Threatened to Close Account Without Notice
ING called us late one night and threatened to close our account because I was transferring earnings from my sole trader business into my personal ING account. This account was not used for business at all. It was never used to receive payments from customers. It was not used to pay vendors. However this distinction did not seem to matter to ING, so after about 17 years as a loyal customer, I was forced to leave.
A happy Customer
I've been with ING for many years now & I have found them really helpful when I need to talk to someone that can't be sorted out on-line. I have even been able to get assistance at 1pm on a Saturday so I think that's pretty good customer service! I think interest rates are similar to the other banks but offer more savings using the orange every day account so I'm a happy customer
Slowly getting less good
Went over to ING in protest against the Big Bank fees etc. At the time, ING had very good interest rates/conditions for their Saving Maximiser accounts (their story is that they are operating in a more automatic mode than most banks, that you accept that in exchange for better rates). Gradually they have been pulling back benefits though (dropping the rates and adding steeper conditions), so we'll watch and see how much further they take this...
ING greedy corporate robbers
ING are greedy corporate robbers. So I can have a balance of $100,000 where cash rate is 4.1% and if I fail to grow balance by $0.01 in any calander month they reduce interest to 0.5%. Do not use this bank.
These bad reviews are rubbish, ING is great!
These bad reviews are rubbish, this bank is absolutely great, I have accounts with a few other "big" Australian banks (CWB, MQB, Rabobank) and ING stands out, customer service is great, the app is simple and easy to use, interest rates on savings are one of the best out there.
Very satisfied with how my stolen card situation was handled, Customer Service knows what they are doing, I even received an email to remind me to change the card details for subscriptions and they are even summing up my subscriptions on my account, really good! Setting up my account and creating a PayID was easy, and I can tell from experience that that is not always the case with other banks.
Don't use this bank
My interaction with this bank stopped when applying for a ln Orange card. I couldn't see how to change the year when entering date of birth, then basically can't access any part of the app to download the identity form. I tried to call them. It took 3 minutes to get through the menus only to be told there is a 50 minute wait. I'm going elsewhere as this organisation is completely useless. Good luck if you need them when overseas!!!
Customer service and perks in the toilet
They were good, years ago. But they've pretty much made it so their customer service is non-existent. You can't talk to anyone ever on the phone and they never reply to emails. If you have an issue, you need to figure out yourself or suffer with it. This is a MAJOR concern if you're traveling abroad. They make millions upon millions but can't pay people to answer the phone to customers? I've tried months apart over the last couple of years to contact them but it's useless. I would strongly recommend against signing up to them. I'm planning to shift to someone else who answers the phone when I have an issue.
Avoid at all costs, absolutely useless!
If I could give this bank 0 stars I would!
Iv been waiting on some funds to be deposited into my account from them and let’s say it’s been well over the 90 day period. I have called over 5 times to follow up, and not once was I told correct information. I needed to set up online every day account which I didn’t know about three months after my initial sign up when them. I did that, was then told fund should clear in two weeks. Two weeks later, nothing. Called to follow up and was told funds will be in my account “middle of next week”, gave it two weeks and still nothing. Called back AGAIN to follow up and was told it needed to be actioned and now I’ll need to wait until 9th of August! So had I not called nothing would have been actioned! I got a patronising apology with “have a great day” but the guy on phone. Honestly worst bank ever! Avoid at all costs. They are useless, my experience has been nothing but extremely frustrating and horrible since joining with this bank, absolutely pathetic!
WOW!
WOW!! Receive emails to update my details, which I did. Right up to the end where it says to download a file. You click on that and it tells me it’s temporarily unavailable. BUT if I don’t update my details me account will be restricted. So far I have been on hold for an hour!! Utterly disgusting!!
can we have 0 stars?
can we have 0 stars?
I am waiting for some funds to be cleared since 4 months mow. It will be faster to train a monkey to make paper and paint bank notes. Hey, some numbers are moved from one data base to another, how hard could it be? I can read 20 MB in seconds from our SQL server into to Excel. But ING is fundamentally incompetent. The only reply I get is from some chatbot at their info address
Accounts with POA have no way of accessing accounts online.
If like me you have power of attorney over accounts with ING then forget about getting any service from them. I am no longer able to access the accounts via login as POA are not able to access accounts online. The only way you can get any information on accounts is to ring them, wait at least 30 minutes before anyone answers then be told that they only send out statements every 3 months. I get emails from them telling you to keep an eye on your accounts as there are lots of scams out there. Does that mean I have to ring them up every day, just in case there are unauthorised transactions on these accounts.Surely in this day and age someone could set up a program whereby you can View Only the accounts that have been entrusted to you. It’s not rocket science ING . People with POA need to be able to access accounts frequently to make sure the accounts are performing as they should. If you have POA over ant accounts with this bank,do yourself a favour and withdraw the money and put it in a bank that allows you to access information.
shocking wait times after they asked us…
shocking wait times after they asked us to call regarding the sale of a property.
Victim of fraud, unauthorised transactions
Failure in management of services in relation to a dispute concerning an unauthorised payment being taken from my account on 18th November, 2022.
The transaction was unauthorised as I never received an SMS security code verification. The money taken from my account was a large lump sum of $1400. ING kept lying to me stating the transaction was authorised by me.
The whole investigation took 75 days, from the date it was reported, up until the date of the first response given to me which was my request for reimbursement being denied on the 07 February 2023.
I ended up having to go to AFCA and I have only just got a goodwill payment from them of $500. I had to jump through hoops and go through hell. At least it’s something… however it’s not sufficient and I am extremely disappointed.
If you want a secure bank that will have good security measures in place to avoid your money being stolen, I urge you NOT to go with this bank.
Your money can easily be stolen as transactions can be made from your account without your approval via two-factor authentication sms and you won’t receive a notification either via email or sms, nothing. How is this okay for a large corporation who manages many peoples money around the world of all values, imagine how many customers have lost money… and more than $1400
Disgusting.
Best bank for expats
I live in Spain but still have my Australian account. ING makes my life so easy. There is a 24 hour line. They've always been so helpful
Endorsed by The Barefoot Investor, endorsed by me
ING have a superb interest rate on their savings maximiser, minimal fees and no foreign transaction fees.
It's no wonder the bank is endorsed by The Barefoot Investor. Five stars all the way
Bank transfers apparently not sending reference
Three times now I am transferring money to a company and they tell me the customer reference is missing. I have told them the ref and asked the bank to confirm the reference was sent but they can't or won't. It could also be the receiver, but the bank should be able to confirm what they sent.
Have been banking with ING for 10 plus…
Have been banking with ING for 10 plus years and have never had an issue with them! Currently have everyday account, credit card, home loan and savings account. Loose one star as they do not offer a mortgage holiday without hardship.
Unacceptable wait times for customer service
On several occasions in the past I never managed to get through to customer service. After 1 hour waiting I gave up each time.
Imagine I have to block a card or transaction immediately..
Will probably change to a more reliable bank
It's a crab bank sorry ANZ rules
Absolutely awful wait times
Absolutely awful wait times. Over an hour to get through to their customer service. Not nearly good enough.
