We traveled from Essex to attend this…

We traveled from Essex to attend this in Southampton it was well worth the journey, everyone was so helpful, we both felt very welcome and so much more at ease than the mainstream wedding fairs.

Some amazing vendors and we will be coming back for the November fair.
You all did such a great job.

Disappointed

I went here so excited to see black wedding dresses - I've had a nightmare trying to find one in local wedding shops, and as the advert stated "If you are looking for a black/gothic wedding dress or anything alternative for your wedding than this is the first event you need to go to!" You can see why I was excited! However there was 1, only 1 black wedding dress. My heart sank!! Also to say it's the biggest alternative show, I feel dubious about this as it was not very big at all. I've given 3 as there were nice cake stands and some alternative ideas. But not a great deal - all I can say is I'm glad I didn't have to pay for this event!

Hi Soph,

I’m so sorry to hear that you were disappointed, I’m gutted to hear that. We did have a black wedding dress designer booked in but they had to pull out last minute.

However they have confirmed their attendance for Novembers fayre so hope to see you then.

The wedding fair was amazing

The wedding fair was amazing, it was the first one me and my partner chose to attend and had a great choice of suppliers. We haven't yet set our date hoping for October next year, suppliers were great at giving us contact details and giving us more ideas for our big day.

Host was really friendly. We had to call her down to pay for one of the VIP bags (as needed card payment) she was lovely and friendly

Also happy I ended up on the promo video I was wearing my in my engaged era personalised jumper at the event. Made me feel really special when my partner showed me it yesterday

Very busy and not what I expected.

Very busy and not what I expected.

Focused mainly on celebrants, photographers and cakes.

Was expecting to be more focused on alternative bridal wear/dresses (I.e black wedding dresses..ect) the dresses they did have on display were more cosplay/roleplay dresses.

Other than flowers there were no other decoration ideas, only one venue stall (plus the stadium itself) which was a shame.

Would have been nice for it to be more aimed at the gothic/alternative culture like it was suggested it would be

Was cramped into one room which was very long and thin, wasn’t great for someone who has hidden disabilities like myself. No signs for the lift either.

Hi Chole,

Thank you for your comments. It was very busy and we’re going to stagger the arrival time for tickets for next years show and change the layout so there is more space.

I take your point on board about the more gothic venue stylist and will get more on board for next time.

We arrived at 12.20pm and it was…

We arrived at 12.20pm and it was heaving, we actually had to do 3 laps in order to talk to the vendors we were interested in.

I felt it was really oversaturated with celebrants / photographer, which is fab if that's what you're after, but we felt more fine jewellers would have been a plus just because it's so difficult to find alt rings. And perhaps a few more dress, MUAs and decor vendors would have been great.

My last note would be parking, it wasn't signed very clearly and the "events" car park was closed when we arrived. So I have no idea if I'll get a ticket.

Overall we were underwhelmed, but it's a free event and this is the first on this scale, so hopefully the next one will be a bit more varied.

Hi Rose,

Thank you for your comments.

This is all really good feedback that we can build on for Novembers fayre so we’ll take it on board and come back bigger and better.

It was my first and last wedding fair

It was my first wedding fair, I knew it would be up mine and my maid of honour’s street (she is also getting married this year).

We didn’t know what to expect, but we knew it would be fun. Oh boy were we right, we spoke to many people, purchased some goodies and have come away feeling so inspired for both our days.

She has come away with an illustrator, a master of ceremonies, a makeup and hair stylist and, a horse box photobooth to contact.

I myself have come away with a couple of photographers to contact, a beautiful elven head piece and we both came away with some jewellery too!

It was beautiful, exhausting and so inspiring.

Thank you so much

Lovely fayre

Lovely fayre, and great suppliers, but it got so busy and cramped, we arrived at 11, and were gone by 11.35 because it was just impossible to see or talk to anyone by 11.30

Hi,

Thank you for your comment. We always welcome any feedback where we can improve our fayre.

We agree, it got abit too cramped so we have now implemented staggered times for entrance & quiet times and will tweak the layout so it’s not so much of a bottle neck effect.

We’d love to see you back in November to see if our improvements worked.

All the best
