I ended up buying a frankenwatch from Claudio

I ended up buying a frankenwatch from Claudio on Chrono24 (Just In Time Watches di Claudio Tassinari in Bologna, Italy), the watch being Rolex Explorer I with reference number 14270, production year 1992, with box and papers, already "Authenticated" by Chrono24 "verified" watchmaker who works closely with the seller; there was no option for additional verification for that extra EUR249 typically.

Upon receiving the item, I noticed the lume on the hands to be lighting significantly a lot in the dark indicating they have been replaced by modern (super)luminova - something that has not been listed by the seller. The seller however admitted the watchmaker missed this. Since then, I lost my trust in the authentication check so l proposed to have it checked by Rolex official service center. The seller first said if I were to do that it would revoke his 1-year warranty. He then went offline for a week due to a trip in China. I brought it to Bucherer in Berlin and Rolex watchmaker informed the movement inside did not correspond to the model, the caliber inside should have been 3000 but it was of a different caliber. I returned the watch and Chrono24 has initiated refund. Chrono 24 is useless when it comes to mediation and their "verified" watchmaker is also useless. Seller admitted his "verified" watchmaker did not notice the different caliber inside. In his 40 years of sellig watches this is the first time it happened. I have my doubt. Let’s wait and see if Chrono24 would publish my review on the seller. I also had to fork out on my own 150EUR on DHL express to return the watch. I followed people’s advice to buy the seller, in this case this seller has been selling watches on Chrono24 for many years, recommended by Chrono24 and has relatively good reviews, but even then you still cannot fully trust such a seller on Chrono24. Buy somewhere else, please.

Dear reviewer,
we take this type of statement very seriously, however your claims are inaccurate and misleading.
The watch in question was a vintage Rolex Explorer I ref. 14270, and all its characteristics were
clearly visible and transparently presented. In vintage watches, service parts such as hands or lume
can be replaced over time, which is standard practice and does not make a watch a “frankenwatch”.
Regarding the movement, we strongly contest your statement. All our watches are carefully
checked before sale, and any claim of a different caliber should be supported by official
documentation, which has not been provided.
We also never stated that an independent check would void any warranty. On the contrary, we are
always available to assist our clients in case of concerns.
Finally, the transaction was handled and refunded through Chrono24, which guarantees buyer
protection and confirms that the process was correctly managed.
For transparency, we invite readers to consider our long-standing history and the large number of
verified customer reviews on the platforms where our transactions actually take place, where we
have successfully completed hundreds of sales over many years.

Very rude, arrogant dealer with no care for customer service - or their reputation! Avoid!!

I have bought numerous high end watches from Chrono24 sellers. Yesterday, I bought (and paid IMMEDIATELY) - at full price without asking for any discount - a Rolex 16710 full set from Just In Time Watches di Claudio Tassinari, a dealer on Chrono24. As usual, I asked for a few pictures of the certificate and lug ends revealing the serial number and another identifier for my record. Other dealers happily provide these. This seller, however, brusquely replied clearly signalling his displeasure with my request and ended his message with "... If you are not satisfied I ask you to cancel the order because I have other interested customers". When I replied that I did not appreciate his aggressive tone, he cancelled the order. This is obviously an arrogant seller who has no idea (or interest in) what customer service is about. No doubt to him, the world would be great if not for customers. In today's increasingly competitive world where differentiation by products (e.g. watches which are commodities) is not sustainable, service is always key. I hope that the market show him to his peril the truth of this. PS: Just in Time Watches is accredited as a Chrono24 Trusted Seller - which proves that all it takes to qualify is to sell watches - with no consideration of service quality. I, of course, lodged a complaint with Chrono24 but it remains to be seen whether anything will come of it..

Dear reviewer,
we are sorry that you perceived our response in this way, however your request was not in line with
standard security practices in the watch industry.
For security reasons, we do not provide detailed images of serial numbers or full identifying codes
prior to a completed transaction. This is a common precaution adopted by professional dealers to
prevent misuse of such information for counterfeit or fraudulent purposes.
All essential information about the watch was already clearly presented, and we remain available to
provide any necessary support within reasonable and secure boundaries.
In this case, as no transaction was completed, no sale took place.
For transparency, we invite readers to consider our long-standing experience and the large number
of verified customer reviews on the platforms where our transactions actually take place.
