Reliability Matters

I’ve worked with Import.io across several client projects where reliable web data was critical, and it’s been one of the more dependable platforms I’ve used. Compared to DIY scraping setups, it saves a lot of time because you’re not constantly fixing broken scripts when sites change.

What stands out is the consistency of the data and the support. When something needs adjusting or a source changes, it gets handled without a long back-and-forth. For client work, that reliability matters more than having full control over the scraping infrastructure.

It’s a good fit for freelancers or consultants who need production-ready data for clients without building and maintaining a scraping stack themselves.

Bad data, bad experience, bad company.

This is the most horrible experience I’ve ever had with a vendor. I’ve hired them for two projects, neither of which have returned the desired results in the agreed upon timeframe.

The sales process was incredibly confusing, and it was clear they were completely disconnected from the services team once the projects kicked off. On multiple occasions the services team has sent inappropriate emails talking about the insignificance of our project and accidentally included us. The kicker is: they set the price. I had set aside more money for these asks than what they proposed. If you needed more money to get the job done, ASK FOR IT.

The data they return is a horrible mess and they don’t do any QA before they ship. We’ve caught countless errors and they take days to respond to customer service requests.

Easily one of the least professional organizations I’ve had exposure to. What a mess.

Don’t give this company your money. Hire a freelancer to develop what you need. Wish I had done that the first time around, as now I’m paying double just to have a solution that works.

Terrible customer care across the …

Terrible customer care across the board, from their system to their people...

At first they over-billed my account more than $1000+ and it was hell to try and get ahold of someone to resolve it and issue a refund.

Recently there was fraudulent use of our account, and it was an even worst issue to resolve. They claimed:

"we tried reaching out multiple times to discuss (the additional charges), ...to ensure that you were aware of this"

but I didn't receive a single email or call from any of their staff.

When I let them know we no longer had access to the account to use the service (therefore how could we cause the additional charges?) let alone cancel, they said "it wasn't their problem" and just billed my card over $1200+ in additional charges.

The best thing their people did was cancel my account, unfortunately it was after they charged my credit card over $1,200

Promises too much, charges too much

Very bad experience. Sales guy promised too much, tool did not live up to expectations and generally very bad SAAS terms. Lure clients into monthly payments without user accept and impossible to get out of again.

Overall one of the worst companies I have ever bought from in professional regards.
