Being charged for a recurring subscription that I did not sign up for

I signed up for Match.com sometime last year to check if it would be right for me. I paid about $60 for a trial membership and cancelled soon after when I realized that the website kept asking for more money to connect with my matches. I stopped using the site after that.

1 Yr later I find that my Paypal account is being billed for $108.83 every 6 months for subscription that I did not sign up for. When I tried to Peoplemedia.Inc at the number provided 866-727-8920 there was an automated message asking me to sign in at the website and cancel the recurring subscription. I have made multiple attempts to sign in using the email I had used but have been unable to. I requested a password rest link but got no replies. In the meantime I have paid for subscription that I have been unable to use.

I want to warn people to be very careful before signing up for a free or trial subscription as the website will sign you up for a recurring subscription without your knowledge that you will be unable to cancel.

This website is a total SCAM Don't say later that you didn't know and were not warned

I had been using Match on and off for…

I had been using Match on and off for many years , during the pandemic i tried signing on and my account was gone, i sent a email and i was banned for going against their rules , i read it and i figured this must be a mistake or someone stole my email info which i have had since 1996 , the Match Group of companies banned me from all there sites without giving me an opportunity to see evidence, or even as much give me a review .I have never once been banned or violate any online rules ever. Simply check my history and they would have simply seen it was either an error or fraud on my account .They chose not to give me due process, so i have decided to take this all the way to the FTC and the Attorney General i am hoping someone at the Match group will see this or the many emails i have sent, latest ones today .I got banned after paying with no reimbursement or no explanation of what i did

Don't Use Match! Frauds!

Opened a profile, paid 3 month subscription. Profile and photos approved. Began to view profiles and was locked out. No warning. No explanation. I hadn't even contacted anyone. Customer service refused my inquiries. All was silence. Finally, found a place to appeal a banned account. Submitted my questions and situation, and got answer I was banned for violating standards. How? I had a profile they approved and I hadn't talked to anyone. Worst is that because I bought it thru Google Play, they took my money connected me with Match, and said they had successfully supplied the service. So credit card dispute rejected. Match is such a scam. Frauds. And just take the money with extremely poor customer service.

It's a scam

It's a scam. Do not give them any money EVER. Every time you log in you will see about 40 new views of your profile. Then you check when those 40 people were last online.......7 days ago, 30 days ago, 3 months ago lol. It's just a scam, these viewers do not exist! In fact it's 95% scammers and bots. Also.....OUR TIME is the same thing as MATCH and rips off in the same ways. AVOID BOTH !!

Too many inactive profiles

haven't been on match in 10 years. I use to love it now its changed for the worse. Now its like Tinder in that you swipe on peolpe. Then if you swipe right on 5 people you have 5 discussions to deal with. That is overload. You use to be able to just add peolpe to your favorite list then get to them whne you want.
they also hide many profiles. I gte a daily email of matches and there are always 2-3 that I have nevr seen that meet my search criteria and sshould show on a manual search. Ialso get 3-4 where the profile is unavailable.
I've had a few women on my LIke list for 6 months now that have NEVER been online according to match's indicators. The keep them there so they can say they have so many active members.
Unfortunatly all there competitors are the same way

match.com - deceptive membership practices

I’ve used Match.com in the past and thought it was decent. This time I tried the Bronze plan, made my profile public, and even paid for boosts. I received several likes and one message — but when I tried to open them, I discovered I’d have to upgrade all the way to Platinum (an extra $50 a month) just to see who liked or messaged me.

The site gives the impression you can participate at the Bronze level, but the essential functions are locked behind much higher fees. You’re encouraged to build out a detailed profile and buy boosts, yet you can’t interact with anyone unless you pay several times more. That feels deliberately misleading and unfair to paying users. Match.com has lost the trust it once had with me.

It's getting worse..

It's getting worse... There are women on there now introducing 'friends'. Most recently chatting got ghosted by what I'd presumed to be a genuine profile. I think it was a scammer. Wasted money here and pretty annoyed about it. Take yourself out for a nice meal and stay single sooner than use this site. You can raise a ticket and that'll get ignored too. Clearly too many clowns like me pumping money in to this cash pig for them to care.

Click bait and scammers

Like many, looking to use these sites genuinely I can only say that there should be some code they have to adhere to, some reporting institution. It is FULL of click bait, likely inserted by themselves and scammers. I feel for the people who get caught in the trap that they set. its CRAP!@!!@

Match.com does not even deserve one star

Match does not even deserve one star! Do not waste your money. I was shocked to get a standard email in 2021 stating that I had violated their terms of service with no further explanation. My account was deleted and the remaining PAID subscription was lost. I immediately reached out and expressed my concern that I must have been hacked because I most certainly did nothing inappropriate during my time on Match. My concerns were quickly disregarded and there was no investigation or concern for my situation. I only received another standard email which clearly indicated Match does not have concern about hackers or their members.
I recently reached out a second time to get some answers, and Match.com allegedly "investigated" the situation for about 3 months. Then I got the standard email again stating my account was banned for "violating the terms" with no explanation as to what happened back in 2021. Clearly, the priority for Match.com is making as much money as possible and not the safety and retention of legit members simply looking for love.

Impossible to cancel the subscription

I’m trying to cancel the automatic renewal on the match.com subscription. It is practically impossible to do it every way you try and do it, it leads you up a blind alley and you’re getting no further forward.
Beware anyone before you sign up to match.com because it’s almost impossible to get out of it, try a different dating site

Useless and rip off

This app like it's partner app POF plenty of fish, is pure rubbish, it's money grabbing with lots of fake profiles, charges to even see anyone who likes you, and charging for messages to try actually meet someone. They are suppose to be helping people meet but at a cost, which one would say all apps do, but if wanting to date, get out and meet people for real not virtually through some screen you been charged for.

Warning Message to Friends/Other Users

Just a heads up Match.com has faced FTC lawsuits in the past for letting fake or inactive accounts message users to push them into subscribing. I’ve noticed a pattern where profiles disappear after talking about meeting. Be cautious it might not always be a real person on the other side.
