I really valued Irish Life as a pension provider when I was a customer. After 14 years I had to move my pension when I left my employer. Irish Life did two disappointing things - 1) They transf... See more

If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. Paying for this for years, and thankfully haven't needed it. But I injured my back and physio is included in my policy. I am now 6 weeks trying to get this sorted. No communication. No updates. Recommended me to a physio that did not know what their Back Up program was, and wanted me to pay. Received a feedback review, and gave them a terrible review and still no contact. No remedy. I now give up. I will pay for my own physio. I will never use these again. Avoid. Go to VHI.

Inefficient processes and repeated delays
My experience with Irish Life Pensions while attempting to draw down my PRSA has been frustrating and unnecessarily prolonged.
I submitted all requested ID and bank documentation at the outset. Despite this, I was later asked to provide the same documents again, with no clear explanation. This duplication caused avoidable delays.
There is no clear ownership of claims. Communication is inconsistent, often repetitive, and does not move things forward. Every query triggers a standard response quoting a 10 working day turnaround, which significantly slows even simple follow-ups.
I was initially told in early February that the process would take approximately 6 weeks. This timeline was not met. Instead, after months of correspondence, I have only recently been informed that payment has been requested, with a further 10–15 working days for processing, and an additional 3–6 weeks for taxable elements.
Accessing one’s pension should not be this protracted or unclear.
Based on this experience, I would recommend that others consider alternative providers for their retirement funds. The process I encountered was unreliable, unnecessarily drawn out, and does not inspire confidence in situations where timely access to funds should be a basic expectation.

Near two months trying to bleed them for simple information
Nearly two months trying to get all the docs they sent regarding a price increase after jumping it up 200e without me noticing because I am a dope apparently but they takes ages to respond asked me to verify who I was over email........THEN ONCE VERIFYING MYSELF EMAILING BACK TO SAY I NEEDED TO EMAIL SOMEONE ELSE.
They knew what I wanted before asking me to verify myself, they wasted 2 weeks on that and then the stupid pricks gave me an email address that did not work, another week wasted.
THEY COULD NOT FORWARD ON MY EMAIL THEMSELVES THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME AN ACTUALLY WORKING EMAIL ADDRESS AND NOW TWO WEEKS CHASING THEM UP WITH NO REPLY BUT I DISCOVERED THE ABSOLUTE MORONS GAVE ME A .COM EMAIL BUT THE EMAIL ADDRESS IS A .IE
Another thing I will say is Affidea are an absolute disgrace of a company too and Irish Life have no internal contacts with them
I got a kidney stone last year and I had the option of getting a scan in the Bons for 200e but I opted to get it done in Affidea, now no one told me they were short radiologists in Cork so I ended up waiting a month and a half before my scan was READ.....I got the scan within the week but it took them over a month to read it.
I had a CM and a half stone it turned out, I needed surgery I did not need to suffer in agony for an entire month but I did and chasing up Affidea is useless they have no internal escalations they are the worst support I have ever encountered. Affidea are an absolute joke but you have to deal with them.
THE ABSOLUTE CRAZY THING THOUGH, IRISH LIFE HAVE NO INTERNAL POINT OF CONTACT WITH THEM.
I was desperately trying to figure out when my scan was going to be read, Affidea could only tell me they were short radiologists they could not say would it be a week, two weeks a month.
That 200e could have saved me from so much agony.
They are disgustingly inept both Irish Life and Affidea

They don't cover enough for the fees they are charging. Only reason we are with them is my husband's company is paying for it but we pay benefit in kind tax and I do wonder what we get for it. I feel every year I ring there is less covered. And the digital doctor is a joke you cannot ever get an appointment always booked up
