It looks so authentic. At that size one needs a magnifying glass to read place names, but they’re there to be read in such an old fashioned way.
So many details I never even expected

The globe was of the size and detail we had hoped for but several areas of the mapping were wrinkled presumably due too much glue applied to the mapping film.

I'm sorry you're weren't happy with some of the aspects of your Franklin globe.
From your description it sounds like the traditional techniques in manufacturing these globes;
the method of laying the map onto the globe in strips is the traditional method of globe making that has been used for hundreds of years. This method also enables the most accurate and detailed cartography, occassional creases and score marks are evidence that the globe has been made in this way. It also allows for raised relief, allowing you to feel the mountains under your fingertips.
