I have purchased 19 Jeld wen Doors and…
I have purchased 19 Jeld wen Doors and 12 windows through Lowes. My issues / problems with the company and products are below:
1. The Door frame material was weak, hinges began to come out of the frame and sagged inward with the screws supplied. A carpenter tried to use longer screws to improve grip but found no structural purchase. We had to glue in oversize wooden dowels and drill holes in them to reattach the doors.
2. I contacted Jeld Wen and Lowes to purchase touch up paint after the repairs, Jeld wen asked to contact Lowes, I did, they advised using a paint spray can which was too dark. I contacted Jeld Wen again and was told that they would not sell me the paint and to go back to Lowes.
I'm Just caught in a No Help trap between both Jeld Wen and Lowes. Going to go to Sherwin Williams to see if they can do a decent match.
3. The carpenter who did the repairs said he could have made the same size of doors, similar design in solid wood for about 30 % less price.
I will not buy their products again. Made a bad mistake.
I need 7 windows but just purchased 3…
I need 7 windows but just purchased 3 to start. I was at work when the contractor installed them. The screens do not have a frame and two were torn.I phoned Jeld Wen to ask if I could get frames made and was told that they no longer make frames and to find a different company to make them for me.
All the equipment was not installed…
All the equipment was not installed properly, and when I complained to the company they mailed the missing items to be installed and said I have to be the one to do the install even though I paid $5k for the door. Services is horrible, and I would never use this company over this situation with my door.
Terrible Service Terrible Quality
I purchased a part glazed door from this company via B&Q, when it arrived it was of very poor qaulity with plastic broken from around the glass and not even cut to size with gaps around the glass, I started the returns process which can only be described as shocking!! it took 2weeks for the door to be collected with 3 failed collection days waiting for DX the courier company, I was informed that a refund can't be processed until the door was returned, it as now been 2 weeks and I still have no refund after numerous phone calls to B&Q who tell me that will come from Jeld Wen
it has been escalated 4 times to them with no payment or response
PLEAS AVOID AT ALL COST
It really qualifies for 0 stars
It really qualifies for 0 stars. We bought door and had it installed in 2020. I have been trying to obtain a resolution since Nov 2023. I had installed a vinyl patio door that opened in the middle. It is leaking air at top of door. When setting in living room you can feel the air coming in through crack at top. I have called and emailed pictures of door, sent copy of receipt and now am being told that since it was bought at a Building Supply Store and not the big box stores that I have to go through the Building Supply Store and not their customer service dept/warranties dept. I have jumped through every hoop possible. I will never buy this brand again and do not recommend.
Worst Customer Service EVER
This company sent broken windows to us not once but twice and I couldn’t sell or rent out my property. Lost over $7000.00 in rent for 8 weeks delays and the company offers $70.00 for the inconvenience. And they still haven’t finished the project
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
less than adequate
Clunky, poor rail contact and sticking on regular windows, sliding window in kitchen had handle come off during normal use and now can't open window at all, they look nice but apparently not engineered to last more than a few years, sad because now we have to spend thousands to replace our windows
Worst windows in 50 years
Menards Jeld-Wen Premium windows were the best priced three-pane new construction models we could find in the Chicago area and the worst we've ever had. After special ordering two stock sizes, we had to wait weeks before they came in. One arrived with a bent and ripped full screen. Others had so much glue/caulk oozing out of their seams it took us a full day to clean them up. The double hungs wouldn't lock properly--bottom and top were too spread apart--and after going around and around through repeated phone calls, customer service finally sent us special plastic shims. Then the top sashes wouldn't open...we were told the jostling they'd get during shipping would often jam them. Even when we followed instructions and yanked them free, they never worked smoothly. These are truly the worst windows we have ever bought and we've tried used Andersens, Window World (twice) and Pro-Via.
Jeld-Wen Screens Will not Stay in Place
Installed (11) Jeld-Wen casement windows purchased from Menards in September 2022. Windows arrived with the worst design of insect screens that are held in place by friction only. One in particular would only stay in place for a couple of weeks. Windows were installed in a 3-season room. Someone should have disclosed the screens were not reliable. Went to Menards to order a replacement and was told I would need pay for it. Paid for it and when in came in was the wrong size. Menards agreed should have been covered by warranty and ordered (11) new screens which they stated will be covered by warranty. When arrived at the store, Jeld-Wen pulled and cancelled the order. Will never buy Jeld-Wen in the future.
poor quality expensive wooden…
Our house has very expensive wooden windows supplied by Jeld Win, they have already had to come out and fix these once under warranty and are refusing to do so a 2nd time.
Don't buy Geld Wen!!
Horrible windows! Don't waste your money! I made the mistake of assuming all vinyl sliders would be about the same. Wrong! I liked vinyl sliders because they're easy to remove in order to get the entire window, screens & tracks clean. But not Geld Wen! They're very difficult to remove along with the screens. Terrible waste of money! I can't afford to replace them. These windows will unfortunately be a source of frustration for years, perhaps decades to come. I tried removing a screen today & the tab came off. Currently resorting to cleaning the screen & window in place as best I can. SMH. Terrible product...amazing they remain in business!
Internal glass panel shattered
Internal glass insert panel sliding / folding door. Spontaneously shattered behind me while I was watching tv, so nowhere near it. Jeld Wen arent interested. OK its out of warranty, but this is a serious safety issue that must have been an inherent issue. Its one of 4 sections, so no choice by buy another section (>£100) or replace with another manufacturers all 4 sections. Not impressed by Jeld Wen or Screwfix that also arent interested in the issue.
Terrible windows
Jeld-wen windows were already installed in our house near Plymouth, Devon.
Since we moved in three years ago we have had nothing but problems with the sash windows.
Cold air comes into the house, leaking patio doors, paint flaking off the wood, poor finish and quality.
The sash windows could hardly be opened,we complained numerous times and they blamed site contamination and our lack of maintenance!
They have finally admitted it was a fault with the counter balances and have now replaced them.
Do yourself a favour and avoid this company.
THESE PEOPLE ARE SCUM
THESE PEOPLE ARE SCUM! NO RESPONSE TO AN ORDER THEY MESSED UP.
Terrible pre sales service
I was trying to source some internal doors and found a design from Jeld Wen that I really liked and roughly the correct size.
I had a couple of queries, but repeated emails and phone messages went unanswered with the exception of one (but the rep failed to provide all the information required).
I did not believe that a company still trading could be as bad as other reviews indicated, but they are and this was before I had even placed an order.
I am now placing an order for a less preferred door but not with Jeld Wen
terrible customer service and after care!
My contractor ordered an impact slider door thru Lowes made by this company. Leaks in the room below it everywhere! After filing a clsim, submitting multiple documents and pictures they refuse to come out to see whether it is the door or an installation error unless I pay a whopping $160 inspection fee.
Their rep at Lowes, Rockledge Florida Dennis does not stay on top of things, promises to call and drags his feet. Buy another brand door, wish I had!
