Fire doors are a critical part of fire protection in your home, or place of work. A fire door is a form of passive fire protection designed to prevent the spread of fire and keep you safe. A fire door isn't just the bit that opens and closes - a fire door consists of the frame, door leaf, firestopping between the frame and the wall and anything fixed to the door like hinges, letterboxes etc. It all needs to be fire rated in order for the whole door to be compliant. Fire doors will have a label on top specifying the level of fire protection provided (30mins, 60mins, 90mins etc). If there is no label your door may still be a fire door. We have just replaced the communal Fire Riser Doors in a block of flats in Guildford.
