet AGAIN due to a billing system error, and I had stressed clients asking me what was going on!
They did fix the problem quite quickly, but it's still just additional stress and I was worried it would happen again.
Recently I contacted them again because one of my website's online reports stated that it took 20 seconds to fully load, despite optimising the site and gaining a very good rating. The report mentioned that the server was slow. Again, the person on the live chat spent an hour "looking into the issue" before telling me to hire a developer.
When I migrated this website to the new hosting, the loading time went down to 5 seconds, despite not making any further changes to the code!
I find that they treat you like an idiot. That they believe the customer is always wrong. They force you to keep having to repeat yourself as they avoid answering all of your questions. If something doesn’t work, they tell you to hire developers, disable plugins, etc - even if the issue is actually because of Hostgator. They very rarely if ever admit an issue on their end. It seems they have a script that they stick to, and if your issue is unusual or more technical, they will not take that into account. It's like they try and get out of doing anything until things get escalated.
2. Waiting times. EXTREMELY SLOW
- On busier days you can expect to wait up to an hour just to reach someone, then when you finally do you must take 30-40 minutes just to explain the situation. They are painfully and laughably slow to respond compared to other hosting live chat services. It's not unusual to be on the chat for multiple hours and still not have your issue dealt with. Then in the end they just blame you and hardly provide any help.
No wonder they don’t include timestamps on the messages.
It's so obvious they're busy talking to multiple customers at the same time.
- A few years ago I decided to switch to a reseller account. The migration took over 2 months! When I contacted them for an update as to when I might expect the migration set up, they couldn't give me a timeframe and stressed how this service is free - as if I shouldn't even be concerned with how long it was taking. Guess what? I managed to migrate my sites from Hostgator to my new provider for free and they did it within a few days.
3. They care far more about money than customer satisfaction
When I setup an SSL certificate, the form states that I must purchase a dedicated IP required for the SSL. In live chat however, their representatives told me that they don't require it any more. Yet for some reason they were still charging me for it.
I was told they don’t cancel the dedicated IP incase you still wanted it, yet I only agreed to purchase the IP for the SSL certificate to work in the first place, as the form states.
It would have been good if they at least sent an email explaining that they're not necessary any more for SSL’s, instead of me having to figure it out for myself and ask that they don’t charge me any more.
4. Removal of support tickets
Hostgator recently removed their support tickets in the my account section, so you’re unable to create or view tickets anymore! Your only option is the dreaded chat.
It’s far better to be able to create tickets incase you don’t have the time to use their live chat or to call them. There should be a record of your issue/request stored somewhere for you to have access to.
I know Hostgator is a big company and it can be very difficult to deal with so many customers, I have had a few good experiences but overall it's been very poor.
Please devote more time and energy on hiring professional, knowledgable staff that respond quickly and truly listen to your individual circumstances. Most of the other hosting companies make it far more easier to speak to their support staff and get things sorted quickly.
I have been a customer of Hostgator for almost 6 years now and I a hosting over 100 sites for clients with their reseller plan.
The support is going worst by the day, and it's becoming harder to reach their support executives every year.
The most important thing to note is, their service is only good for low traffic, low-performance website hosting. Even if you have WordPress site with 1000+ per day traffic, sooner or later you will be suspended for high resource use, unless you are using basic themes.
So if you're setting up a business, it's hard to start and remain forever with services like Hostgator. They were good when they started, but it's now good enough for static sites, unless you buy expensive VPS hosting plans.

I am trying to get SSL for one of my domains under reseller account.
Its almost a week and i am yet to receive DCV verification.
When I checked with comodo, they dont have an order for SSL domain at all

Reply from HostGator
Do not order & if you have a web hosting reseller or business web hosting all the shared plans and reseller hosting plans are limited to low database msql connections which means when your users enter you website more than 10 on the site at one time will bring your site to the ground and give you low rankings plus you cannot access your website for a few moments so you will never make money using hostgator i have just applied for refunds which i will get however in about a week type hostgator scam into youtube for a very interesting live chat conversation that will get you running to your account to back up everything and also get a refund. this will go viral because i've tested it all out on quite a few plans which all fail, you're a sardine regardless and you pay good money. years of hard work just to pay them cash? nope get your refund today for all the years you have been with them. people claim they are great and people put up videos on youtube making them look awesome however you will soon relise that yes html websites for google adsense and all that affiliate stuff works no problem because there running it through a basic website but try to run a website with a database you will soon be thanking me for exposing this nasty tactic clearly used. Anyways i have screenshots and logs to prove everything, they put me down now its time for them to see what it feels like when this goes viral on social media and all the rest of it, HostGator review checker you must run and tell the techs to configure all the server software to accept msql connections more than 10 fast however regardless there will not be enough time before people come shooting for refunds. everyone who does not test this are just going to live the way they are for the rest of there lifes why they drink your money. Eating up the competition is a understatement but they can soon change that to throwing up the competition when its time for them to get the wallet out and reinburse the people that trusts them. tweet your site on twitter if you have bought a site from a hostgator reseller a bet your website goes offline. too many people connect ( more than 10 ) then you have to wait for it to re-apear online again, when you goto support they will pawn you off with " our team know there are server issues and we will post it on the forum when its all good for you again" HostGator you don't eat up the competition because its not started yet. do the good thing and refund your clients before they arrive because it will make things easier for you guys as use clearly have no interest in helping people witha honest service all use want is money which is fine but do it right, don't just start treating people like sardines which use clearly do. Anyway looking at the reviews on this mines not going to matter.
UPDATED - REPLY FROM CHRISTOPHER TO THE HOSTGATOR REPLY OF THIS REVIEW AS FOLLOWS.
Hello, very good tactical response my friend however your lucky if anyone can get traffic on your services because you think your clever when really your just a sad example.
Let me tell you in response to your reply, basically you state that you tried to fix the error or offered assistance? do you want me to show you something special on youtube and provide a link with all the documents iv'e recorded that clearlt shows use booting me off because i exposed you guys! it will take me 2 seconds to upload a video of the live chat and images of everything so don't even start to tell more lies especially straight to my account because a will clearly walk all over hostgator online for trying taking the mick. Face it your putting everyone into a 1984 amstrad computer like sardines knowing theres no way they will get rich because you will fail, nice tactic but peoples business websites or personal sites are pointless on your services just admit it because your exposed, it would take someone two seconds to realise you will put the connections up a wee bit but again you can't run round all your servers at once so people can check plus a bet they will be mad when they realise all there hard earn cash on advertising just when in the bin because the traffic never arrived or they got suspended thinking it was there fault when its actually yours, do you want me to go on or... basically your exposed and who knows what other little tricks are going on especially when use all mess about in that office like infants. good luck but am no interested and am sure anyone with a brain will get a refund from you guys because the service is worthless. You never know though you might get away with it like you are the now but am no falling for it a can tell you that.

&
his Support system never resolve problems

I have a reseller account at Hostgator. The support system is impossible, you cannot send in a support ticket, you have to live chat. They keep you waiting whilst someone becomes available for around 30 mins.
This happens every time, you get so frustrated you give up.
If this company wants customers to stay, they need to address the following:
Server speed - it's very very slow
Support - same as the server speed

I have been left 24hrs without email and websites. I have a reseller account. I have been given no assurances when the server will be up again. Words I would like to use I can’t one here. Time to leave.
I am a customer for almost 12 years. I have a vps account with about 30 websites incl. webshops. The last 3-5 year it's hard to get response for the submitted support tickets. Their chat service has gone from bad to worse. Nothing left, compared with the good service about 4 year ago. I have understood that Hostgator has a new owner, The Endurance International Group, who owns many other Hosting companies in the US with other brand names. Endurance International Group, with brands: Hostgator, BlueHost, iPage, FatCow, Domain.cow, iPower, A Small Orange, Type Pad, Startlogic, SEO Gears, Reseller Club, Mojo Market Place, Justcloud.com, Homestead, BigRock and many more. Just check the wikipedia info on Endurance International Group.
And you know what, I 've tried services of other companies within this group without knowing they were part of it (EIG) and I have experienced the same poor service with them.
Slightly on I feel like that the new owner applies a 'Hit & Run' policy.
Since I manage some important websites, incl. webshops for my customers, I am considering to leave Hostgator since I can not take longer the responsibility to let my customers get victimise under such a policy.
Update 2022:
Things has improven much better. I am still with them, response time is very quick. At least I can count on them.
I want to share today one of many bad experience with Hostgator. I have a reseller account with them and I’ve been a customer since 2009. Hostgator has been a great company but lately the customer service is awful. Every time I open a ticket, it takes more than a week to get respond. This is unacceptable for any company and even worst when the bad service you get Hostgator affects all the clients who have an account with the resellers.
Today I received several calls from customers saying their websites were suspended. I immediately checked and confirmed what my customers told me. I logged in to my hostgator account and saw an invoice from December 2015 that was not paid. Payments from January, February and March were ok. I contact live chat and asked and they told me that there was a dispute with the payment and they couldn't charge the invoice. Hostgator charges my invoice automatically so I don't worry about this at all. Hostgator should of contact me at least by mail to inform about this issue and should of grant me a couple of days to let me solve this problem with my credit card issuer. If there was a problem with an invoice from last year, Hostgator should have contact me so that I could be aware and make the payment. The problem could of been solved fast and simple but noooooo, what they did is suspend the account without any notice at all.
I have trusted my business to Hostgator and this is what a get after so many years, I am really upset and angry with Hostgator and don’t want to know anything about them. I will back up all the accounts and move to another company sin I can’t trust Hostgator anymore. I have several upset customers and 3 have canceled their services with me. Hostgator should not do this to their customers and I’m pretty sure I’m note the only one that have had this type of problems.
We have had our e-commerce sites with HostGator for a little under 2 years. During that time, we have frequently noticed very slow page load times, often in excess of 10-15 seconds. That is a serious business killer.
We have also experienced several server outages, that in the past had lasted only a few hours. The one we are in right now is in the THIRD DAY! That's right, our online sales sites have been broken for THREE DAYS. Our sites will load intermittently, or allow someone to access a page or two before hitting the "WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again." message. And, we can not access any of our back-end management tools.
During this time, there are lots of nice little (useless) updates like the one below. Meanwhile, they do not answer calls to any of their numbers, their "Live Chat" leaves us with a "Wait Time: 30 Minutes" screen, but in reality, no one ever comes online.
So, here we sit, losing sales for the third day in a row, meanwhile HostGator claims to be working on the problem, but does not have any way to actually contact them. Fortunately, our e-mail servers are still online so we can respond to the inquiries from OUR customers about why they can not place an order, update their account or check order status... And we lose sales/customers.
Needless to say, we will be moving all of our 20+ domains off of HostGator as soon as possible!
************** A sample of the updates we have been seeing for THREE DAYS on their System Status Forum *************
Day 1 ~ "We are currently experiencing issues with our reseller servers which has necessitated emergency maintenance. We are working to bring the service back online as soon as possible and will update this thread with status updates."
Day 1 ~ "At this time the issues have been identified to be a operating system update that has caused issues across our reseller servers. We are working as diligently as possible to resolve these issues across the board, and will continue to update this forum post as more information becomes available."
Day 2 ~ "We are still working diligently to fully restore all functionality for all users on the affected servers. Headway is being made with full functionality still being restored to a large number of the affected servers. We will continue to work unabated until full resolution has been achieved. We thank you for your patience during this time. Further updates will be forthcoming."
Day 2 ~ "As an update on the situation, while we don't have many details we can divulge at the moment, we are making significant headway on the restoration of services. Additionally while there are still a large number of affected servers, our un-compromising commitment to serve our clients is driving us to work as quickly as possible. As previously stated, we will continue to work unabated until a full resolution has been achieved."
Day 3 ~ "More time than we would like has elapsed since our last update, with our apologies. At this time a small number of innodb recoveries and fscks are still being performed. The vast majority of servers are now functioning normally. We remain in the homestretch and will announce a full restoration of all services as soon as possible."
