Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 191 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People frequently complained that the smart scale and companion app provide wildly inaccurate body measurements, inconsistent weight readings, and struggle constantly with Bluetooth connectivity issues. Consumers also faced frustrating hurdles when attempting to communicate with customer service or secure promised refunds after returning faulty units. The minority of people were satisfied with the device, noting that it effectively helped track fitness trends and provided detailed body composition metrics. Some reviewers also mentioned that the initial setup process was smooth and straightforward, while others found the recorded metrics aligned well with their gym data.

Avoid this one

Avoid this one. Most of the time the scale won’t connect to app, a total waste of money and time. Customer support was zero help. A very expensive door stop.

Wish I could give this zero stars

Wish I could give this zero stars. Should have done more research on this. Customer service is ridiculous. After many emails they.. AI tells you they can't really do anything to help. Don't get the free trial on app. They won't refund if you forget to cancel.

Warning about promo discounts

They offer a 50% discount for new customers. That’s on top of the already discounted price which makes you wonder how much the device is actually worth. But the kicker is that the VAT is applied against the pre-discounted price. In the UK VAT is supposed to be calculated on the discounted price. They’re clawing money back through sketchy accounting

DO NOT BUY

I am filing this complaint regarding a smart scale and mobile application provided by Hume Health. I purchased a Dara smart scale through Amazon several years ago. The device itself still powers on and functions normally; however, it can no longer connect to the Hume Health mobile app due to changes the company made to their app. When I contacted Hume Health support, I was initially told that my device could not connect due to updated security requirements in the app. They then offered two options: purchase a new device at 50% off or pay shipping for a replacement model. However, after further communication, the company changed their explanation and stated that because the scale was purchased through Amazon, they could not verify the device and would not offer any replacement or support. This response is extremely concerning because the scale previously worked with the app without issue. The hardware still functions properly, and the problem appears to be caused by updates made to the company’s app. Despite this, the company is refusing to take responsibility and is instead directing customers to purchase new devices. Based on my research in the app store reviews, many other customers are reporting the same issue after app updates. This suggests the problem is not with individual devices but with the company’s software changes. I believe this situation is unfair to customers who purchased these devices in good faith expecting them to continue working with the official app. A functioning device should not become unusable simply because the company changed its software and then refuses to support devices purchased through legitimate retailers like Amazon. I am requesting that the company provide a proper resolution, such as restoring compatibility with the app or providing a replacement device without additional charges caused by their software changes.

I never write reviews but felt…

I never write reviews but felt compelled to after my very poor experience with this device. My complaint is entirely about how the device connects to - or rather FAILS to connect to - phones. Both my wife and I want to use the scale but it will basically only connect to my phone even though her phone is newer. Since you can only have one user on the hume app at a time it makes for a very poor experience.

Avoid.

Avoid.. This company sells you the dream and when you take them up on their "no quibble returns" policy you start months of back and forth emails and gaslighting. After receiving the Health Pod and using it for a week I decided to return it it. I was highly sceptical of the readings and it was also extremely difficult to sync with Samsung Health (despite what they promise). I followed their returns procedure to the letter. They received the return 7 weeks ago (tracked) and still no sign of a refund which I think is contrary to UK Consumer law. My advice: spend your money elsewhere.

If I could give them a zero I would...
This company has very strong marketing but their products are faulty and their "refund" processing has been taking over 1 month. They keep telling me that they are issuing a refund, and it will take 5-7 days. Honestly, this company is likely fraudulent. Do not purchase anything from them

Don't Waste Your Money!

After receiving the scale I spent 2 weeks with customer service trying to get it to work. Finally, they sent me a new one. It is very inaccurate. I weighed, and then again 5 minutes later. My weight went down 3 pounds. Over half the time i get error messages. The results are all over the place from day to day. Comparing the results to a commercial In-Body Scan at my local gym, not even close. Just don't buy this piece of junk. Biggest waste of money.

HUME scale… ads budget should go to improving the quality

I've now owned the HUME Body Pod scale for a year. It's garbage 🗑️. It doesn't sync to the app regularly. I didnt change weight, not even an ounce, over 5 weigh ins... NOT possible. I highly doubt it's accuracy. It's Bluetooth technology is unreliable and often doesn't work. I don't recommend anyone waste their money on it. Buy the tried and true Garmin.

Wish I hadn't bought it

I specifically bought this because of an ad showing a guy whose musculature was lopsided causing back pain and the pod gave him instructions on how to fix. I broke my pelvis and really couldn't use one leg much at all for a bit and thought this would help me get fixed up once I could use all my parts. It turns out the readings are very inconsistent. Some days my legs have the same amount of muscle. Some days one has a half lb. less. Some days my biological age is 45 and some days 74. These differences are from one day to the next. I haven't gotten any guidance and a number of readings that are supposed to go into a report currently aren't working - there's a message in the app. that they'll be back. Some of that info comes from my Apple watch ... which I already get the info from.

I feel like I basically threw my money away on this. The weight and bodyfat matches my iHealth scale - but my iHealth info also goes to my doc. (I have other iHealth devices as well). Don't recommend at all. Especially for the price!

Save your money

The unit looks nice that's the only nice thing I have to say. It comes with no instructions. The support people emailed me a manual. The unit keeps giving me an error and not completing the scan. They suggest weigh in after you get up use the restroom and don't eat or drink first. The gem of a scale says you are dehydrated. Then it wants you to skip the weigh in because it might affect the metric. Guess what Hume. When you wake up you are the most dehydrated DUH. It would be fantastic for the people that are genuinely lacking in daily water consumption for it to tell them hey great you retained more water good job. Anyway I have buyers remorse and would not recommend this to anyone. I had other issues with it not completing the scan also.

Follow up and upgraded stars. The customer service people helped me out immensely and it was determined my scale was defective. They replaced the unit hassle free. I was harsh in the above review. I should have waited but we all know how we get when upset. Ty Hume for being an honest company.

Terrible company, I got to run around for weeks and it wasn’t until I said, I will sue you and take you to small claims and notified my bank that I got my money back.

I didn't have the body pod I bought two bands and I returned them well within the timeframe and it was awful getting my money back I would write to them and they would say we're processing we're processing and processing finally after I said OK I'm gonna contact the newspapers I'm gonna contact anybody who would listen I'm going to sue you in small claims I contacted my bank I contact everybody that I possibly could I got my money back I think I was very fortunate to get the money back because there are so many complaints that they just blow people off and somebody should do something with this company!

Scam Company

It’s not just a scale, it’s a scam. They will charge you for, then ship you more products then you ordered and then make the return & refund process a multi month nightmare. You may never see your money.

The only scale where the laws of thermodynamics dont exist..

With all the marketing , and so called honest reviews on youtube ( usually with promo codes) i really hoped the hume bodypod lived up to the hype..Unfortunately, it didnt.

As with the review summary , the issues with the product seem consistent across the board for many ( like myself).

Conectivity. : If my scale is in an airconditioned room it will not connect . Their fix is to dampen your feet. Yes it works ,
BUT , if i reloate the scale into my home gym, sleep in the same air-conditioned room , wake up and go weigh myself it reads everytime without having to dampen my feet.

Scale inconstancy.
My scale is the only scale in history where the law of thermodynamics do not apply.
If im doing a bodybuilding cut ( weightloss), my scale shows the weightloss , but the biometrics show ive lost muscle , gained fat and gotten a few years older.plus and increase in subcutaneous fat, lower health score , etc.

So last week i ate in a high calorie surplus.( about 1200 calorie increase per day).
I ate highly processed foods, less protein just to see what the scale showed.).
This was man vs scale... lol

Not only did i gain 3 kg in weight, i gained 3kg muscle mass , lost 2% body fat and my age dropped 2 years as well as a drop in subcutaneous fat. lol.
Theres also issues with muscle imbalances and fat distribution ..

Being retired ( ex personal trainer, and electronics engineer/ tech)i wanted to see changes are happening internalwith my physique when doing either a bulk or cut and i thought this was a better way of tracking the data.( i thought wrong ).

In the past ive used a skulpt chisel . The scale was a quicker way to measure , but due to inaccurate data, Ive replaced the recargable batteries on the skulpt so i can use it again , even though the process is lengthy its far more accurate, and reliable , plus i used a hand held omiron both prpducts show the type changes you would expect to see when doing a cut or bulk.

I did contact customer service wanting a refund and just got pre scripted lip service via email, about staying hydrated, measure yourself the same time everyday , and there's a fix for connectiviity issue.

just awaste of time..

So much for the hume warrenty "if its not quite right you can return it within 45 days of your purchase..

Certainly a regretful purchase and experience overall.

Have the pod (and the band)

Have the pod (and the band). Unlike many of the negative reviews, I find that it is pretty accurate… within 1-2% points of the evolt body scan done at my gym. Much better than other home body scanning products I’ve tried over the years. Overall, I am happy with the product. I have not had any issues raised by other users.

Incredibly deceitful company

Poor product. Doesn't work. Terribly deceitful customer service. Should be culpable for larceny. Ripping people off on the daily. I wish i were still on social media so I could support those reporting the exposure of this company.

Inaccurate!

So depressing. I was really looking forward to track my progress but this scale is so inaccurate that is pointless. Such a waste of money, really.
