Spent around 6K per person to take my…

Spent around 6K per person to take my elderly parents to Sri Lanka. They did not follow the detailed itinerary, put us in a damp hotel, refused to change us and basically downgraded everything they could. When I complained (at the time & after) the after care was shocking. I have travelled the world with luxury holidays (last year Komodo, Vietnam etc) and have never experienced such disappointment from a tour company. Their attitude is shocking - use Kuoni, Riviera, Travel local or basically anyone else to get value for money.

If only tailored our holiday…

If only tailored our holiday specifically for me and my companion who has impaired sight
We were met at the airport by a local representative and they checked us in at the hotel
This was done on each occasion we changed hotels during our trip to the golden triangle in India
All of our hotels were fabulous and any problems we had were quickly sorted

Customer care is really poor - don't assume you get what you pay for with this company

I booked what should have been 'a holiday of a lifetime' with my local travel agent to Florida last summer, shortly before the business ended and I was passed directly to the holiday company - If Only. This company brands itself as a luxury holiday company and there is an assumption that, with the holidays if offers, there should be a high level of customer care. Unfortunately, I did not experience this at all. After transferring the balance of what was a very expensive holiday, I had to ring 2 days later to ask for a receipt. I was sent theme park on an email with no instructions as to what do with them and how to convert them into tickets needed to access the parks. The holiday details provided two weeks before travel contained several self-service links to find the information myself. To top off the level of customer service, when we arrived at Orlando Airport and tried to find the company that our hire car has been booked with we discovered, after 2 hours of being passed around, that the company details provided by If Only was the booking agent and not the company and the vehicle had been booked in the wrong name. I later established that If Only should have sent a separate document with the car hire details. I have booked holidays that have cost a quarter of the price our recent holiday did and received excellent customer care and had no problems. I would never use this holiday company again and I would not recommend them to anybody.

If Only travel, better name would be Not Likely

Now a better name would be Not Likely.

We used our local travel agent who booked a holiday for our family of 4 to go the the Maldives. We decided to splurge as our kids will be heading to Uni and like everyone else we have not been away due to Covid

We booked for Feb 23 almost a year ahead of time. Of late we had heard that due to folk from Russia and China not travelling prices in parts of the Maldives were dropping. We asked our local agent and at the same time got 3 other travel agents to quote.

The prices from others were as much as £4k lower. So we asked our local travel agent to check with If Only.

What a shocking response - not only would they not match the prices they were going to increase them by close to £2k, making the difference with others an eye watering £6k.

Then we got the whole , are you sure the others are ABTA, ATOL none sense. We forwarded the details of the ABTA, ATOL details of the alternative quotes and our local agent said - ‘they can’t match due to the large commissions’.

So, do yourself a favour, shop around and don’t reach the point that you are left saying ‘IF ONLY’ I had shopped around I would have not been ripped off.
