I was a loyal subscriber until…

I was a loyal subscriber to Intelligentsia Choice for about a year, receiving whole-bean coffee every three weeks. Initially, the quality was excellent and consistent, which is why I stuck with them.

Around late 2025, I started noticing a clear decline in quality across multiple shipments. The flavor and overall experience just were not the same. I reached out to them directly, and they responded with a polished explanation saying nothing had changed, pointing instead to normal variability in coffee.

What they failed to disclose is that they quietly reduced the size of their bags from 12 oz to 10 oz while keeping the same price.

That is not a minor detail, that is a significant reduction in value. A 10 oz bag is simply not enough for a subscription at this price point, and the lack of transparency is what makes it worse.

If they had communicated this change openly, my perception would be very different. Instead, it feels like a deliberate attempt to reduce value without customers noticing.

I have since cancelled my subscription. There are better coffee subscription services out there that offer more value and are more transparent with their customers.

Be careful and pay attention to what you are actually getting for your money.
