Disappointing and Discriminatory Stay at Seagull Beach Resort

Our stay at Seagull Beach Resort unfortunately did not live up to our expectations. While some of the staff at the food stations were friendly and welcoming, the overall experience was marked by unfair treatment and discrimination.

It was clear that guests with a European appearance were given higher priority—especially around the pool area, where they received quicker and more attentive service such as water and smoothies. As guests wearing headscarves and with a different skin color, we felt de-prioritized and overlooked.

We also noticed inconsistent pricing for spa treatments with no clear explanation, which gave the impression that guests were not being treated equally.

Another concerning issue was the number of heavily intoxicated guests at the hotel. We witnessed several being assisted to their rooms because they were too drunk to walk on their own. This did not feel safe or appropriate—especially considering the hotel presents itself as family-friendly. It created an uncomfortable and unsafe environment for families with children.

Additionally, some of our personal belongings went missing during the stay. While we cannot say for certain who was responsible, the incident left us feeling uneasy and distrustful about the hotel’s security.

Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and we did not feel welcome or secure. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend Seagull Beach Resort—especially not to guests who don’t fit into the hotel’s “preferred” profile.

Review of Seagull Beach Resort – Poor service, discrimination, and lack of entertainment

During our 10-day stay at Seagull Beach Resort, we contacted the staff multiple times regarding poor electricity and malfunctioning air conditioning in our hotel room. Despite several requests, the issues were not taken seriously, and the staff’s response was slow and dismissive.

One of the most frustrating parts of our stay was the clear discrimination based on appearance and assumed background. Several women in our group wore headscarves, and time and time again, we noticed that staff were far more friendly, welcoming, and helpful toward guests who appeared European. We were made to feel like second-class visitors, as though we didn’t belong – even though we are actually from Denmark.

At the bar, the discrimination continued. European guests would cut the line and be served immediately, while we were left waiting. The staff saw this happening but did nothing to stop it.

It was especially disappointing given that this resort markets itself as family-friendly, yet the staff showed very little understanding or patience toward children. Even normal child behavior was met with irritation instead of kindness.

As for entertainment, there was almost none. During our entire 10-day stay, there were only two nights with organized entertainment. The rest of the time, the resort felt dull and lifeless.

Overall, our experience at Seagull Beach Resort was deeply disappointing. The lack of hospitality, clear discrimination, poor facilities, and lack of activities made us feel unwelcome and undervalued. We do not recommend this resort, especially for families or guests who do not fit the stereotype of a “typical tourist.”

⭐ Review of Seagull Beach Resort – Disappointing stay marked by poor customer service and discrimination

I was looking forward to a relaxing stay at Seagull Beach Resort, but unfortunately, my experience was far from positive – especially when it came to customer service and the treatment of guests with a non-European background.

Right from check-in, the tone was set: the staff were cold, unhelpful, and highly unprofessional. The process was unnecessarily delayed with no clear explanation, and you definitely didn’t feel welcome. What was most shocking, however, was the blatant discrimination many non-European guests faced – especially women wearing headscarves and families with children. There was a constant sense that you weren’t “good enough” for the place, and that staff were far more friendly and attentive toward European tourists.

The worst part was that parents with young children were called in their hotel rooms if their kids cried or made noise shortly before bedtime. Rather than showing understanding for normal child behavior, they were told to “keep the children quiet” because it was “disturbing other guests.” This is completely unreasonable for a so-called family-friendly hotel and felt more like an attempt to push certain guests out rather than handle the issue with empathy and professionalism.

It is deeply disappointing to experience such low tolerance and so much hidden (and at times blatant) discrimination at a place that advertises itself as a family-oriented and inclusive resort.

I travel often and have stayed in many places around the world, but this experience stands out as one of the most unpleasant – not because of the location or facilities, but because of the attitude and level of service.

I do not recommend Seagull Beach Resort to families or guests who wish to feel equal and welcome – especially not if you look, speak, or believe differently than the “standard tourist.”

In November 2021 we visited Seagull Beach Resort in Hurghada, Egypt for the 10th time.
Why 10 times to the same hotel?
Because the staff does their best to give us a wonderful holiday every time!

Rooms are thoroughly cleaned every day, the restaurants have plenty of choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner and the staff are friendly and helpful all day long.
Through our many visits, we are treated as if we are family to all employees.
We're not royalty and don't want to behave that way, but we're treated so well it almost feels like we are royalty!

The hotel is close to the airport (12 minutes drive) without the noise of the planes, has 2 private beaches on the Red Sea, 1 of which has a restaurant for lunch, chairs on the beach, multiple swimming pools, also for children, a small zoo and play area for children and several bars for adults.
You can get clean big towels every day for the beach.

I can write more and more about Seagull Beach Resort, but the best way to prove my positive review is for you to visit the hotel yourself.

You will not be disappointed!
