I had a very bad experience with this motorcycle rental company.

I paid a €500 deposit, and I returned the bike in perfect condition. I was told that the deposit would be refunded within 10 working days. It has now been more than 10 days, and I still haven’t received my money.

Now they are telling me that I need to pay €100 for fuel before they can release my €500 deposit. This makes no sense — if there were any costs, they should simply deduct it from the deposit, not ask me to send more money first.

This feels very unprofessional and suspicious. I do not recommend this company. Be very careful before renting from them.

No refund of deposit

Rented a motorcycle and paid a €500 deposit. Motorcycle returned in perfect condition, no damage from me, with photos at pickup and return.
Company refused to return deposit. Chargeback opened.
Be cautious — deposits may not be returned fairly.

Bikerental

Unfortunately, I have not had a positive experience. In my opinion, the motorcycles on offer do not meet the expected standards. Furthermore, my questions regarding permitted environmental zones were not answered clearly or correctly.
Ultimately, one ends up with fines that could have been avoided through clear communication and unambiguous answers to questions.

Dishonest and extortionate fees.

Firstly, they overcharged me for the bike which also turned out to be a bit knackered with a loose chain and sticky unresponsive breaks.

But the real issue was that it took 3 weeks for me to get my deposit back and many calls and messages.

They refused to return the deposit until I paid them a further up to €150 because the cheap and old lock on the rear box which was never working properly and corroded finally gave in and crumbled into several pieces.

Not only was I not liable to pay for it full stop - but I could have fixed and replaced it myself for about €10.

Unscrupulous profiteering.

STAY AWAY!

I booked a motorcycle, and what a surprise when I got there to pick it up. It was nothing like the pictures. Dangerous state: many cables are not covered, and users refuse to use them. The only alternative offered was a downgrade, which had its own issues—stayed over 1 hour with them to resolve it. Took them almost 1 month to pay back the deposit, and they still refuse to compensate for the downgrade to this day. Unacceptable.
Not a very serious company at all. Take a car or go to a shop where you can see the vehicles.

Do not rent from Jota Cafe

Do not rent from Jota Cafe! I rented a bike, followed all their rules, and still haven't received my €300 deposit refund. The rental was from 3-10 September, with a promised refund by 22 September. It's now 27 September, and I've received neither the refund nor any communication. They even deleted our chat history, which is highly suspicious. I've had to dispute it with my credit card company and am considering filing complaints. Their silence and lack of transparency are unacceptable. If you value your money and time, steer clear of Jota Cafe.

Deposit scam!

The communication was good as well as the actual motorbike. No pre-order, we just went to their office in Barcelona. Eveything was fine. I asked them why they have such bad rating on all platforms. They told me that people often don't understand that it takes up to 10 business days, from the return of the motorbike, to return the deposit.

4 weeks after the return of the motorbike, we realised they are still holding our deposit! Any other rental company just blocks the amount on your card and with no further action, the bank will eventually release it. But this company simply deducts the money. So they actually need to proactively return it.

I was pretty harsh on them when I realised this. They immediately sent it back. But if I haven't noticed, they would keep my 500€.

Shame on you! This is not mistake, but systematic scam!

Avoid it like the plague!

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. ZERO assistance, NO support whatsoever, and completely unreachable when you need help. Deeply unprofessional and totally unreliable. They disappear when things go wrong and take no responsibility at all. I strongly advise everyone to stay far away from this company – it's a nightmare. Avoid it like the plague!

Extremely Disappointed – Old and Broken Scooter

I rented a scooter from this company and was shocked by its terrible condition. The vehicle was extremely old, poorly maintained, and barely worked. It was unsafe and far from what was advertised. Customer service was unhelpful and did not offer a proper solution. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience – avoid at all costs

I rented a BMW 1100 motorbike in May 2025 through DoYouSpain, managed by Jota Café in Ibiza. I waited before leaving this review because I wanted to write it as clearly and fairly as possible.

The rental was set up with a remote pickup at the airport. I was sent a WhatsApp video with instructions on how to disable the alarm and start the bike. I followed them step by step, but the bike wouldn't start. I contacted Jota Café for help – and that’s where the nightmare began.

Instead of offering support, they arrogantly blamed me, saying I didn’t know how to start the bike and warned that if they had to send someone, it would cost me €150. I even sent them videos showing I followed the procedure correctly – still, the bike didn’t start.

After 40 minutes wasted, I lost my patience and told them I would cancel the booking. Only then did they tell me I’d lose the entire rental fee because, according to them, “the bike works”.

I ended up renting a scooter just to get to my hotel, with the promise that they would give me a replacement bike the next day.

The next morning, they tried everything to stop me from going to their shop – coming up with pathetic excuses to avoid a face-to-face conversation. I went anyway.

There, I found a young guy, around 20, who started the usual act: claiming the bike worked, and that if I didn’t take another one, they’d deduct the rental fee from my €500 deposit.
At that point, feeling completely scammed, I called the police.

That finally changed their attitude – the guy called his boss, and they agreed to come with me to the airport to test the bike. Once there, they had to admit it: the bike didn’t start. I had been right all along.

Tired and just wanting to move on, I accepted a replacement Brixton bike, with the condition that I would return it to their shop in person so they could inspect it with me, avoiding any excuses to keep the deposit.

After the rental, I returned the bike as agreed. But even a month later, the €500 deposit hadn’t been refunded. Only after I followed up did they finally return it.

Bottom line: rude, unhelpful, and completely unprofessional.
Stay away from Jota Café.

ATENTION, SCAMMERS!

ATENTION! SCAM! Don't rent with Jota Café! They don't return the deposit!!!

I booked through DoYouSpain.com and, when I arrived at the airport in Ibiza, Jota Cafe made me pay a €200 deposit in advance (the rental site didn't mention any of this). After I paid the deposit, they still refused to tell me where the key was, trying to force me to pay extra for the helmet box — even though I had booked a version without it.

After returning the scooter as instructed and sending photos (including the key left in the seat compartment), they kept inventing false reasons not to return my deposit — first claiming I didn’t leave the key, later saying a helmet was missing.

Over 20 messages later and a month later, I still haven’t received a refund for the deposit (legally they have to return in 10 business days). There are many other reviews online describing the same abusive behavior from this company. Please beware

Avoid use Doyouspain with bikes from Jotacafe.com. I arrived to Mallorca and after requested special service, paid for that and trying more than 30 phone calls I getted zero support. Than I requested one taxi to the hotel another one next day to the jotacafe motorcycles company. The company realised the mistake and haven't tried a real compensate compensation... Doyouspain doesn't answer yet to my contact.

Total Scam!!!

Total Scam – Stay Away!
We had a minor accident with an old, beat-up scooter (over 90,000 km on it!), and the rental company suddenly demanded €1,400 in “compensation” – for a vehicle that’s barely worth that much in total. It’s completely unreasonable.

They told us we were “insured,” but never explained what kind of insurance. Only after the accident did they claim it was just liability insurance – meaning no coverage for damage to the actual scooter.

We refused to pay the outrageous amount and even offered to call the police – but of course, they refused. Instead, they just kept our deposit, and now they’re saying we’ll also have to pay for damages to third parties, with more bills supposedly “on the way.”

Feels like a scam.
They’ve clearly scrubbed all the negative reviews on Google – but luckily, you’re seeing the real experience here.

SCAMMERS - AVOID

SCAMMERS - DO NOT RENT FROM JOTA CAFE

This company is crooked. I rented a scooter from the airport in Mallorca. They have no reception desk so collection is organised remotely via Whatsapp - while this didn't bother me too much it was very disorganised - but I get it, they were the cheapest option so they have to make their margin from somewhere... However, the real issue was trying to get my deposit back. I sent them message after message after message - they essentially blanked me for months - even when I informed them I was reporting it to the police. It was only when I got in contact with the third party website I made the booking through that my deposit was returned.

WARNING: POSSIBLE DEPOSIT RIP OFF

I rented a bike for 1 day at Jota Cafe Barcelona to do a ride along the coastal road of Barcelona together with my girlfriend. I went to pick up the bike at the agreed time and the first inconveniences already started arising. The bike I had chosen online was a Honda CB500F. On arrival I was told that the bike wasn't available and I would have to switch to a Brixton Crossfire 500. Granted, that was not what was agreed upon but I didn't see much of a problem in it. After waiting for roughly half an hour to get the phone mount mounted on the bike, I drove off to pick up my girlfriend. The bike had a very strange power deployment and looked and felt like it had not been serviced in ages but I cannot verify neither of the two. It might just be how these bikes handle as I have no reference of riding this brand before. Arrived at my girlfriends house, I noticed that the tires were COMPLETELY over the (legal) limit. Granted I should have made sure before driving off, but still this is unacceptable and a reckless ignoring of any kind of safety policy. I asked for a new bike and drove back. Upon arrival it took three bikes to find ONE that had tires that were in reasonable conditions. Anyway, I take the bike which by the way had a broken right mirror and a slight but noticeable misalignment of the handlebar and finally take off to start the trip. At the agreed time I return the bike with a full tank and the story seems to end there. A few inconveniences that culminated in a nice trip. "All good" I think. But then a few days after the 10 day deadline after which they claim to repay you your deposit, I still can't but notice that my 300€ deposit is nowhere to be seen. I ask them and they reply that they will check. The days keep passing and I go back to reading reviews online. And there I notice that although the google reviews are quite high the Trustpilot reviews are around 2 stars with many customers warning about Jota cafe not paying back the deposits. I therefore wirte them a message containing a deadline till which my deposit needs to be paid back. Warning them that if they refuse I will be forced to take legal action. To this message they did NOT respond. The deadline expired yesterday and I will as mentioned take legal action. Further more I will contact the authorities in charge, as this clearly seems to not be a one off event but a scheme by which they make their income.

As many other wrote before me, be warned. THEY DO NOT REPAY YOU YOUR DEPOSIT. THIS IS SEEMS TO BE A FRAUDULENT BUSINESS. And furthermore the service isn't even up to standard.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DISGRACEFUL PLACE!
