Schwab is not FDIC insured

This bank is not FDIC insured. Additionally they don’t protect their consumers from fraud. I sent over documentation about a crime that occurred and they denied my chargeback without a formal investigation. I’m above 800 credit and have never had a chargeback denied except recently with Schwab.

I have had to jump through dozens of hoops with Schwab anything from setting up bill pay to being able to wire $ to family… and now I refuse to use their banking except the rare incident I’m overseas and even then as a backup.

They bought TD Ameritrade which transferred my accounts over, additionally I opened an account because they have no exchange fees overseas but their “fraud” department doesn’t have an international number to call them back and verify your identity and transactions. They post numerous international numbers that you can never call from overseas. This is even after registering an upcoming trip. No wireless calling or paid international calling. Even their chat function says you MUST call to verify identity and transactions with fraud department which when I paid for a local US number while overseas ultimately ends up being an automated system anyway.

I took a path of least resistance and used their banking services but now I’m going to spend a week just closing down all accounts, it’s a sham company

Logging issues

I am having issues logging in to my account. The send message or call doesn't work, and the helpline isn't helping; it is just stalling for time and outrageously expensive. I spent 15 minutes on a call and spent more than 30 GBP! And the final result: please call again later!

Also, they are using the WORST feature of a call system - when you are waiting, they have a bloke announcing the news, so you can't even tune out while you are on hold.

Honestly, it feels like a scam. Avoid at all costs.

DOWN during volatility

Charles Schwab's trading platforms and entire website goes down just WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST for those rare occurrences when there's a market selloff (like 8/5/2024 0831 CST) and you could have made a quarter mil but instead you get a "sorry" after waiting an hour to get someone on the phone. When there's no volatility in the market and you could care less everything works just fine at Schwab.

Complaints filed

Just wanted to share a little about my experience with Charles Schwab . I've been with them For 3 or 4 years . If I could give them zero Stars I would . What they're doing right now Seems to be Criminal In my opinion . They advertise 24/7 Customer service But that is far from the case . It has been weeks now And there is no sign of me ever getting my money from them That I invested . I don't get to tell my creditors I am temporarily closed . And I'm not sure when you will get your money . If you deal with them Just be warned .
