Problems throughout process

Quoting took at least 48 hours after just a revision was submitted.
“Send quote” button isn’t working. Emails aren’t being sent so we have to submit the order manually. Worked with rep but still pending an answer on how we can improve. My hope is that once we fix the email button, the order process will be fixed and run similar to your Factory orders.
Incorrect part was delivered. Had to work with rep to get the correct part re routed.
Part quality looks good from what I can tell.

I am happy with the parts I received but frustrated with the service…

I am happy with the parts I received but the proceeds to get there was painful and slow. I started out by noting the tight tolerance we needed on a particular feature. I was told it would not be an issue but then when the analysis came back it was. I was told we can go a different route that could achieve those tolerances. But again, when the analysis came back it was not able to. This happened a 4 time before I was told that they could not make those tolerances. We decided to proceed with what you said could be achieved. Because it usually took a minimum 3 days to 2 weeks between replies, so it took well over two months from when I first contacted you until the machining of the mold started.

I ordered part with ACME trapezoid…

I ordered part with ACME trapezoid thread, received part with regular thread. For 7 days your team can't figure out what is wrong. I sent back picture showing sharp edges on suppose to be trapezoid thread, it would take one minute for qualified person to see what is wrong

Bulk order did not match dimensions

I had prototypes printed that were dimensionally accurate and worked perfectly in a modular quick connect system I am developing. Subsequently, I made a large bulk order of 200 of the same units. Those units were not dimensionally within the workable tolerance of the prototypes and bind in the quick connect coupler. The large bulk order units were oversized by .22 mm. The prototypes were within .02 mm of the digital model.
I requested a remake and was told Protolabs Network they could not verify the issue and therefore hoped I was not inconvenienced. I paid approximately $2700 for components I can’t use so that is very disappointing and inconvenient.

I was also told that any I would have to work out any components with close tolerances in advance with the sales team. How do you do that?

I reached out for help for a quote and three days later got a quote that was significantly higher than what I could get online. I had several questions about the quote and never got any response to my questions after emailing immediately after getting the quote.

Communications sketchy.

So far, not bad quality of work but the influx of personnel that move in and out of this place leaves a lot to be desired. The influx disrupts orders and leaves the customer hanging until the point of having to send emails to whomever and hope for the best. Communication is a key element when working with customers but so far, I'm not completely satisfied this is their main focus. We'll wait and see what happens.

Not happy

Being a first time user of your automatic quoting system, I submitted my drawings and they were quoted, I received messages that had questions on one drawing about threads, and I answered it. At that point I thought that all the other drawings were fine. when I received my parts, I found that the only part that was threaded, was the one I had been asked a question about. All the others were not threaded as noted in the drawings. Come to find out that I had not checked threaded on the quote request form, so it became my problem at that point. So it would have been nice to ask the question "Do you really not want your other parts threaded, since the drawings call out for it?"

Order showed up late

My order was delayed past the original promise date and nothing was done to make up for it. I do at least appreciate them notifying me that it would be delayed, instead of it showing up late with no notice.

Excellent service and quality product

Excellent service, both online with their quoting tools and offline with their customer service. Experienced a small issue with a missing item in a delivery but it was dealt with speedily and efficiently. Would definitely recommend.

Protolabs has decreased in quality

Protolabs has really decreased in quality and increased in price since they acquired 3D Hubs. The sintered nylon parts I received had a terrible surface finish, with gouges and what looks like filler hand patched on some of the surfaces. They're ok for some quick prototyping instances but I've had a lot of trouble with both product quality and service over the past year and a half.
