Dont be fooled by "success rate"

We had a horrific experience with a TUI "5 star" holiday & despite going through all the relevant steps on holiday & at home, we got nowhere with TUI so used this arbitration service.
After submitting all the evidence they asked for we waited patiently for their reply & were delighted to find out we had indeed been successful with our complaint. Until we saw the award they made.
The arbitrator decided that our experience was worth a total of £5 for each day - so he awarded us £35 compensation. Having paid thousands for our "holiday", this is just insulting & a complete waste of everyones time.
Dont be fooled by their published success rates. They will class my case as a success but it is far from it. This is just a con to make money for the arbitrator & protect the travel companies from any real form of accountability. They have no interest in your situation & will do the bare minimum to earn their fee.

Thank you for your review. Hunt ADR administers the arbitration process but does not decide the outcome - all awards are determined independently by arbitrators in line with the Scheme Rules and based solely on the evidence provided. We have no arrangements with travel companies that influence award amounts. While we appreciate you are disappointed with the level of compensation awarded, the assessment of value is a matter for the arbitrator’s judgement.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE ITS A SCAM!!

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE ITS A SCAM!!
I had a genuine complaint with the facilities on a holiday I had in 2023 with Jet2 for a proportion of the holiday for £350. Despite many holidays booked with Jet2 they refused to accept my only ever complaint so Jet2 suggested I contact ABTA who directed me to this company this is the ONLY assistance I received from ABTA! I have since then until now had the worse experience ever! I wish I had read the bad reviews BEFORE I engaged with Hunt ADR as I am not the only consumer to have had the same bad experience! I registered my complaint, paid £108, I was made aware that if lost my case I would loose my £108 plus have to pay £108 to Jet2. I believed I had a strong case so I continued. Hunt ADR requested all my evidence onto their platform which was done to their time schedule which I felt was rushed, despite my very strong evidence Hunt ADR's decision ruled in favor of Jet2! My evidence was not considered! they used evidence from Jet2 that hadn't been submitted!
I was given opportunity to appeal the decision, using Hunts ADR appeal service for an additional cost of £350! I refused and continued to complain but when appeal time limit lapsed and I was left with no alternative. This ruling was incorrect so much so that I went to see my local MP who agreed with my complaint and has been supporting my case, but with little or no assistance from Hunt ADR. We also asked ABTA for assistance who would only reiterate the T&C's when using this service.
My advice would be... if you have an issue/complaint with a holiday, the first instance try to rectify it whilst you are there and also with the holiday company. If they are a decent holiday company I an sure you will be assisted but if not in my experience this is not a service I recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

We note that you were disappointed with the outcome of your arbitration. Approximately 70% of customers who use the ABTA Arbitration Scheme are successful in obtaining some form of compensation. However, we understand that arbitration can be disappointing when a claim is unsuccessful.

It’s important to clarify that Hunt ADR does not decide the outcome of your case, this is the role of an independent arbitrator, whose decision is based solely on the documentary evidence submitted by both sides. The arbitrator’s role is not to manage or assess the quality of your holiday but to determine whether the evidence demonstrates a legal entitlement to compensation.

While you felt your evidence was strong, the arbitrator is bound to consider both parties’ submissions under the principles of natural justice and legal responsibility. If any evidence from the travel company was accepted, it was because it was either submitted through proper channels or the arbitrator exercised their discretion to request or consider it under the rules of the Scheme.

The appeals process exists to allow an independent review of the original decision without having to go through the formalities and cost of court proceedings. The appeal fee reflects the cost of engaging a second independent arbitrator to review the case. An appeal is not a continuation of a complaint but a formal legal mechanism governed by specific rules.

We have communicated with your MP in detail to explain the structure of the arbitration process. We also understand that it can be frustrating when an outcome does not go the way you had hoped, especially when you've paid a fee to use the service. However, the process is designed to be impartial, cost-effective, and independent.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Brilliant arbitration service

Hunt ADR represented us as our arbitrator for a dreadful experience with Tui UK. Abta were unable to help and after 6 months with no resolve we took to arbitration. Hunt ADR have been timely, fair, compassionate and very thorough. It was the outcome we wanted and could have caused so much less stress had Tui UK had taken responsibility in the first place.
If you are a small voice in a huge auditorium of travel legislation and need support or advice; Hunt ADR are fantastic and as I say, have helped us get the outcome we believe is fair.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Mediator accreditation programme

In December 2024 I underwent the Hunt ADR mediator accreditation programme. It was intense, challenging, demanding but equally the most rewarding, fulfilling and valuable training I have ever undertaken. The training was really well organised with comprehensive resources provided in advance. The objectives were clear and the training itself was incredibly well organised and engaging. The trainers, Gregg, Kelly and Chris were knowledgable, helpful and witty. While providing excellent support, they all balanced this with encouraging participants to take initiative and think critically. One of aspect of the training I really enjoyed was the role plays. While daunting at first, with the right skills instilled and guidance from the trainers, the role plays allowed participants to apply their skills in practical, high pressure environments. This really helped for the eventual practical accreditation assessment. The training also had really useful constructive feedback which helped me continuously learn throughout the week. Thank you Hunt ADR, I look forward to continuing my mediation journey with you.

Don't bother, ridiculous process

My family had an awful disaster holiday with tui. Hotel stank of cat pee everywhere we went, the pool was unsafe in the evenings, cordoned off by a rope, the drinks were watered down, our all-inclusive band was cut off one day before leaving, a noisy cockerel crowed right next to my room EVERY MORNING from about 3am-6am, the hotel ping pong table and climbing frame/kids equipment was broken/damaged and the night entertainment was mediocre. The area was unsuitable for families and we were completely mis sold the trip, having to cover the eyes of my 11 year old son walking through streets laden with "I love slu*ts" t-shirts and crude souvenir's, the beach was dirty, covered in cigarette ends and again, stank of cat pee so my 2 year old was unable to play there.

I am devastated and already out of pocket £250 for going down the arbitration route to be offered a ridiculous £350! After waiting months and not hearing anything from them, I contacted them to ask why my award hadn't been looking at, to get a rushed decision, clearly the facts haven't even been considered.

I'm not being asked to pay £350 + Vat to have my case looked at again!!! What an absolute insult, this is DISGUSTING! I wonder if anyone has actually been successful taking these big holiday companies down this route, HUNT ADR are just a useless SCAM, don't waste your time!

Having somebody understand the impact the situation has caused you

We found the Hunt ADR service to be excellent. Ella was our 'go to' person , she was very helpful, polite, efficient and always returned calls. The Arbitrator did a brilliant job with our case and it was satisfying to have somebody finally listen to how this situation had effected us. We was kept up to date regularly and all time lines that was estimated were kept to.
We was awarded half the cost of the holiday back plus fees.
The portal was a little tricky to navigate initially but its a good way of keeping track as everything is on there and what stage its at.
Thankyou Hunt ADR

Holiday dispute resolution service

I was dealt with in a very polite and courteous manner by the administrator Ella Suffrin. She kept me up to date on the case and what it was I needed to provide with regard to my claim. When the claim was rejected by the travel company, I was informed exactly of what I needed to do next to take the claim to arbitration and the cost. Being made fully aware that if I won my case the cost would be refunded.
Although there was no response after 28 days , a message to Ella for an update was soon followed by a response by the arbitration case handler.
It was great news that TUI had been found to be accountable for some aspects of the claim and were made to pay compensation.
I would recommend using Hunt ADR if you have a dispute with your travel company.

Avoid If possible

Like all the other reviews - exactly what you expected happen.. the arbitrator took well over the 28 days, the wording is clearly hurried. He probably decides our cases in 2 minutes and then onto the next.

cant use anyone else but huntADR and £350 to challenge the decision.

I was fooled by the “70%” win rate lol please don’t be !!

Thank you for your review. Approximately 70% of consumers have successful outcomes in arbitration. People are often more likely to leave reviews when they are unhappy with the result rather than when they achieve a positive outcome. The arbitrator's role is not to manage your holiday but to determine whether you were legally entitled to any compensation. Unless you received your decision on the same day the arbitrator was appointed (which you did not), it is highly unlikely that the arbitrator rushed to a decision in just two minutes. These are professional arbitrators who take their responsibilities very seriously. You had another option available—you chose arbitration instead of going to court. There is no guarantee that a court would have ruled in your favour.

Abysmal Arbitration

Disappointing effort from the arbitrator who had to be prompted to respond to our claim well after the 28 day period they allow. Final award was clearly hurried, the wording was misleading and simple mathematics were incorrect. To challenge this hurried response would have cost another £350 plus VAT and goodness knows how much longer in time and energy. Clearly companies like this don’t understand the hassle it’s already taken people to get this far. Other staff members were polite and helpful but really unimpressed with the arbitration process.

Thank you for leaving your review. It is disappointing to hear that you were dissatisfied with the arbitrator's award. However, you are correct that the only option would have been to appeal. If it had been a matter of simple mathematical errors, the award could have been amended under the slip rule without the need to go to appeal.

I have to agree with the other reviews…

I agree with the other reviews.

The assessment of the company's response reveals significant concerns about their handling of our claims. While they maintain having considered all aspects presented, they focused solely on what they deemed the most material issues, suggesting a selective rather than comprehensive response strategy.

Particularly troubling is that although the matter proceeded through ABTA arbitration, their focus remained narrowly on contractual aspects while failing to address the fundamental standpoints of our claim.

It is deeply concerning that ABTA, as a CTSI-ADR approved body, directs consumers to HUNT ADR - a company that notably lacks CTSI-ADR approval and offers no cost-free route for reviewing natural justice concerns. This referral to a non-CTSI approved body seems to contradict ABTA's own standing as an approved alternative dispute resolution provider.

The requirement of an additional £350 plus VAT fee through HUNT ADR to challenge decisions exceeds typical small claims court costs for self-representation. This structure not only creates a significant financial barrier to justice but also raises serious questions about why a CTSI-ADR approved organisation would recommend a dispute resolution service that lacks equivalent consumer protection standards and imposes substantial costs for appealing decisions.

Should not have reached the ADR stage.

I had a strong case against Easyjet and Easyjet initially contested that Hunt had jurisdiction over the matter. They infact did, however the racism that I experienced on holiday (which was the main part if my claim), was deemed to be outside the scope of the scheme and I had to rely only on other matters which obviously meant that the value of my claim was reduced. I should have been offered an alternative platform to address my matter. Ella from Hunt ADR was very useful. I won my claim, however the damages awarded were insufficient and did not cover the pain and discomfort experienced by being bitten by ants in your bed.

Awful service

Awful service! They are clearly on the travel companys side. Absolute scam. Wish I had just gone to the small claims court. Their response was shocking, not taking anything into account and zero empathy to the situation. Wish they worked more like The Ombudsman. I had a claim against P&O, would never ever use Hunt ADR again or P&O and would def not recommend.

All I can say is completely incompetent, I had a very good case against TUI and these uneducated individuals completely ruined my whole case. My arbitrator had no comprehension of the written word.

RESPONSE to comment below**
While I understand the role of arbitration and the legal framework with which decisions are made, my concerns are not simply about an unfavourable outcome. The arbitrator did not fully consider engage with or properly consider key aspects of evidence , which led to a flawed decision.

Waste of your time and money

I had a very bad cruise with TUI costing £2,500. they offered me £350 compensation. I rejected this and went with Hunt-Travel arbitration which cost me £108. I made my complaint and the arbitrator sent a shortened version to TUI and they replied.( I feel they did not do my complaint justice) I then had the opportunity to make a final comment. In my case TUI did not submit a final comment as they did not want to submit the evidence asked for as this would have strengthened my case. The Arbitrator took this to mean nothing in the final outcome and he also concluded that I had received £350 which I had not. They awarded a minimal amount which was for the 5 days out of 7 that were disastrous. They are now saying if I want to take this further I will need to pay them a further £350. I had a very good case and they made a mess of it. Funny how giving them more money will somehow help me win my case when they couldn’t do it the first time. I have made a complaint due to the error made by the arbitrator and will update you on their response. Well I received a response and they took no accountability for their errors so I have lodged a complaint with ABTA in the hope that they stop recommending such an incompetent service and give some recourse to those who have been wronged. I will continue to update this review. ABTA came back today (2.10.24)to say I should remove my review as I’m not allowed to tell any details of my case in line with HUNT’s terms. ABTA policing HUNT’s reviews???? Think that tells us all we need to know about ABTA advising me to use HUNT. My advice is to use a small claims court.

RESPONSE

Over 5 months to get a response ?

Highly trained is laughable. If the arbitrator was indeed highly trained in the legalities then the outcome would have been very different.

Good experience for me.

Following unsuccessful negotiations with TUI regarding a complaint I took the issue to arbitration with Hunt ADR.
The complaint related to a series of very late changes to hotels of an inferior quality to that advertised on the tour that we had booked.
Initially I found the User Interface on the Hunt ADR web site rather ‘clunky’ and not particularly intuitive however, after a conversation and a couple of message exchanges with Ella on the Help Desk regarding the uploading of documents, my queries were solved quickly and efficiently and after that it was plain sailing.
The process worked exactly as described on the Hunt ADR (and ABTA) websites.
Whilst I was awarded the case and received an increased compensation to that offered by TUI (and therefore a refund of my arbitration fee), I was disappointed that the ‘Loss of Enjoyment’ figure arrived at by Hunt ADR seemed not to fully take account of the time, angst and concern that I had experienced in trying (and failing) to contact TUI representatives on several occasions and therefore wondering what further problems the next hotel downgrade might bring. The Hunt ADR award appeared to focus on the ‘Loss of Enjoyment’ element at the hotels that were actually changed / downgraded.
Overall I would say that the arbitrator’s final decision clearly took account of our detailed submission and evidence as elements of that evidence were quoted verbatim. As always with negotiated settlements you will need a strong case with substantial evidence in order to stand a good chance of success.
So a satisfactory result for me.
Well done and many thanks to Hunt ADR

Happy with the arbitration process

We are happy with the arbitration process although the process did take almost 7 months but this was mainly down to Carnival dragging its feet in replying to any correspondence (taking the full 21 days to respond) which was cumbersome. The outcome was fair and the Arbitrator found in our favour. Which was hardly surprising given the evidence, Why large companies feel it necessary to dispute every complaint is beyond me, Just get the service right in the first place. Hunts website proved to be difficult to navigate at times but all in all a satisfactory service. A big thank you to our case administrator Ella Sufrin for your help.

EasyJet Holidays 0, Me 1, thanks to Hunt ADR Ltd

Extremely helpful, easy enough to go through the process, and very professional. So pleased my case is now closed!
EasyJet Holidays seemed to think it was ok to sell me a holiday that didn’t exist and not take ownership of their error! Arriving at a building site in Turkey, late at night, and as a solo traveller! Ive never been so scared! ABTA also couldn’t see fault? I’m still not ready to take another holiday yet, 14 months later but at least now I can work on myself and put this terrifying experience behind me.. Thank you Hunt ADR Ltd for closure.
