I bought Ian Fennelly's 'Finding Your Inspiration' book following my completion of his new urban sketching 'High Street' course, and having seen some of his wonderful works of art. The book is only available from the Ian Fennelly website, and took a bit longer to come, but was well worth the wait. It's a book that doesn't waste words, but contains many reproductions of Ian's art, with background narrative, which will definitely be inspiring me in the future to pick up my own sketching materials.

Ian's latest book, "Finding your Inspiration" arrived in the mail in record time, from the UK to Australia in just 10 days. The book is jam packed with sketchs of his work from where he has travelled all over the world. His focus is on Shape, Colour and Story. He talks about embracing the process and learning through mistakes. I would certainly recommend this book, not only for the read but also his beautiful colourful drawings.

Ian and the Urban Sketch team are wonderful to communicate with. The book arrived safely, and it is completely brilliant. Love it. (worth every penny! I already have his first, Layers of Looking and this one is just as fab. Thank you!

I have enjoyed Ian’s book so much. The narrative about each location is wonderful with stories of what he was thinking and putting into his sketches. The book is larger than I expected and the quality of the paper is superb. Ian’s artwork is on every page so you have an Ian gallery at your fingertips with interesting, helpful, and sometimes humorous stories to go with the illustrations. Having the book allows you to study Ian’s artwork closeup. It teaches you to revel in what Ian calls “street furniture” and “fiddly bits”. You will learn about his philosophy of shape, color, and story. If you love Ian’s artwork you should have his book.

Happily, the book was delivered within the expected timeframe.
The book contains a wealth of beautiful sketches done in many places. There's a lot of whimsy in Ian's style that inspires me to try to do the same.
I would have liked to have a bit more on how Ian approaches a subject (choice of view, process steps, etc) after the section on "Materials". The free tutorial on his website offers that level of detail and it would be nice to see it included in the book if only briefly.
I'm very grateful to have this book.

Ian’s book is an amazing testament to the way he has developed his style, with added travel to interesting places as well. I find it an invaluable resource for when I am need inspiration or ideas with my own sketching, I have learned a lot from Ian’s work in the last couple of years.

I have taken many of Ian’s courses and learned a vast amount about urban sketching, but I also like book learning. I purchased his first book Layers of Looking when it came out and it is a staple in my library. But with his new book Finding Inspiration Ian has outdone himself. The stunning sketches from around the world and Ian’s conversational writing combine to make an outstanding reading and learning experience. Postal problems in the UK delayed my copy reaching Canada for weeks but it finally arrived and was well worth the wait. I am thrilled to be a small part of Ian’s sketching journeys.

I really enjoyed all your wonderful pictures. The colors are very vibrant. I wish that you had added more instructions on drawing the pictures.

I love Ian's work just super fresh and it seems whatever Ian tackles his excitement and love of his subject and medium never ends.

The only reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the looooong time Ians book took to arrive in the States - I was so impatient and it was supposed to be a Christmas present - but it was the fault of British Postal strikes, customs and then USPS who didn't rush ether! Apart from that I would give it 10 stars!

Very inspiring, loved reading how your paintings came to life, hoping I can attend one of your workshops in the near future.

This is a great book, well presented and beautifully illustrated. I am going to get a lot of use out of it. Thank you, Ian.

A lovely inspirational book, lots of ways to look at places and objects in a different way. Finding it a very useful tool as well as a fun book to read.

The book was never delivered. I really enjoyed the first book and bought this one as a gift for my spouse, but it was never delivered.

I love Ian's book "Finding Your Inspiration", which shows off his colourful, seemingly simple but beautifully drawn sketching technique. Exploring a place, seeking out locations to sketch and choosing a point to view and frame a suitable subject is crucial to the outcome. Ian's approach is enlightening and easy to understand. The style of the book is uplifting. A joy!

I paid for it but never received it. Supposedly it was sent on 12/07/22. No one responds to emails and the book has never appeared. So disappointed
