Hairdresser did not come

I made an appointment for my son at 4:30 p.m., drove there, and then had to wait because the hairdresser was not even in the salon. We were waiting 20 minutes for him then left. Horrible experience! The hairdresser should be there on time to clean and prepare the workspace. Very disappointed.

Do not go to Jean Louis David in Algarve Shopping Mall, Guia

I recently visited the JLD salon in Guia to inquire about a root tint and ask which products they use. I was quoted a price and assured they use the L’Oréal range, which I know and trust—one I’ve never had an allergic reaction to.

The male hairdresser informed me that blow-drying incurs an extra cost, which I declined. He also said that even brushing the hair costs an additional €16.

The tint was applied and I was left waiting for around an hour without any update. Eventually, I had to ask if it was ready to be washed off. A female staff member responded that it only takes 40 minutes. I had to request the rinse myself—there was no initiative on their part.

During washing, my hair was shampooed twice with products I was never shown. One had an overpowering scent. When I asked about conditioner, I was told it was only available at an extra charge. They offered an alternative conditioning mask for €6.50. In my 30 years of colouring my hair across the globe, I’ve never encountered a salon that charges separately for basic conditioner—especially after a chemical treatment.

I left the salon with wet, unbrushed hair, drawing stares from shoppers in the mall. I had to go home and rewash and condition my hair myself. Later that evening, my scalp began to itch. That’s when I realised that no patch test had been performed before applying the tint. Despite being a new client, the hairdresser rushed me straight into the chair—something I find both neglectful and unprofessional.

I suspect the salon displays professional products but may actually be using cheaper substitutes without informing customers. Their pricing structure feels misleading and exploitative.

I won’t be returning to JLD. I was once a regular customer at the Loule branch and frequently purchased Kerastase products there—but after this experience, I will not return to any of the JLD salons.

Do not go to this hairdressers

I went to the salon in the Forum in Coimbra, my stylist was Andrea. I showed her a picture of the style I wanted which was easily achievable. She immediately cut my hair too short for the style I requested, I spoke to her again and showed her the picture again, she didn't respond in any way. At the end she apologised for cutting my hair too short. Too little too late. I ended up being charged for a style that bore no resemblance to the style I wanted. It is now going to take me about 6 months with a style I hate to grow it out so I can get the style I originally requested. Don't waste your money at this salon, what the customer wants and pays for is of no Interest to them, they do what they want!!!

Do you want to have an orange and green hair?

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received at the Jean Louis David salon located in the Arrábida Shopping Mall in Portugal. I recently visited the salon in search of a treatment for my frizzy hair. However, this turned out to be the worst experience I have ever had at a hair salon.

Upon arrival, I was approached by a hairstylist named Weverton, who recommended an Alfaparf treatment priced at €220. Although I found this to be excessively expensive, he assured me that it was the best product available and that it would leave my hair looking beautiful. Unfortunately, this was far from the truth.

Upon completion of the treatment, I was shocked to find that my hair had turned a bright ORANGE color. The salon staff argued that they were unaware of any previous treatments I had undergone, but this does not excuse the outcome. They attempted to rectify the situation by applying a purple mask and later a toner, which did improve the color slightly, but it still remained an odd, greenish shade. To add insult to injury, I was unexpectedly charged an additional €25 upon leaving the salon, without any prior notification or explanation.

In my opinion, if a professional makes a mistake, it is their responsibility to rectify it without imposing further costs on the client. I strongly believe that there is something fundamentally wrong with the products used at Jean Louis David, and it is evident that their primary focus is on profit rather than customer satisfaction.

I am extremely disappointed with the overall experience and the lack of professionalism displayed by the salon staff. I will never be returning to Jean Louis David and will be sure to share my negative experience with others. I expect a prompt response and a satisfactory resolution to this matter.
