I started to lose my hair at 27 years old.confirmed it was Alopcia It was devastating. It would come and go then went and stayed went. So I didn’t start wearing wigs straight away. I have had many wigs in the past from online stores , and they were ok. Even NHS ones though I wasn’t so happy with them but did the job.
I am now 80 years old . Of course I’ve have changed especially my face. I could not find a wig that suited me at this time of my life. Also I have a small head.
Today changed that spectacularly . I made an appointment at Joseph’s wigs in Morden. To be totally honest I wasn’t expecting anything different., BUT I had not met Claire . I couldn’t believe the three wigs she initially showed me , I loved them all , all of them . Sorry Claire I did get over excited 😛 that wasn’t the end every wig she brought out I loved. . I actually picked one I didn’t even know I wanted 🤭 colour was lighter than I would have gone for but with the years of her experience it was perfect. So that came home with me and I love it. In the past I have had to do some improvements to the wig chopping it. Not this one I’m wearing now , it is perfect
Thank you for your help Claire you have made an old lady very very happy. I’ll be back .

This was my second purchase of the same wig , I was thrilled with the first one and loved the colour and style. It’s also nice to know that they are there to assist if any problems arise

I recently visited Joseph’s Wigs to enquire about a wig as I am undergoing Chemo for Cancer. I visited their site and was very pleased with reviews and was very pleased with the quick response from Stuart and arranged an appointment. Claire was amazing and went through everything that I had queries about. I was treated with the utmost respect and kindness, nothing was too much and was measured and shown wigs that I was looking for and I must say I did get a lovely wig that I am so very pleased with. I would highly recommend them and also very reasonably priced. Thank you both for all your help and making me feel so relaxed.

Quick, efficient service as always and very discreet.
Nothing is too much trouble for Stuart and his team, from the first point of contact to the delivery day they are just a phone call away. Got a problem? No problem, just give them a call and it’s sorted there and then. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!!

EDIT AFTER COMPANY RESPONSE
While I appreciate the company's prompt reply, I do feel the need to comment on a few inaccuracies in the response provided:
1) To say that measurements were shared with me is incorrect. I was informed that my head size was petite, but specific measurements were not communicated.
2) No other notes were made during the appointment, contrary to what is being suggested.
3) I understood that not all styles and colours listed by email would be available in-store. Stuart sensibly set that expectation prior to the booking, but in no instance did he say that this would result in a shorter appointment time.
4) Each of the wigs produced had tags attached. However, I was not offered the chance to look at the wigs in any meaningful way. The boxes were strategically placed to the far side of the room. While I fully appreciate that the wigs were not tester pieces, the atmosphere was not one where I felt comfortable to even touch the wigs being placed on my head. No explanation was provided about the wigs being shown until I asked, and even then, basic information was delivered in a rushed manner that felt somewhat evasive.
One would expect a company with decades of industry experience to use a client consultation to clearly demonstrate that expertise. Unfortunately, this was not my experience. To attribute the shortened appointment to a limited selection of wigs feels more like an excuse than a reason.
In all, this interaction reflects the hallmarks of a traditional, conservative business that may need to rethink its long-term strategy if it wishes to remain competitive in an evolving market, especially with newer, more client-centred wig providers now emerging. I sincerely wish them all the best.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
I had really hoped for a positive and supportive experience from my in-person consultation, especially as Joseph’s wigs is a family-run business. I’ve waited about a week to reflect before writing this review, so that I could be fair and honest.
The appointment was supposed to last an hour, but it was over in just 20 minutes. After travelling two hours to get there, I met Claire. She wasn’t rude, but she also wasn’t particularly warm. I explained that I’d recently been diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia and was feeling sad but hopeful about the world of wigs. That felt like an opportunity for a kind word or a more positive, even fun, spin on wig-wearing, but she didn't respond. She asked to take my head measurements but didn't offer to tell me what these measurements were, just that I had a small head and this would make buying wigs difficult.
Throughout the consultation, she seemed very hesitant to share the names of any of the wigs I tried on or the colours, which made it harder to feel informed or confident in what I was seeing. I wasn’t given the opportunity to wear any of the four wigs for more than a few seconds nor was I invited to view them in natural light. I also wasn’t offered something as basic as a glass of tap water.
It felt as though Claire had already decided I wouldn’t be buying anything on the day and therefore didn’t make much effort to engage. From a brand loyalty perspective, this is a missed opportunity, as I was willing to spend a significant amount and would have ordered through their website at a later date.
The fact that Joseph’s wigs seem to be one of very few wig shops to have a bricks and mortar store is the reason I chose to visit; if the customer service received was good, I would have bought from them despite there being other retailers that stock the same wigs at more competitive prices.
Sadly, the shop itself is small and gloomy... a refresh could help, particularly if they hope to attract a younger demographic. That said, Claire did mention that, for what it’s worth, the hair density didn’t look too much on me, and that was a nice comment.
Overall, though, the consultation felt stilted and lacking in warmth, empathy and guidance. I hope this review offers a genuine customer perspective that the husband and wife team can improve from. I wish them success, as it’s clear they have lots of happy customers, I just wasn’t one of them.

I phoned Joseph’s Wigs, desperate for help after a terrible experience somewhere else and from the moment Stuart answered the phone,I knew this was going to be just fine! Claire was so kind, helpful and an absolute expert in wig consultations! I was able to try on so many different options and Claire guided me through the pros and cons of each product so that I could make an informed decision as to what suited my lifestyle the best. I picked up my hair piece today and I feel confident, happy and like a celebrity! Everyone thinks I have just been to the hair dresser! I cannot thank Claire and Stuart enough and I would highly recommend Joseph’s Wigs!

So pleased that I chose Joseph's Wigs to order my first wig. Website was lovely and user friendly to spend the time making my decision. The item arrived very quickly and luckily it ticked all the boxes. I have since been in touch with a couple of questions from a newbie. Each time Stuart has replied and given me valuable advice. It's comforting to know it's so easy to get in touch. I am sure I will return as am already admiring styles which I had not considered before. Thank you

I've sung the praises of Claire and Stuart before and I'll do it again. Not only because I now have wigs that feel truly part of who I feel myself to be, but because when one of them did not work for me, it was exchanged with understanding and without demur. Expertise and experience you might expect in the sensitive matter of finding your look in a wig, but care, kindness and flexibility when something is not right - that is surely the true test of a service. I cannot thank these people enough, nor recommend them too highly.

Awful creepy experience.
I booked an appointment for a wig as I am receiving chemo. On the way to the appointment, I received a call cutting my appointment short as they were 'running late'. When we were finally seen, we were made to feel really uncomfortable, like the assistant really hated her job. There were so many negative attitudes towards the wigs and me. We ended up trying to humour/reassure her. Not what you want. The whole vibe of the place was creepy, like Steptoe's store. We left empty handed. I have now bought a wig via NHS/Macmillan at my local hospital. Lovely service, so caring and upbeat. The price was 1/8 of what it would have been at Joseph's, and the care and service was second to none. If you can get an NHS wig, then go for it! If you're on treatment, you're entitled to a heavily discounted wig every 6 months, along with all the hair products you need.

Fantastic experience buying a wig at Joseph’s wigs. Claire made me feel totally at ease from the moment she answered the door to me. She was very sensitive to my needs and went off to find several wigs for me to try on. There was no pressure to buy. She made me feel empowered and I walked away with a fabulous wig at a fantastic price. Thank you so much.
