Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 40 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the products, particularly the boilers, citing frequent breakdowns, constant faults, and a lack of reliability even with relatively new units. People also reported negative experiences with the customer service, describing it as unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to reach, especially when trying to schedule repairs or address warranty claims. The warranty process itself was a major point of contention, with many customers reporting difficulties in getting guarantees honored, often leading to them paying for repairs out of pocket. Conversely, a small portion of people felt satisfied with the company. Some reviewers praised the staff for providing great customer service and ensuring their satisfaction with the work. A few other people also felt that the engineers were helpful when problems arose, and some even described the company as first-class to deal with.

Excellent customer service

Had an Ideal engineer out re. my boiler. Informed that it was uneconomical to repair. Spoke with KATH from their sales team who was polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. Answered all my questions and made sure I was happy before proceeding. A credit to your company.

Don't buy one.... There are better quality ones out there

Our boiler has had an issue with pressure going up and down. Our installer has been out several times and cleaned various parts which has fixed the issue for a, short period. Finally got engineer from ideal to come. He replaced a small plastic part saying it was clogged up. I actually washed it under the tap and cleaned it in 30 seconds! He wanted to inspect the outlet pipe.. Why? This was behind a fixed panel behind the toilet and was difficult to access. He looked at it and said it was unsafe as it can be pushed making it loose.... How?? Its not accessible!!! He then proceeded to tell me it needs to be made safe and put a sticker on the boiler which says do not use. What a joke!! I refused as it was February and very cold. He told us our system needs a new pipe as its blocked (he didn't take it off to confirm it was) and he would order one. He told us our system needs de-sludging before the pipe is changed. Its been done 3 times before but he insisted it needs doing again. The de-sludging is being done this week @ £350. I'm not holding my breath it will fix the issue even after they've replaced the blocked pipe (when they feel inclined to come and replace it).

Main heat exchanger in boiler boiler…

Main heat exchanger in boiler boiler corroded from the inside and started to leak .Boiler was installed in sept 2019 . Poor product , poor warranty (2 years) apparently a known issue . Best they can offer is to have out of warranty team contact you ie you need to pay to have a new heat exchanger installed .

Customer Service Rubbish

Company repeatedly assured us their tardy service appointments wouldn’t affect our warranty. Engineers always crying off. Weeks after the warranty expired we were advised our boiler was showing signs of trouble and would require a £350 repair. Buy a boiler from someone else. Con merchants.

Boiler leaking Carbon monoxide

Boiler leaking Carbon monoxide, so no hot water/heating for days, and when we get an engineer call out, he was unable to walk five minutes from his van, so been left with no water/heating, with a baby at home. Blows my mind the lack of desire to help someone. And if a carbon monoxide leak isn't an emergency I don't know what is...

Terrible service

Terrible service! We have been without heating for 5 days now, no contact whatsoever with ideal, we have called and called and called, I requested a call back, and guess what? no response! Our boiler has a ten year warranty but obviously its useless if you can't rectify a problem, we haven't even been able to report our problems to someone at ideal, I have emailed too and nothing so far! Absolutely crap service, unforgivable and totally unprofessional! I would never buy one their products again! I recommend you don't either! The warranty is a false claim

No-one seems to care

I understand the engineers are in high demand at the moment but I have been left in limbo for at least two weeks..Boiler.droning on and now thermostat appears to seized up. Fault was detected and now insurer who installed boiler say it is not their problem as boiler under warranty. Unable to get past recorded voice at Ideal..What.do.we pay our money for? As an elderly woman living alone I am.not about to suddenly become an expert gas engineer.

I-mini C30 leave it don’t buy less then…

I-mini C30 leave it don’t buy less then 2 years old and got issue got 5 years warranty but it’s not worth the paper it’s on, rang up over 1 hour to get them to pick up then they told me it was nothing to do with them it was a blocked pipe over flow out let pipe and to get someone in to sort it if it wasn’t that to get a report and email it to them and they would look at it and see if they where going to send someone out that’s not good when I told them the pipe wasn’t blocked, I have a 8 month old baby so this needed sorting so I had to pay to get this done and it was inside the boiler not the pipe so he and the other one he spoke to need to go and learn there job, bill will be sent to them if they don’t pay I will take legal action to get the money back and all the costs involved, will inform trading standards 5 year warranty what a joke, customer service is also a joke this person spoke to me like I was a prat when I explained to him gas engineer had been and he said the pipe was not blocked and he told us to phone up and get them to it under the warranty to save more cost, he did come back and sorted the problem inside the boiler but has said I had to pay, the person I spoke to just didn’t care all he wanted to do is get me off phone with out any help at all didn’t want to believe what I was saying just believed himself to be right because he thought he knew he was right but he wasn’t any apologies for this to late it’s done so don’t bother, just put this because some like to try and get round it and put a comment below. December -2 no heating no hot water no help what a pile off unmentionable you are, and what a pile off unmentionable the warranty is.

bad customer service

Bought an ideal boiler 2018 had a part exchanged already as every time we turned the hot tap on off we hear a humming noise it has now started humming
again so rang customer service and told her the situation again same noise probably same part I told her it’s a fault and she said no it’s not a fault that’s how they are so I said why did he change the part in January 2022.i told I want an engineer to come hear it again she more or less argued put me on hold twice gave me an appt for engineer to come and said if it’s the same thing he will just walk away, I don t think so it seems to me they are trying to get away replacing faulty parts. Probably sold them off cheap to boiler engineers knowing about faulty parts and give you a 10yr warranty.

The boiler has been a constant problem and poor communications from Ideal

The boiler has been a constant problem for a while with heat exchangers being replaced, pumps and finally the PCB. I have had a number of engineers in t fix the problems and they all give me that look that says I was an idiot for picking Ideal! The straw that broke the back was Ideal themselves, they ask you for the details of the boiler that you can only get from inside the cover and then (afterward) tell you you need to have it inspected by a gas-safe engineer!!! Not recommended under any circumstances!

Waste of money....

Had nothing but trouble with our ideal boiler. It isn't as if it's the same fault all the time. We always use a local plumber who installed the boiler and I'm sure he did it purely so we would have to call him out every winter. Do not waste your money on this heap of scrap....

Logic plus Combi C24 boiler

Logic plus Combi C24 boiler
Just rang up to book an engineer and told I'm out of warrantee by 9 months BUT I THOUGHT DURING COVID NO ENGINEERS WERE WORKING UNLESS ITS AN EMERGENCY ???.
so i now have to pay the company £125 to enter my details back on the system before an engineer visits and yes from new now 2 years old it broken down with constantly losing hot water. Its shocking £125 this company is scandalous.

I was with glow-worm before this and will return to glow-worm again in 3 years or iwll choose another maunfactures not these again. Happily pay £89 for the visit but an extra £35 just to type my details in a computer system that already has them as they new the system i had???
Never want to deal with this company ever again, and when i ask for the break down of the £125 i was told that's what is.
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND POOR QUALITY BOILERS my glowworm went 9 years with no issues other than an occasional service

Non human beings

Just called ideal to let them know my mum's boiler which is in warranty has gone wrong she suffers from dementia and mobility issues which are affected by cold, but because she didn't register the boiler when it was fitted we know have to send terms of paperwork in or pay 125pound or they won't come out, what human being can leave an 86 year old lady in a freezing cold house that will affect her health, dispicable

After posting the above I emailed the CEO and got an email reply telling me exactly the same again, so now a 86 year old disabled lady who is 4ft 8 tall weighs 6 and a half stone could die of hyperthermia all because of the lack of a piece of paper, how proud this company must be of themselves

Emailed the CEO again they now want full service history and are saying it's my mum's own fault that they can't come out, but they will if we pay to hem a fortune, please learn from my mum's experience and do not buy these boilers
