Feedback on Deluxe Room Stay
I stayed at Hotel Notting Hill Amsterdam and was very disappointed with the room quality relative to the price paid.
The room was so small that there was effectively no space to walk around the bed. With the chair positioned in the same corner, it also blocked access to the blinds, making them difficult to reach. The lift was extremely slow and, more importantly, did not feel safe to use.
The room also had wall scuff marks across it, which gave the impression it was heavily worn and not maintained to a 4-star standard (it honestly felt like it may have been used as a storage/overflow room).
On my second morning, all power in my room went off (not just the lights). This included the phone. I had no time to wait for it to be resolved before leaving after breakfast. When I returned later, the power was back on, but my room key no longer worked.
Charging facilities were also inadequate for a hotel at this price point. The only USB charging ports were located on the back of the phone, and both those ports and the wall socket charged very slowly. This made it difficult to reliably have my phone charged before heading out.
I understand the goal of reducing waste, but the in-room amenities felt below expectations for a 4-star property. For example: shampoo was provided but conditioner was only available on request; there was a rain shower but no shower cap (also only on request), and when I asked there wasn’t one available until the following day.
The staff were genuinely lovely and welcoming, and the location is excellent. However, the room itself did not match the ‘Deluxe’ description or the price.
A significant gap between the room quality and the rate paid.
