Nag!Nag!Nag

Nag!Nag!Nag! I first received notice that my domain registration would be ending in 42 days. Within a week I started receiving multiple emails about renewing. Even after I renewed (a month early just to end the nag emails) I still received numerous nag emails. For almost 2 weeks in early September 2025! Next year I will be looking for a new vendor!!!

Extremely slow customer service

Extremely slow customer service. Their website makes it look like they are based in New Zealand but they are not. I have reached out multiple times over the last 6 days and have not heard from them in 5 days. Issue is still unresolved and urgent.

Longtime User Tip: Keep Your Primary Email Update

I've been using iwantmyname for many years and have always appreciated the service. Recently, I missed a renewal reminder because my account was still linked to an old email I no longer check regularly. Unfortunately, reminders weren’t sent to my secondary email, so I didn’t realise my domain had expired until I logged in—thinking the renewal was due at the end of August (was July).

Totally fair to say this was mostly on me, and I’ve now updated my account to use an active email.
That said, a simple SMS, something like “Your account is expiring in 15 days, just checking you got the email reminder”. Would’ve been a great backup.
If you're a longtime user like me, make sure your primary email is current to avoid missing important notices. iwantmyname continues to be my go-to, and I’m not planning to switch anytime soon.

Was great before the pandemic

Was great before the pandemic. Then they started raising prices every year after COVID was over. They need to let customers know that they’ll be auto-charged a full month before domains are set to expire - not good if you’re planning on discontinuing service.

I am a long time user of iwantmyname.

I have purchased domain names from iwantmyname for at least 10 years. I find the entire process from searching for names, to maintaining them, to pointing the name to my website very easy. I am not a professional and know nothing about DNS settings. Every time I have had a question I received a response very quickly. I am very satisfied with everything about iwantmyname.

Not what they used to be.

I wondered why the messaging from iwantmyname changed. The poorly worded reminders for example. The vibe is not the same as when I started using the company years ago. So I Googled and discovered it was sold and is no longer with the original New Zealand owners. Thought so. The ‘new’ website also sucks. My next step now is to find another register.
