Unacceptably Poor Claim Handling

It has been close to couple of weeks since I had to file claim with this company and there is very little progress. The case is as simple of a blind folded slam dunk as it can be and the adjuster is behaving as if flushing a toilet is like a rocket science. I'm not asking them for a penny for property damage like damage to furniture, equipment, clothing etc. nor is there any bodily injury. Just want them to cover a basic water leak. Their communication is unacceptably poor and the claim handling is pathetic at the very best when I'm paying them 10k+ annually in premiums for last 15+ years. Just don't know if I can depend on them anymore and really worried about a more serious situation if and when that happens!

Re⚠️ Safety Compromised for Cost - 2025 GMC ADAS Windshield Claim view Title

Review Title: ⚠️ Safety Compromised for Cost - 2025 GMC ADAS Windshield Claim Rating: 1 Star

Review: Think very hard before purchasing insurance from this office. No one in Kelly Cannon's office provided any meaningful assistance with a claim that directly impacts the federally mandated safety system on my vehicle.

The Facts: I have been a State Farm customer for over 20 years with Auto and Homeowners insurance and zero prior claims. I own a new 2025 GMC Denali Ultimate equipped with the Advanced Drivers Assistance System (ADAS).

The Issue: State Farm used Safelite to replace my windshield with non-OEM (aftermarket) glass. This decision was made despite the vehicle manufacturer, GMC, issuing a Position Statement (Feb 2025) that clearly advises against aftermarket glass for ADAS-equipped vehicles due to safety risks.

When I raised this critical safety concern, I was told the use of non-OEM parts was allowed by policy. In short: State Farm chose to save a small amount of money rather than ensure my vehicle was restored to its pre-loss safety condition.

I was promised a follow-up call from the agent, Kelly Cannon, to address this safety risk, but I never received one.

If you drive a modern vehicle with safety sensors, be aware that this agency may not prioritize your safety over their bottom line. I have cancelled my policy and moved to USAA.

Disappointed by Constant Premium Increases

I’ve been with State Farm for a year, and I’m increasingly frustrated by how my car insurance premium keeps rising month after month, despite having a clean driving record and no claims. I originally chose State Farm for their reputation and competitive pricing, but lately, the increases feel arbitrary and unjustified.

I’ve reached out for explanations but have only received vague answers about market conditions. Loyalty and safe driving don’t seem to count for much anymore. I'm seriously considering switching providers unless something changes.

Useless Insurance

Had renter’s insurance for two years and the one time I needed it (water damage ruined my stuff), they gave me the runaround and denied my claim. Said it was some “maintenance issue” not covered. I’m out over $800 in damages. What was I even paying for all this time?? Total joke.

Badly paid for my car claim

I had a car accident that was deemed as total loss.
Not only did State Farm made me the runaround but in the end the settlement was for an amount that made me lose more than $6,000 in the purchase of a replacement car similar to what I had. With State Farm you lose big. Don't insure your car with them.

State Farm is a Joke- use another insurance company

My truck got stuck in some mud and needed to be towed. I called State Farm (my insurance company) and they tried to arrange for a tow truck. The tow truck company canceled multiple times and finally arrived 24 hours late. They then, through their incompetence damaged my classic (1979) pristine truck and decreased the value by 10’s of thousands of dollars. Filing the claim required 6 phone calls and use of their poorly designed app and they have still not settled the claim. This is the worse customer service experience I’ve had with an insurance company. Also, my local State Farm agent has been of no help. I will be filing a complaint with the state insurance commissioner. Their process is designed to frustrate the claimant so as to minimize their liability and they do that well.

State Farm Insurance is ´LIKE A NIGHTMARE NEIGHBOR`

State Farm Insurance is really ´LIKE A NIGHTMARE NEIGHBOR, WHO ABUSES YOUR TRUST IN THE WORST POSSIBLE WAYS!` This State Farm insured is also a retired professor of law and insurance, among other subjects, whose Sarafyan State Farm Agency in California made so many mistakes for so many years that its owner offered me compensation for those errors, blunders, and atrocious mishandling of my policies -- while both the agency and State Farm corporate level refused to even email my full policies to me! I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ANY COPY OF MY OWN FULL AUTO POLICY! Indeed, Allen Sarafyan, the owner of my State Farm agency, never responds to customer emails, and is rarely in the office!

Then, when I had a minor claim for items stolen from my stored vehicle, State Farm`s incompetent adjuster demanded an endlessly-increased level of so-called proof-of-loss which nobody would have, knowing such unreasonable demands would let the misguided firm disallow my claim -- but instead leading to my formal complaints to various Insurance Regulatory agencies. BEWARETHIS WORST OF NEIGHBORS: STATE FARM INSURANCE!

Unreliable insurance company. Really bad communication

I have a car company with a State Farm insurance . They are not renewing my insurance anymore without any clear explanation. They refer to a minor accident that I had 2 years ago but they did several renewals afterwards. 0 transparency and no customer orientation at all. I would never choose the company for my private car . Very bad experience

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH STATE FARM!

I purchased a whole life insurance policy from State Farm in April 1988. It included waiver of premium disability. I was declared disabled by the state of Utah. On Feb. 08, 2024 the Social Security Administration determined that I was disabled and became disabled on June 22, 2022. I tried to file a claim with State Farm. I provided them the documentation from the SSA. They just keep giving me the runaround. They say I have to have a Dr. fill out a medical evaluation form. They lied and said it was a regulatory requirement. They received proof of disability, yet continue to give me the runaround. I am now initiating litigation to hold them accountable. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH STATE FARM unless you want to be screwed over. They have also increased my auto rates approx. 50% since I became disabled!!! Used to pay less than $65.00 a month. Now paying $95.00. Approx. 50% increase in less than two years.

My 2020 Dodge Challenger was stolen in…

My 2020 Dodge Challenger was stolen in SF, CA. I went through the procedure of making the police report and call State Farm after to start a theft claim. State Farm helped out and got me started with a claim , ran through my policy, and got me a rental car. 2 days later, State Farm calls me up and says my claim has been transferred to a investigation specialist, Adrienne Roberts and discontinued paying for my rental car. Since being assigned this investigator Specialist, I’ve been treated like a criminal rather than a valued customer. This person asked me the same questions repeatedly implying that I was lying. She was insensitive about my hardship and caused me a tremendous amount of stress with multiple interviews, sending me a letter of a possible fraudulent claim. A third interview is to be scheduled where Adrienne Roberts said I will be under oath. Her manager is Bridgette Thomas who has allowed Adrienne Roberts to treat me like a customer without equal rights. My property in my vehicle was also stolen along with photos of my late parents and all I can think of is how State Farm with Adrienne Roberts and Bridgette Thomas is so focused of adding insult to injury by trying to dismiss my claim as fraudulent when EVERYTHING has been truthfully expressed from the beginning. Customers at State Farm are treated rudely and unfairly. This act of Adrienne Roberts is a perfect example of “Bad Faith” strategy and should be reported to a higher part of Insurance.

State farm has exploited

State farm has exploited, shared and integrated consumer and policyholder and employee data in many shady ways (foreign and domestic) and uses "Insurance Scores" with data that both lacks integrity but can be breached via shady systems integrations.

The "data security" narrative is both deceptive and lacks ethics. They also discriminate and use Agism and race and nepotism reigns.

HR is a sham as well as their "machine learning" and ServiceNow architecture.

LIKE A VERY BAD NEIGHBOR, STATE FARM IS THERE SHAFTING ITS TRUSTING CUSTOMERS!

A more-valid version of the well-known State Farm insurance slogan would be: LIKE A VERY BAD NEIGHBOR, STATE FARM IS THERE TO SHAFT ITS CUSTOMERS! Indeed, the local Allan Sarafyan State Farm agency in Van Nuys, CA manages to combine incompetence and negligence with fake explanations for its many errors on all of our policies -- bullet-point pseudo-explanations written with all the skill of a third-grader whose English abilities are profoundly lacking!

PERHAPS THEIR WORST ERROR IN OUR CASE HAS BEEN CONTINUING TO CHARGE US FOR A RENTER INSURANCE POLICY EVEN AFTER THE AGENCY WAS NOTIFIED THAT WE HAD MOVED AND NO LONGER LIVED AT THE POLICY LOCATION -- while then refusing to refund their ongoing invalid charges, or to prevent further such incorrect charges.

BUT THAT BLUNDER WAS ONLY THE TOP OF THE SARAFYAN STATE FARM AGENCY ICEBERG OF ERROR -- THE AGENCY ALSO FAILED TO REDUCE OUR AUTO INSURANCE AS WE HAD DEMANDED ONCE OUR CAR WAS PUT AWAY AND STORED, WHILE ALSO REFUSING TO JUSTIFY OR EXPLAIN ITS ENDLESS MONTHLY RATE INCREASES!

THE ONLY STORY WE GOT WAS THAT THEY HAD GOTTEN BEHIND ON MAKING POLICY UPDATES DUE TO BEING SO BUSY -- APPARENTLY,TOO BUSY TO BE COMPETENT OR CORRECT, OR TO HANDLE ROUTINE POLICY CHANGES EFFICIENTLY -- OR EVEN TO MAKE THOSE CHANGES AFTER PROMISING THEM!

NOR WILL STATE FARM CORPORATE LEVEL ASSIST, OR TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION -- BEWARE THESE INCOMPETENT PRICE GOUGERS, AS COMPLAINTS ARE BEING FILED WITH INSURANCE REGULATORY AUTHORITIES, NOT ONLY IN CALIFORNIA BUT IN EVERY OTHER STATE WHERE THEY GOUGE INNOCENT AND TRUSTING CLIENTS LIKE MYSELF AND MY WIFE, WITH THEIR ERRORS, BLUNDERS, AND ATROCIOUS RUDENESS. SHAME ON THE ALLAN SARAFYAN AGENCY, AND ON ITS STATE FARM PARENT FIRM -- THIS COMES FROM A RETIRED PROF OF INSURANCE AND LAW, WHO HAS BEEN GRATUITIOUSLY ABUSED BY STATE FARM AND BY ITS SARAFYAN AGENCY -- BOTH OF WHICH ARE, INDEED, VERY BAD NEIGHBORS!

A Disheartening Experience with Travelers and State Farm Insurance Companies

Dear Trust Pilot,

I am writing to share a deeply disappointing experience my father has had with Travelers and State Farm insurance companies following an accident caused by poor road conditions. In late August, while driving on Circle Blvd in Corvallis during road construction, my father's Nissan Quest van was severely damaged by a poorly marked cutout in the road. This incident has led to a series of frustrations with both insurance providers, Travelers and State Farm.

The city of Corvallis had contracted a company for road repair, and despite clear violations of safety procedures and responsibility on the contractor's part, Travelers quickly absolved them of any wrongdoing. Subsequently, my father, who had full comprehensive coverage, was advised by the construction company's insurance representative, Mike Thurman, to approach his own insurance provider, State Farm.

State Farm's handling of the situation has been nothing short of disheartening. They imposed several conditions on my father, such as obtaining a salvage title for the wrecked vehicle, before considering financial compensation. The process was further complicated by delays caused by a lien placed on the van by a State Farm claims adjuster, hindering my father's ability to seek a second opinion on the repairable condition of the vehicle.

Despite being a loyal customer of State Farm for many years and facing health challenges, including three heart attacks, my father has been led on a bureaucratic wild goose chase. The insurance company's demands for paperwork, multiple trips to the DMV, and promises of financial reimbursement have left my father in a state of uncertainty and financial strain.

To add to the frustration, State Farm initially agreed to settle for a seemingly low-ball offer of $4,130, promising payment on a specific date. However, this promise was not honored, and my father was informed that it could take an additional three weeks to a month before the compensation is fulfilled.

As a result of this ongoing ordeal, my father had to dip into his savings, amounting to $10,000, to purchase a comparable vehicle for his transportation needs. The lack of urgency and empathy from both Travelers and State Farm reflects poorly on their commitment to their customers' well-being and safety.

I am compelled to share this account to caution others about the inadequate business ethics and customer service exhibited by these insurance companies. It is my hope that others can learn from my father's unfortunate experience and avoid similar mistreatment.

In conclusion, my family and I express our sincere disappointment with the handling of this situation by Travelers and, particularly, State Farm. It is our belief that insurance companies should prioritize the well-being of their customers and act promptly and responsibly in times of need.

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,

William Walker Jr
