I have the box of shoes. Feel good. They definitely have less material in an attempt to reduce the weight. However, one issue is the heel back is lower and tends to slip out when climbing any moderate grade on the trails.

Good overall shoe but expensive

This is my go-to shoe for any mountain adventure (in the alps). The fit is generous in the toe box, just how it should be.

Perfect shoes for trail running - really lightweight and comfortable. Brought the wide fit which are perfect for wide feet!!!

First time trying an inov8 shoe but I like the natural fit

I am a female with larger but narrow feet so I'm pleased that these shoes fit me and the colour scheme is quite nice. They were comfortable on the first run and grippy on mud and rocks. I am often jealous of the female colour schemes so I would love for shoe companies to make 'women's' or mixed gender shoes in 9s and 10s with less of the male bright colours. I am sure there must be quite a few of us ladies now with larger feet to make it financially viable. Thanks

Had these less than 2 weeks but so far they’ve been great. Used for long distance walking already as well as running and they feel like a pair of slippers. The roomy toe box is a blessing. I went for half a size up from my usual size and the wide fitting, as suggested by other reviewers, and they’re a perfect fit for me. Laces are long enough and I have plenty of confidence in the treads. Happy customer.

This is the best trail runnning show I ever owned period - and I tried a lot of trail running shoes! I am a minimalist runner with a forefoot running technique and very wide feet. I can't highlight enough how great it is that Inov8 offers all their shoes in wide. PLEASE KEEP DOING THIS INOV8! This is one of the first shoes that properly fit me. This is my 3rd pair I am going through and I have to say the grip on these is awesome. Whether you are running in mud, dry loose or even hard pack, this shoe handles it. With the trail fly speed and the mud talon speed which I also own and really like inov8 makes basically the same shoe just with different soles. This way you get a similar behaving shoe but can just pick the sole that you need for the current terrain! The trailtalon's grip is a bit more predictable on hardpack. That being said, the trailtalon will handle any terrain extremely well. Also nice that you can get the same shoe as a zero drop version which I also own. Unfortunately the TrailTalon Zero fits more narrow even in the wide version making it unsuitable for me - what a pity inov8! The shoe is perfect fit for the skyraces that I enjoy so much but I also use it for daily training. It found a perfect balance between damping, protection in tough terrain and feedback that suits my forefoot running style very well. The shoes are durable and the big studs mean that the sole remains grippy even when worn down. Only thing I don't like are the boomerang insoles, I tend to get blisters from them and don't like their soft feel. But I just switch them out for thinner insoles with the benefit of getting some extra space for my wide feet - so no problem! I had slight problems with my heel coming out a bit in steep ascends but could fix that by adjiusting the tying - but that's wining on a very high level. All in all - superb shoe! Please don't remove it from your lineup and keep making the wide version inov8!!

Comfortable and grippy on mixed terrain. Not quite as hard wearing as I hoped but I did put them through some abuse

Inov8 deliver the goods again - replaced my Mudtalons with these new bad boys, and can safely say that after 50 miles they're grippy, comfy, and keeping me upright in these super muddy / slippy conditions.

It's early days, but these are as comfortable as I expected. They have a nice, wide toebox so my toes and forefoot can spread out for max comfort. I bought these with a coast-to-coast walk across Scotland in mind, so am looking forward to putting them to the test.

The shoes are perfect, Inov-8's sizing works perfectly. I usually wear a 28.5 cm (EU 44) for my running shoes, Inov-8 recommends 29.5 cm (EU 45) for their Trailtalon Speed and it's indeed perfect.

Great shoes, only really used in summer so far but we’ve had some downpours which they’ve held well in. I ordered the wide version which fit well, go a size up for the length of foot vs some other running shoe brands (I was always ASICS before this)

Excellent balance between grip, agility and cushioning. Definitely a speedy shoe on mixed terrain.

The Trailtalon Speed is a fantastic shoe. Comfortable to run in, great not only on mud but on hard tracks and technical terrain, where you can move like a mountain goat due to the the grippy graphene sole. I've even found them comfortable on tarmac where it has been necessary to run, on occasions. The other day I felt a slight sensation on the inside left show as if a small piece of grit had entered the shoe, but the sensation disappeared after a few seconds and I finished the las 5 miles of a 15 miler with no further thought about it. On finishing I found a branch with a long thorn buried in the sole, so the rock plate had clearly done its job! A great shoe and very comfortable due to the wide toe box and anatomical foot shape and wide fit. The Boomerang sole really helps with comfort too. Great stuff, Inov8!

Trail talon speed 9-1/2 W. First thought when I opened the box was how wide the toe box was. I was a little worried about my foot sliding around. But after over a 100 miles in them on some very rough trails I’ve had no problem, the shoes do a good job locking your heal and mid foot in place with more than enough room in the toe box. I would recommend going with the standard fit unless you have a very wide forefoot like I do. The shoe is very flexible with just the right amount of cushioning, it feels fine on short stretches of pavement. There well built and still look like new after 100 miles in them

This shoe brand is not common in the US and I don't often spot them (or their distinctive tread) on the muddy forest trails of my home in the PNW. I have only put about 20 miles on these shoes, but my runs have been in very soft and slippery conditions, and these shoes have yet to disappoint. I used to be a more barefoot runner, but the lack of traction and protection offered by many of those options is sometimes notceable on slippery and rocky trails. It can take years to build the soft tissue and bone strength needed for marathons on arduous surfaces in a soft floppy foot mitten if you were reared in big bulky american tennies. I found inov8 after s@ cony stopped producing the "pair-uh-grin" in a soft terrain format. The 6mm lugs are a rarity in a field of trailrunners with puny 4-5mm cleats, and those extra 2mms really do make a difference when you are hauling bawlz up and down steep, wet hiking trails. I'm always skeptical of proprietary rubber compounds, but I have found these shoes to be secure on most possible walking surfaces. The siping of the rubber on the cleats is also a standout feature, as is the ease with which the lugs release mud and water. The thickness and density of the midsole + orthotic insert strikes a brilliant harmony of ground connection, protection, spring, and freedom of motion. I would like to see inov8 in business for a long time. After thousands of trail miles in the rain soaked winters of Western Oregon, this is my second-most favorite pair of trail runners of all time (and in 300 more miles I'll let you know if they nab the #1 spot). High tech shoe with most of the barefoot benefits. It's very cool that inov8 offers different width options and I hope they keep doing this. I initially ordered a shoe a half-size too small (sometimes US-UK sizing translation is tricky), but the exchange process was super easy. These shoes do fit mostly true to size however, I just didn't really expect my feet to grow as I got older and ran more and did barefoot training, but they definitely have gone from 11.5->12. To me multiple widths and high-level performance is more important than having a ton of colorways. Most shoe makers prioritize profits and aesthetics over function. I suspect inov8 actually cares how their shoes perform on the trail, and. that their design team is staffed by actual runners (you would think this would be the case for all shoe companies, but I happen to know for a fact that it is not). If you guys decide to discontinue this shoe line, please let me know in advance so I can buy several pairs. I hope you continue to find US customers and I am deeply appreciative of the quality and functionality of this shoe. It is such a rare joy for me to feel good about spending money, but the quality of this shoe has eclipsed the hesitancies I had about it's price tag. Haven't found anything wrong with it yet. 10/10 would recommend.
