This company is ruthless, rude and incompetent organisation

This company is ruthless, rude and incompetent. I dont know how they can put additional charges on a bill when you been sent to them because your finding it hard to pay. There must be a better way First Port can recovery amounts. They even put the phone down on me NO professionals Conduct. The abuse harassment puts you under even more stress. They are not helpful they are debt collectors using the name solicitors to cover up what they are actually doing. They have no empathy for any situation you bring to them. DISGUSTING company and the people working in there is the same.

A minus star rating would be more appropriate. They are debt collectors working with FirstPort property service provider. Any delay with service charge payment and the debt is handled by Leitch. They will add their own list of charges which are virtually impossible to challenge and as a bonus not communicate in a good way. Appalling.

extorionists

This firm claims to be solicitors but are actually debt collectors of the worst kind. They have actively refused payment by inventing new charges every time I agree the amount to be paid, and then refuse the payment for the already agreed amount unless I pay the new charges on top. You cannot speak to anyone with any agency and their sole purpose appears to be extortion. I am pregnant and extremely stressed by this situation. As a company they combine severe incompetence with cold racketeering. If you ever see a letter with their name on it, I suggest you contact your original creditor and pay the sum immediately.

Cowboy Outfit.

I have received a letter before action from JB Leitch demanding payment within 10 days for outstanding Service Charges with additional extorionate Fees added.
Their client, Taray Properties Ltd, alleges to be our management company, although all they have done is send threatening pieces of paper purporting to be invoices.
Taray has instructed this cowboy outfit to chase the alleged debt together with extorionate, almost laughable, fees for doing nothing apart from sending a letter!
Due diligence was not done by JB Leitch into Taray to see if their claims are valid. No documents or details sent to support the alleged claim.
Also as solicitors, JB Leitch should know our Freeholder has been placed into liquidation and all leaseholders would have been instructed by the administrator not to pay ANYTHING TO ANYONE.
Given I don't owe the amounts stated in the claim I am of the opinion that JB Leitch are no more than Scammers and Bullies, the lot of them. How they are still 'acting' as solicitors is beyond me.
Letters of complaint being sent to all the relevant organisations ie SRA etc.
Our local MP has now contacted JB Leitch for a comment on this matter that has also been raised by my neighbour.

Truly evil firm

Truly evil firm who tried to scam my parents out of over £10,000. Both MP Justin Madders (who has raised concerns about them in parliament), and my local MP will be receiving letters about their shocking conduct, as well as a complaint to the SRA. My heart goes out to anyone who has had to deal with them. How are you not embarrassed to be working for such an organisation?

Scumbags.

Scumbags.
Not professional. Not intelligent. Simply scumbags. Avoid at all costs and never buy a leasehold with Firstport.

Negative score is more accurate

Negative score is more accurate
This firm charged a relative >£500 pounds as pre-legal fees. What is pre-legal? They did nothing!!
An email has been sent to them to explain that the service charge was paid slightly late, however the late payment date was already agreed with the service charge company. In their letter they confirmed that service charge was paid but this is their pre-legal fees!!!The amount is clearly for writing this letter to say that money was paid and threatens for further action if their pre-legal fees are paid!!!

Parasites and extortionists

These vile parasitic scumbags charged me over £1000 for a £166 debt in administrative and legal costs. These people are extortionists plain and simple, they symbolise everything wrong with this country. Scum.

Could not have been more rude

Could not have been more rude, dismissive, or unhelpful.

The receptionist was genuinely friendly and helpful — the solicitor was the exact opposite.

After seeing all the terrible reviews this firm has, I shouldn’t have been surprised. JB Leitch, you need to do far better. The issues mentioned in your reviews are not one-offs — they’re recurring and embarrassingly consistent. 😬

Even more frustrating is how you respond to criticism. Constantly dismissing negative reviews as ‘not been posted by JB Leitch’s many satisfied commercial clients’ (yeah, right) is ridiculous when almost every review says the same thing. Brushing off feedback instead of fixing the problems shows a shocking lack of accountability.

And you want people to come to you for legal advice when this is how you are? I sincerely hope the receptionist (apologies I didn’t catch your name) finds a place that matches her professionalism and friendliness — because it’s clearly not here.

It’s frustrating that one star is even…

It’s frustrating that one star is even an option. This firm charged me nearly £1,400 for a simple debt collection task, which, after consulting the Leasehold Advisory Service, is clearly excessive.

Their client, Pier Management, has also charged me over £1,043 in insurance premiums (over three years) despite me demonstrating that I could obtain much cheaper insurance elsewhere.

Leaseholders should not have to deal with such unreasonable and inflated charges. When will this nightmare for leaseholders finally end?

Leitch, a disgrace to the legal profession

Leitch. act for First Port, a company which is difficult to describe other than racketeers and extortionists. First Port's activities (likely to soon be outlawed) are aided and abetted by Leitch. Leitch do not even have the wherewithal (or decency) to send their threats to a correct address.

I am providing this review based on my experience

I am providing this review based on my direct experience with J B Leitch LLP concerning alleged estate charges and associated administration costs.

Despite repeated, reasonable requests for documentation and transparency:

My account was referred to a debt collection agency without prior notice, which constitutes a significant procedural concern.

Charges labelled as “administration costs” were applied without proper itemisation, justification, or supporting evidence, contrary to professional standards expected of solicitors.

Correspondence sought to characterise statutory rights to recourse via the First-tier Tribunal as a ‘threat’, which is inappropriate and inconsistent with the proper exercise of legal practice.

Communication has been dismissive and aggressive, impeding constructive resolution of the dispute.

Professional standards require solicitors to act fairly, transparently, and proportionately. In my experience, J B Leitch LLP has not met these obligations. I would strongly advise clients to ensure full documentation and verification before responding to any claims from this firm.

Chased Me for a Bill Not Even Due Yet

JB Leitch pursued me for “non-payment” of an insurance bill that was not even due — my invoice clearly showed the correct due date weeks away. Despite this, I was threatened with legal action and repeatedly told I was in breach of my lease.

When I tried to explain, the agent was dismissive, threatened several times to end the call, and ultimately hung up. The follow-up email I was promised would “explain my obligations” contained nothing useful — only generic information and screenshots of their system. No real effort was made to investigate or resolve the issue.

I eventually contacted the property manager directly, who admitted the case had been raised in error, reinstated my account, and confirmed I could pay as normal. In other words, the case was utterly without merit from the start — but it still caused me needless stress and wasted time.

JB Leitch I can only describe as a…

JB Leitch I can only describe as a demonically criminal company. After receiving a bill of £4111.34 on the 9th July 2025, £456.00 of this was administrative fees £625.20 legal costs, this bill jumped to £5835.34 on Monday 1st Sept.
No information on how the increases are calculated. I phoned them numerous times, only to have the phone put down on me every time.
I finally spoke to somebody and was told that there was an administrative error in the amount they had calculated. Again, couldn't get a correct figure or any reply to my emails.
There is a deliberate effort on their part, to fleece people out of money, but the scale is demonic.
I have contacted the Legal Ombudsman in the hope of some redress.
I cannot believe this sort of thing can happen legally .

Very Bad Expirience

This Company has a terrible reputation that is well deserved. J B Lietch rely on intimidation with vast amounts of irrelevant paperwork on cases that are easily resolved with normal procedure. They create their own business with cases that are already fixed.
You have to ask the question . Why would a company choose to employ a solicitor with such a bad reputation ?
