We ran into some issues trying to do this in a Windows VM since I only had access to a Linux PC at the time. He was helpful, also very patient and persistent throughout the entire process. And VERY fast, I can tell he has done this many times. Very happy that I'll be able to free my tablet from Xiaomi's shackles! Highly recommended :)
