Why pay £50 per person when can attend for free
For a mini rugby event held over the May Bank Holiday weekend in Chichester, this company charged £50 per player for registration and per person coming to watch the tournament - which you had to pay ahead of time. I had contemplated taking my daughter for one of the days so phoned them and asked if there was a different price for children attending just one day, I was informed I would have to pay £50 as she was over 3 years old. Another person in our group, ordered a ticket a week or two before the event and had to pay an extra £20 as the £50 price was an early bird one.
Who pays £50-£70 to watch a mini rugby tournament, you would pay that to watch an international game (cheap seats) or premier rugby game?
On the day of the event, I turn up to the rugby venue and there is no one checking for the tickets or arm bands and there is no enclosure around the venue so you can just walk in off the street to watch the rugby. I then realised I had been ripped off, I felt sorry for those who had paid for their whole family to come.
It confirmed what I had already suspected that this company is an events company with no interest in rugby but to make as much revenue as they can, without any conscience. They inform you that you cannot purchase tickets on the day of the event and therefore put a bit of pressure on you to pay up front. It's only because they know you can walk in for free.
If you do decide to use these guys, pay for one player registration ticket and not for any spectator ones. Don’t fall for the “you cannot purchase tickets on the day of the event” line, cos they want to squeeze from you as much cash as they can.
