Best Online Lessons

He has the best in-depth lessons. Jamie is an exceptionally talented guitarist and instructor. The resources and videos provided for each course make learning even the most difficult of songs obtainable. I’ve had a loop pedal for 15+ years and never really used it much until I discovered Jamie’s courses.

Sound like you want to sound

I purchased Jamies course to help me get over the intermediate stage of learning that I worked so hard to get to. With Jamie's course he outlined the clear understanding of music theory that I was definitely missing which transformed my playing from chaotic to intentional. What I really liked was that he empowers you to find your own sound utilising the songs of my favourite artists he covers in the course. He really focuses on helpful techniques that you can use in real time helping me sound like my music hero's but still keeping the individuality that I wanted. What Jamie will not do is the work for you, as he leaves it up to your to figure out your style of playing backed with solid music theory understanding to assist. Recommend the course to new and intermediate students trying to get over the hump.

I bought lifetime access to the 'I shot…

I bought lifetime access to the 'I shot the Sheriff' lesson. Coming from a jazz guitar background, I found this a great introduction to the strat world of guitar. I think Jamie has done a great service for any guitarist who is new to this musical style and is interested in learning more about it. I found the lesson a very tasteful arrangement of what is an extended and complex performance. To the best of my knowledge there is no other lesson or tab availible for this epic Clapton performance. The videos were a great addition to the tab in helping me become familiar with the techniques and nuances which bring the stat style to life - raking / micro bends ect. I'm glad I purchased this - the overall learning process offered, made internalising this piece an accessible experience. The only change I would suggest would be that - it could be helpful to have fingerings assigned to the more complex phrases on the guitar tab as a guide. But on the whole it was a very worthwhile purchase. Thank you Jamie,
Shane

The courses are great!

The courses are great!
Jamie is probably the only one that breaks down this style of songs explaining all the small nuances like the originals.
Definitely recommended! :)

Great lessons and structure

I just wanted to add my thoughts. I came across this as I was considering the subscription options.

If you have the time to devote each month to get the subscriptions worth then it’s absolutely worth it assuming you like the songs / Jamie’s interpretations/ style.

The videos are well structured, a reasonable pace and with enough practice depending on skill level you’ll get the songs down. I love the fact I can get hold of the tab on screen which accompanies the songs but am trying to break my reliance on this as Jamie suggests.

I haven’t tried the skills type courses as that not the areas I’m interested in at present. I’m just playing for fun and wanted to learn more songs.

I’ve tried stuff on you tube and other sites and yes you can still learn from those but they will take longer in my eyes. Heck, much like anything you could work out the songs yourself given enough time. So the way I see it, with Jamie you get structured content which you know will be at a good level. You are basically paying to save time and get there quicker with a level of quality. I can’t get hold of guitar instructors in my area for lessons (and know that would be very expensive now a days) so this is the next best thing.

I see the same with Adam Rafferty and Keb Mo (Truefire) stuff and this is on at least the same level but they are very different musical styles.

I’ve only had a few interactions with Jamie over email but every time he has been professional, polite and crafted well thought out responses. Honest opinion is he’s genuinely a nice guy. I asked him a technique question, he didn’t have to reply but came back with a great answer specific to me. I know he wouldnt be able to do this in all instances but the fact he tried to and puts the effort in gets a thumbs up from me.

Hope that helps people like me who come across this when they search for reviews and are on the fence.

Unlock Your Strat Potential with the JHG Guitar Course

The JHG pack is exceptional for anyone looking to improve or even start their journey with Strat-style playing. Each song is meticulously broken down into small, digestible pieces, making the learning process smooth and enjoyable. Unlike most online song courses, Jamie takes the time to explain the reasoning behind each note, which allows us to fully understand the song and develop skills for better improvisation and composition.

The JHG Method is also noteworthy. It is a comprehensive improvisation course aimed at late beginners or early intermediate players, yet it still provides valuable insights for advanced guitarists. The method emphasizes understanding musical concepts deeply, fostering creativity and skill growth.

The best part of the JHG experience is the personalized attention Jamie gives to each student. He ensures that every student receives a tailored roadmap suited to their individual needs. His dedication to addressing both technical issues and guitar-related feedback is a rare quality in today's virtual learning environment. This human touch makes the JHG courses truly stand out in the crowded space of online guitar courses.

Beware of cancelling subscriptions

Beware with Jamie’s subscription service. When I tried to cancel after the trial week, it offered me a discount to continue. I decided to continue but then it left me with 2 separate subscriptions. One at full price and one discounted.
Despite the system then showing both of them as cancelled (I have screenshots) it still took a payment on sub 1 and then another few days later another payment on sub 2.
Jamie responded to emails at first but since asking for a refund I have had no response for several days and it looks like I’ll have to commence a dispute with my bank.
I have purchased a bundle of his courses in the past prior to him adopting the subscription model so it’s a shame the relationship has now been soured.

Reply from Jamie Harrison Guitar

Dear Readers,

My name is Jamie Harrison and I am the owner of this business. I have, to date, written to Matthew personally 8 times to try and resolve the situation, and make him feel better about what happened. He has opened all of those emails, yet I have received no response from him. I want you to know the full truth of this situation as it is absolutely not fair to have my reputation tarred by this review.

The short truth is this. It is correct that Matthew was charged twice. Although this happening was entirely my responsibility, and I have profusely apologised to Matthew for this, the reason that it happened is that he was using a highly private browser called DuckDuckGo which doesn't store cookies. Cookies are needed to cancel the initial subscription as they are where we temporarily store the users name to look through the database and find a match to cancel. When I wrote the code for this, I simply didn't know about such browsers as they are used by a tiny percentage of the population. It was a simple technical oversight, which I entirely accept should not have happened, but there was nothing nefarious going on here, and I wholeheartedly reject the implication that there was. However, let me be very clear, the total amount was refunded immediately after our initial email exchange, and even the additional payment was refunded, which I had the legal right not to do given that Matthew had explicitly agreed to the terms of my site multiple times and such refunds are not offered.

Regarding the lack of response for 3 days, at that time my Aunt of 70 passed away unexpectedly from a very aggressive form of cancer, and I also lost a friend to suicide in Austria. I had to fly to Ireland to literally visit my Aunt on her death bed and say goodbye to her, and I then had to fly to Austria the next day to sing at the funeral of my friend. While it is true that I took 3 days to respond, Matthew felt the need to leave up a review to damage my business without considering that two friends and family dying this same week was not forgivable enough for him to allow a few days for a response.

On top of his refunds, to apologise, I offered Matthew free products and any other solution he would like to suggest to help repair to the relationship. I value all my students, and would never want to 'sour' any relationship. But all my attempts at reconciliation were ignored. I am 100% confident that I dealt with the situation with extreme professionalism, and I did not in any way deserve a poor review. Mistakes happen in every business. Even in the biggest businesses in the world mess up sometimes. I have made many mistakes over the years, but the true test of a good business in my opinion is if a business can accept their mistake and do everything they can to make up for it to the customer. With that said, there is such a thing as an 'impossible customer', and sadly, Matthew is one of those. He would prefer to leave a bad review to try and damage a small business than take the offers to make up for it and move on amicably. This is especially surprising since he has been a repeat customer of mine for several years, so he knows that I strive for the highest levels of quality.

As I have mentioned several times. I accept responsibility for my mistakes. On a very technical and un-human level, maybe I should have known about private browsers, and maybe I should have responded to Matthew as I sat by my Aunts bed and held her hand for the last time so that he didn't have to wait for a response. But I have done my very best, and 100% of other customers in the past who have had anything go wrong have been extremely understanding, respectful and compassionate in such instances. However, in this case, my best was not enough. For that I can only apologise, but there is nothing remaining I can do.

If you would like to see screenshots of all of my responses to Matthew to verify all that I have said, please email me an I will be happy to share.

Phenomenal Customer Service and Turn Around Time

I was experiencing technical difficulties with Jamies site due to some upgrades he is making with his online offerings.

I reached out via email and he got back to me with the problem resolved in less than 12 hours.

Thats faster than anything I've ever experienced as far as online trouble shooting support goes.

Also, Jamie is a phenomenal teacher. I don't feel like I am all that developed as a guitar player and he has made learning very technically challenging songs much easier than I otherwise would have thought.

A method to be trusted

Along with the best selection of tunes out there (in my opinion), Jamie’s efforts to put himself in our shoes creates a great learning experience. Therefore I trust the method completely which is the best way to make progress. Well done !

JHG Rig is incredibly good

After having purchased various courses from Jamie and always having been 100% satisfied, I also got the JHG Rig and have used it for a year now. I am a very happy Kemper user and did not believe the JHG Rig could be much better, but I find myself not using the Kemper for this style of music anymore and Jamie's rig is incredible. I guess a very experienced user could dial in similar tones in the Kemper or some other rigs, but I realized that getting it down to the level Jamie is achieving is not realistic for me. Great product, once again! I can recommend this 100%!
