First time buyer, terrible experience
As a first-time buyer, my experience with this estate agency was extremely disappointing. During a purchase that later fell through, I received frequent calls pressuring me to chase my solicitor and suggesting I was holding up the sale. One agent even described my solicitor as “useless” and implied we were not progressing matters properly. Months later it became clear that my solicitor had done everything correctly and that the delays were actually related to the sellers and their solicitors. Unfortunately, by that point the purchase had collapsed and I had lost around £1,000 in solicitor fees.
When I later returned to view other properties with the same agency, the first comment made was “poor sellers”, with no acknowledgement of my previous experience. During viewings I also felt I wasn’t taken seriously as a buyer. Despite having proof of funds from my mortgage broker, I was treated as though I couldn’t afford certain properties. As a 25-year-old buyer, the overall experience felt dismissive and patronising rather than supportive.
Buying your first home should be an exciting milestone, but unfortunately my experience with this agency was frustrating and disheartening.

Excellent marketing and customer service
We recently sold our property just outside of Saffron Walden with the assistance of Intercounty. We had tried a few other local agents previously but they put no effort in to try to sell the property, just waited for someone to look on Rightmove. The marketing was excellent and the photography was by far the best we had seen. Their communication between offices is what sold our house. We were kept up to date with progress especially as it got stressful at the very end of the process. Would definitely recommend.
Possibly the worst estate agent in the…
Possibly the worst estate agent in the UK? Very disappointing experience. I viewed a property over two months ago and never heard anything back.
Property is still available at the time of writing. Numerous phone calls weren’t returned, emails were ignored, and there was zero follow-up. Instead of simply letting me know the property was no longer available or I don’t qualify or anything to at least keep me up to date.
I was left waiting with no communication at all. Unfortunately, it ended up being a complete waste of my time. And my family are still without accommodation.
I’m specifically calling out the agent HM
For the pitiful service/ lack of it towards me.

Kim was fantastic
We went to view some houses in Bishops Stortford and were kindly greeted by Kim. Kim had excellent knowledge of the local area, and was extremely helpful in not just showing us round the house we viewed but also regarding local amenities. Wanted to just say thank you for the lovely service and we have decided to put an offer in with Intercounty for one of their properties now!
Deposit withheld for a month with unfair charges and no evidence provided
We had a truly horrible experience with Intercounty’s Home Move team (Nicole and Sheetal) when it came to the return of our deposit.
Despite arranging and paying for a professional 5-hour deep clean before moving out, the landlord (via Intercounty) initially tried to deduct £200 for cleaning, £100 for a tiny 1 × 4 cm carpet mark, and £50 for light wall scuffs. The wall scuffs were clearly fair wear and tear as stated in our tenancy agreement, yet they were still listed as a charge until we pushed back. The carpet mark was barely noticeable, but we were told £100, an arbitrary and excessive figure, would be taken.
We spent weeks going back and forth, repeatedly asking for an invoice to justify the cleaning charge. Nothing was ever provided, and the deposit was withheld for a full month after we moved out. The way this was handled felt unprofessional, slow, and at times as though invoices were being sought after the fact to justify deductions.
Eventually, after constant chasing, the deductions were reduced to just £50 for the carpet. But it should not have taken weeks of stress, emails, and withheld money to reach such a simple and reasonable conclusion.
At a time when moving already brings huge financial strain, Intercounty’s Home Move team made the process unnecessarily difficult. Tenants should not have to fight so hard to recover their own money. Our experience with Nicole and Sheetal was deeply frustrating, and I would strongly caution others to think carefully before renting through Intercounty.

Fantastic staff!
Sam Kelly, Jake Frisby, and Debbie Davies (fine and country, sister company to Intercounty) are all outstanding staff. Quick to respond, very helpful, and accomodating. Great selection of properties. Highly reccommend!
Excellent service.. highly recommended !
I have been thoroughly impressed with the lettings service provided by Saffron Walden Intercounty. Blake and Sam have been friendly, efficient and professional throughout , always willing to go above and beyond, and giving their time and expertise generously to ensure the best outcome for us.

If I could leave less than one star I would! We had an awful experience with Intercounty, we were buying a house that they had on the market. They recommended a solicitor to their sellers that would not pick up the phone, respond to any emails etc, a member of staff at Intercounty outright lied about a conversation with our solicitor, then they were asking our solicitor for her advice! The whole experience was a shambles and held up our house move for weeks on end. When we asked for compensation they refused, it’s a small world and reputation is everything, by reading some of these reviews we are not the only people that had had a terrible experience!

Intercounty Bishop’S Stortford have…
Intercounty Bishop’S Stortford have been outstanding, Doug whybrow that coordinated completing my sale was just excellent. My sale through no fault of Intercounty was very stressful. Doug and also the rest of the team especially krissy took on board I have serious health issues and was finding the sale very difficult. They were so reassuring, professional, so easy to talk to and took the time to explain everything clearly in a way I could easily understand. They responded to any phone call or email with impressive speed usually within a few hours not days like I have experienced with other agents. They took charge of the process when it was clear I was finding it challenging. When one of the team was unfortunately off sick for a couple of days another member of the team contacted me and ensured that my sale was progressing in their absence.
I can not thank the Intercounty sales team enough for their support, excellent service and professionalism. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+
Over charging for unnecessary services
As a landlord letting a property through this company they charge you for unnecessary services without seeking approval and then have the audacity to take the money from your rent without your agreement. They certainly do not have your best interests in mind, just how to make more money out of you and increase their own profits at your expense
Awful customer service
Awful customer service! Do not get back with information. Unprofessional and disrespectful! Avoid!
Intercounty in Great Dunmow
Intercounty in Great Dunmow have been great throughout our selling experience. Every member of the team that we spoke to were communicative, clear and friendly making the process as stress free as moving can be! We have used Intercounty prior to this sale and would happily use them again.
It’s a trap
Intercounty has been acting as a property agent and management company for the property I am renting in Hertfordshire . I would like to urge any potential tenant about the quality of property management services they provide . For almost one month and a half they cannot manage our shower to be fixed . Then house has got numerous issues including rats that have damaged our belongings as well as black mould on the windows . The company does not take any of those issues seriously and put tenants into unbearable living conditions failing to manage their contractors who are not qualified , rude and go into your house whenever they want without taking their shoes off . When you sign a rental agreement through Intercounty you are trapped - they will not help you do not take any responsibility , blame all on you and threaten you with breach of contract if you do not pay the rent even though they rent the house in i habitual dangerous condition (black mould and rats ) Stay away and refuse to sign if Intercounty is managing the property if you do not want to live with rats mould and a Broken shower for almost two months .
