I bought an Intex sand filter for my pool a couple of years ago, everything went fine until (just outside the warranty period) I became aware of a noise coming from my garden. I have the pump running on its timer but it was running late at night when it should have stopped.
When I tried pressing the buttons to reset or change the time or function, nothing worked. The only thing that functioned was on/off. Once it was turned on, it never went off, no matter what was on the display.
When I took off the cover, the circuit board had overheated and fused the live wire to the supply wire to the motor. This was also dangerously close to the earth wire.
The pump was just over two years old and so now is scrap, but a pool pump should really last at least ten years and the way it failed is trully scary.
