Highly unreasonable to not offer exchange or credit for wrong fit

I purchased cord pants that arrived looking different in colour than online, and the sizing didn't work on me, despite me checking measurements. I was shocked that they won't accept an exchange if something doesn't fit. This is standard for online clothes purchases these days. I am making a complaint to Fair Trading and think this is wildly unreasonable. It makes no sense for me to have $100 pants that are unwearable that I can't exchange as while size charts and photos are great, often when you actually try things on they are not quite right. This is an unreasonable policy that buyers should be aware of.

We’re sorry you feel disappointed with your purchase. However, as mentioned in my email, our Returns Policy is clearly stated in multiple areas across our website and at checkout — all sale items are final and cannot be returned or exchanged. You cannot proceed through the checkout without confirming that you understand and accept this. This policy is standard practice for many retailers when items are offered at heavily reduced prices, as processing returns involves significant costs. As a small business, we are simply unable to absorb the costs that come with processing returns on discounted items.

We take great care to provide accurate product information: every garment is hand-measured by our team, and photos are taken to best reflect true colours. Many of our customers rely on these details successfully when purchasing online.

While we understand it’s frustrating when an item doesn’t work out, our policies are transparent and in place to keep our collections affordable and sustainable.
