Don't waste your money

Purchased $500 worth of plants and shrubs -- 24 in all -- in August. On Sep 20 I received a 18" x 12" box filled with 10 small creeping thyme plants ($100 of the total) and a packing list listing all of the plants I ordered.

I immediately emailed customer service and explained that my order was missing everything except the thyme. and forwarded the shipping notification email that indicated all the items were shipped, UPS proof of delivery photo showing one box, a photo of the box contents, and the packing list.

They replied back with zero apology for the mistake, and asked me to send them pictures of the "stamp" on the box, or photos of every side of the box, along with a list of the missing items.

I was annoyed because I already had forwarded *their own* email that listed all the items and had already said which ones I received. It doesn't take a investigator to deduce which ones were missing. It also doesn't take a genius to see that the small box filled to capacity with plants could not have also contained a hydrangea, two climbing roses, five creeping roses, and six other plants.

Regardless, I took photos of every label attached to the box and explicitly listed every missing item, item number, and quantity I'd ordered.

The next day I received another email telling me that I didn't send what they had asked for, and that they needed a copy of the list of items from the box (the packing list I attached to my original email).

There was literally no other information that I could provide, but I re-sent the packing list and took pictures of every side of the box, even though I'd already sent photos of all the shipping labels on it.

This morning I had a new email stating that one of the plants was now out of stock, and asking if I would like them replaced with another item from my order or a refund. No mention of the other 11 missing plants. I said that I would like a refund for the out of stock items and asked about the others.

I have now asked for updates twice and asked to have this escalated to their management team, and still no response.

Since I paid with PayPal, I have opened a case with them requesting a refund.

In contrast, I received two hydrangeas from a different company on Saturday, one of which was broken in shipping due to poor packaging. I sent them photos, and got an email the next day with an apology for the inconvenience and a shipping number for the replacement. THAT is how it should work.

After this mess, I will never spend another dime at Jackson and Perkins, Park Seed, or Wayside Gardens because they are all the same company. I wish I had read these before I wasted my time and money.

Need 2 day shipping to insure plants survive

Plants came and 1/3 were dead and all wilted. A very sick box of plants. I believe the shipping time is too long and the plants end of baking inside the box from the over 7 days of shipping. Maybe go to 2 day shipping for better results. Gwen in customer support refunded the damaged plants and handled this emotional issue with grace.

Not a good choice.

Ordered hydrangeas at a good price compared to other companies. I guess that’s a first warning. Upon ordering they were to ship in 3-5 days. Weeks later I was told they were shipping that week . Then I was informed they are back ordered. Will ship in 10 days. One month after ordering. Supposedly.

I cancelled as I dislike dealing with companies such as this.

Single most frustrating online shopping…

Single most frustrating online shopping experience I have ever had! I attempted to redeem a gift certificate that was given to me as a gift to memorialize the death of my step mother. When I entered the gift certificate number, I received an error message that the number was invalid. I attempted many times to refresh, retype and correct the issue. No luck. I sent a message to customer service explaining the issue. Their response the next day was sent simultaneously with a message saying that the issue was resolved. It was not resolved. I sent follow up information, as requested and waited another full day for a response. The customer service rep assured me that the gift certificate was still valid and suggested that I use a different browser. Because I had to change browsers, I could not remember the password for my account, so I requested to change it. The website told me that the link had expired or the email was incorrect. This started a loop of password change requests that were never accepted, even though auto generated emails verified that at least two of the password changes were successful (but neither of those passwords worked either). In desperation I tried the online chat feature and was told to abandon all hope and just call to place my order. I even attempted to manually re enter all the shipping and payment information to avoid the login issues, but had exactly the same experience with an "invalid gift certificate" error message. I am several hours over multiple days into what should be a straight forward transaction and still no closer to a resolution. And I am extremely disheartened that I still have to start the whole process over again to make a phone order.

The biggest issue through this ordeal for me is transparency of communication. If using the website to redeem a gift certificate is not possible and the preferred method for redeeming a gift card is over the phone, then J&P should just say so. If certain browsers are not compatible with their system for making online transactions, they should say so. If I need to wait a certain period after changing my account information, or if more information is needed before closing the issue, they should just say so.

I may have courage again in a few days to actually try to complete this transaction. Or I may not.

I ordered over 300.00 dollars worth of…

I ordered over 300.00 dollars worth of roses and peonies, order was placed in July as of today 3rd of Sept. I can not get any answers as to when it will be shipped. I have emailed, tried to call and tried the online e chat to which right after I entered all information it said it went off line with no icon any longer to chat. I have requested a date of reliever or a refund and all I get are crickets. At this point I just want my money back. I think a company would try harder to communicate with their customers. Never again.

I wish I had checked Trustpilot before…

I wish I had checked Trustpilot before I ordered their bareroot sales promotion. Jackson & Perkins need to identify their shipment as "Fragile", "Live Plants", "Hold for customer pick-up" because most postal carriers don't have any idea what is in the box. So they drove around all day long in the high heat with my shipment, and the buds all dropped off. I still planted them in the manner they suggested, but I don't see any life in the canes. Such a great disappointment! I spent nearly $100.

Their website also needs technical assistance. One cannot create an account - the personal information they ask cannot be entered for the customer's full birthday, e.g. day of month and year.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us Carol. Jarrod is going to reach out to you regarding your roses to discuss what our options are. We do mark the boxes with "Live Plants" but unfortunately sometimes that is missed by the carrier.

Regarding your ability to add your birthday - that section is when you are signing up for our newsletters. I was able to test it on a couple of browsers and it worked fine, if you don't mind, would you please email info@jacksonandperkins.com Attn: Gwen to let me know what browser you are using?
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know about your experience. We truly appreciate the feedback.

Bought Rhododendron Perfecto Mundo

Bought Rhododendron Perfecto Mundo. The first did arrive diseased and eventually with some difficulty, I got them to replace it. However, I was shocked to find that 'bush' is only about 3 inches wide. It will take years to get to a decent size. I put reviews on their website several times, but I realize they will not put any truthful negative reviews on their website.

Jack, We apologize for the misunderstanding with the size of the Jackson & Perkins plants. Rhododendrons are a slower growing plant that normally grow 10-12 inches per year depending on conditions. Our J & P plants are a little smaller than you would see in a local nursery, but within 1-2 years they will mature. Please email info@jacksonandperkins.com Attn: Chandra with your information and we will work on issuing a credit or refund for your Rhododendron Perfecto Mundo.
As for the reviews, we are behind in reviewing and publishing reviews on our Jackson & Perkins website, but we are working on getting all reviews up.

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. We appreciate you taking the time.

I spent almost $264 on their roses…

I spent almost $264 on their roses sale. Ordered May 24, 2024. They came they looked ok. Soaked them for 48 hrs planted and then we got a heat wave. I watered every day to help them grow. They look dead theirs no leaves or they are brown. I contacted Jackson Perkins got an email back the next day telling me. Oh give them 8 weeks and they should start growing. I am so mad. They have been in the ground almost 3 weeks now. Was told to cut the canes back which I do before I plant my roses Totally not worth the hassle or the money that I spent. After 8 weeks I am to contact them again with pictures. I should have sent pictures with the first email. Very dissatisfied and will not order again. It’s like shopping through Brecks. They don’t back up their guarantee. Never again! I sent an email to them back and hopefully they received the order info and the pictures but I did write I wasn’t interested in more roses to plant.

JACKSON AND PERKINS-Rose Bush Not the Color as Represented

I Ordered and received a “double delight” rose bush from Jackson & Perkins last fall. It was planted and winter set in. Roses don't grow nor bloom during winter months. The first bloom was light pink instead of deep, rich red as described. I attached a photo too. Did they send the wrong plant? The tag was correct. Can't tell color until it blooms. I never would have selected this bush. Not a pretty color. The Company's response was the bush is out of warranty. I will never order from them again. My 1st experience with them is my last. I have had better luck ordering from Home Depot and Bluestone Perennials. At least they honor what they are selling.

After writing the review, I heard back from Jackson and Perkins. I submitted documentation for "proof of purchase" upon which they processed a full refund for the purchase and shipping.

Received 4 bare-root roses yesterday and all were moldy on the canes and root systems.

J&P Customer Services replied that it is normal
“As the country continues to warm as we get more into spring, when rose shipments are in transit, they can develop white mold on the canes and sometimes the roots as well. This is NOT a serious issue and the roses can be rinsed and wiped, planted, and grow normally.”

This is the first and also the last purchase from Jackson & Perkins websites. It’s better to buy from Home Depot.

Jackson Perkins Sale Tricks - Beware

I was truly disgusted with Jackson Perkins website tricks. I have chosen a lot of plants (around $700.00) during your Memorial sale.
Some plants were not on sale and I tried one of “promo code” section you have to see if those plants could be purchased for a lower price.

GUESS WHAT! Promo code was “accepted” and then all other plants’ prices went up and I can’t even remove your “accepted code”!!!!
Price went $300.00 higher!!! with your “discount code “!

I am NOT going to shop again at that company and want to post warning for other customers.

2-Quart Peggy Martin claimbing rose

Ordered a 2-Quart Peggy Martin climbing rose from their online store on March 26, 2024. Did not receive the item until May 17 after multiple attempts to contact them. The item wasn't shipped from Jackson & Perkins but from one of their affiliates. The plan was shorter than a coke can and 80% of it was black dried on arrival. Contacted support about it but did not get a response.

This was a horrible experience and I will never buy from them again.

Lousy roses

I paid $99.90 for two roses, $131.51 with all the shipping charges and tax. When I opened the box, two very small roses, blooming, leaves turning brown and yellow, the containers they are in are bigger than the rose in them. NEVER AGAIN will I buy anything from J&P and this was a gift, I am ashamed to give it to them. Will probably go to Lowe's or Tractor Supply and get much better and bigger roses.

Beyond Disappointed, black canes/molded Roses

I bought my first Rose from J&P last fall (2023) and was 100% happy, the climbing rose is still doing great and very pleased with the quality.
Forward to March 12th 2024, I ordered 3 roses, 2 miniatures and 1 standard bare root.
I was expecting them to arrive towards the end of April per customer service, I received 2 of 3 May 8th, to my utter disappointment, they were black from stem to root and filled with mold.
I called customer service, a complete waste of time, they were silent on the phone after stating my complaint, I had to let this person know this isn’t normal and asked to speak to a supervisor.
I was told the horticulturalist would call me back.
I’m still waiting and am ready to contact my CC company to file a dispute.
I own a gardening business, this is for a client of mine who has been extremely patient, Im beyond frustrated at this point.
Can anyone recommend an alternative to J&P? I can’t work like this, it’s too stressful.
