The site comprised a large corrugated steel warehouse, several sectional buildings, portable cabins and containers, all contrasting with the original Victorian period weighbridge and gatehouse. The track partly buried in the road surface is called inset track and enables road vehicles to cross without damage either to themselves or the rails. There are several changes of surface at the yard and these can be modelled by various methods from embossed styrene sheets to balsa finished off with texture materials. Do remember to leave enough clearance on the inside of each rail to clear flanges properly. Also, for the locomotives to run properly it is vital to ensure that any adjacent paved surface does not protrude higher than the rails."
