Baiting and scheming
On May 26, 2026, I was charged $15.19 and then $69.98 for a JobEscape “upsell.” The sales flow and marketing immediately appeared misleading, and I attempted to cancel the charge right away. I did not meaningfully access, download, or use the service.
Instead of honoring my prompt cancellation, the company pushed me into what felt like a deceptive retention funnel. I received a rapid stream of promotional emails with exaggerated claims, shifting offers, and pressure‑based messaging. The offers kept changing—from extra access, to supposed “lifetime” access, to a 50% refund—none of which addressed the fact that I had already canceled and had not used the product. I accepted the 50% refund only to end the interaction, but the refund was never processed.
During the dispute, the merchant claimed the service was delivered and accessed, yet provided no meaningful usage evidence—no course completion, downloads, or actual engagement. Their submission relied on generic policies rather than proof.
Additionally, the contact information changed. The phone number visible immediately after the transaction disappeared from the PayPal page, leaving only a generic support email. This change makes my original cancellation attempt harder to verify and raises further concerns about transparency.
Overall, the company’s behavior focused on retaining payment through shifting offers and pressure tactics, not on honoring an immediate cancellation.
Beware of the bait.

I will say that so far, the instruction is incredibly easy to follow and understand. I am looking forward to diving into the upcoming modules that cover new, unfamiliar territory to really put my skills to the test!
