An ongoing battle wages. . .
I have had an ongoing battle with Jysk for over 2 Months now, but I dont think they can do anything to change the outcome of this review, the damage is done I am afraid.
We were looking for some storage units for our home and found the perfect item in Jysk. We looked at the stock levels online, which advised that there were sufficient in our local store, but that we couldnt preorder them and would just need to visit, so we went the following morning first thing for it opening (which is a 50-mile round trip). On arrival at the store we were told that they only had one in stock and that it was a display model, and were asked if we would like to pruchase this one then order the others into store for collection at a later time.
I checked on my phone at the time and realised we could get them home delivered for a small fee, and we opted to do this as we could get them sooner and it saved a return journey.
Initially, 2x arrived, but the third unit never made it.
After a conversation with customer service, it transpired that the delivery firm DPD had returned the third unit themselves as it was in that much of a bad state.
Long story short, we have had 5x replacement units sent out to us now, all of which have been severely damaged in transit, 3 of which the boxes were completely torn open and the components loose in the back of the delivery van / with chunks out of them etc. one was delievred twice by two separate delivery guys over the course of 2 days.
So its a bit of a shit-show really, Jysk seriously need to improve the packaging of their products to allow them to be bashed about a bit without them coming open and spillign their contents, and to ensure they dont get damaged, and also, maybe they need to think about using an alternative courier!
As it stands, the latest attempt to get the replacement third unit to us, it is sat with the courier and has been for a number of weeks now, a generic status on the tracking says there is a delay, and Jysk seem unable to work out what is going on. . .
All I know is that they have my money, I have 2/3 required units built and in situ, meaning that I NEED the third to complete my project / room and am not in a position where I can ask for a refund and get an alternative product elsewhere and find myself in limbo really. . .
Honestly, I have never had such a bad experience, and I would highly recommend avoiding them at all costs!
I have ordered 2 sofas
I have ordered 2 sofas, asking to deliver to Swandlincote store. Two days later got a message saying the delivery might take up to 20 working days. What a joke. You get a delivery from China within 2 weeks.
Thank you for the incredibly fast and…
Jysk customer service ❤️Thank you for the incredibly fast and nice contact, I am very satisfied with the service.
My advice: AVOID
I visited the JYSK store in Derby recently and was really disappointed with the level of customer service. One of the male staff members was extremely rude when I asked for help finding an item. Instead of offering assistance, they spoke to me in a dismissive and unhelpful tone, making me feel like I was an inconvenience for even asking.
I’ve always liked JYSK’s products, but this experience has really put me off returning to the store. Basic courtesy and respect go a long way, and unfortunately that was completely lacking during my visit.
I hope management looks into this and provides proper training for staff on how to treat customers with professionalism and kindness.
I went to buy two wardrobes today
I went to buy two wardrobes today. Picked them out went to pay. That was fine. Girl at the counter she the wardrobes would be brought out for us. There was only one of them in stock. That was fine. The wardrobe was left at the shop door entrance. For me and my sister to bring out to our car. The wardrobe comes in 3 large boxes. Just left at the door for us to struggle. We couldn't manage the weight of them. A kind customer offered to wheel them out for us. The staff didn't even acknowledge that we might need help. Didn't offer us any help. Didn't say to be careful that the boxes where so heavy. I spent a lot of money in their store. And I will never return. Thay are a disgrace. If I could give less of a one star rating I happily would. No health and safety taken into consideration at all. No customer service. Absolutely disgraceful.
I like Jysk
I like Jysk, furnished my flat in Granada with there stuff, issue I have is staffing levels are poor in bury, Saturday afternoon was 1 chap trying to serve , find orders for customer pick ups, many people in store, is unfair on staff, and is a bad look on your brand.
Poor quality
Worst quality ever! Order table and come in damage.. Call them and they replace table with another one which came in damaged again.. Not sure if they can make anything right... Not recommending!!! Waist my time taking day of work twice...
Avoid
Avoid. Buy something in stock > wait more than two months for delivery
Okay then
Absolutely appalling customer service
Absolutely appalling customer service. Purchased 4 dining chairs at beginning of August. Had to chase up status as no delivery updates. Collected chairs at the end of August. 2 chairs went together perfectly, but the other 2 were not made correctly. Contacted customer service on 1st September, and had to provide video evidence of me trying to assemble the faulty ones. Customer service agreed to reorder another 2 chairs for me. Fast forward to end of September and no contact again. I called customer service back on 29th September to enquire, and was told that the order hadn’t gone through and they would have to reorder again. Phoned customer service yet again (no updates) on 14th October, and have now been told that the items won’t be in stock until February 2026. There were however 2 chairs in a store 25 miles away. I asked that these be delivered for me only to be told that they don’t arrange delivery from a different store. I am unable to travel to collect, so I have asked for a refund. Customer service have said that they don’t good chairs must be dismantled and returned in their original packaging to qualify for a refund!! I have been using the 2 good chairs since the end of August and no longer have the packaging. So I am now left with an incomplete set of dining chairs, £140 out of pocket, and no way of claiming a refund. Absolute joke of a company. Zero stars
Purchased a bed and mattress
Purchased a bed and mattress. Took 3 weeks , went to collect it , total farce .first they brought the wrong one out after waiting then they found it but wouldn't give me because I'd forgot my wallet with receipt. I'd got two emails and 3 messages informing me med item was at store . Despite this and the fact I showed them my bank statement proving I had paid for it they still wouldn't give me . I told them to keep it and give me my money back lol without a receipt or I'd they refunded me . total joke they can't give you the item without a receipt but they refunded me without any I'd or receipt
Don't bye a bed unless you want to wait ages they employ idiots
Poor quality, even poorer customer service
I ordered 4 chairs for our dining room, unfortunately 1 of them is faulty so cannot be used. I ordered these online for collect in store, however customer service is stating that I have to go into store to get a replacement as they dont have access to the order. This is more than a 2 hour round trip for us, which with a baby is just not really possible. If you ask for a manager dont expect any contact, as I'm told it can be up to a week! Absolutely embarrassing, having worked in customer service for many years I know this isnt a hard fix. A 7 year old would be able to arrange a courier, which given they have sold a faulty item is the very least that can be done.
Avoid at all costs.
I popped into the Derby JYSK store…
I popped into the Derby JYSK store yesterday, and I have to say I was really disappointed. The shop looked extremely messy — items left all over the place, hard to find any prices, random stuff in aisles and generally very disorganised. It didn’t give a good impression at all.
To make matters worse, one of the male staff members (older one of the two) I approached for help was quite rude and dismissive. I only asked a simple question about stock availability, but he acted as if I was bothering him. There was no friendliness or willingness to help, which really put me off.
I’ve shopped in other JYSK stores before and always found them clean and pleasant with helpful staff, but the Derby branch really needs some attention — both in terms of tidiness and customer service. I certainly won’t be rushing back any time soon.
Six Weeks of Failed Promises and Management Chaos
I purchased a sofa bed on September 8th, 2025, with an original delivery date set for September 18th. What followed has been a six-week masterclass in customer disrespect, logistical failure, and catastrophic internal communication.
A Timeline of Incompetence
Initial Failure (September 18th): The delivery failed without any prior notification. Upon inquiry, I learned the item was in the store but incomplete due to a missing part. My order was postponed for another week, with the token compensation of "free home delivery."
Multiple Delays (Late September): The postponed delivery was then delayed a couple of times more over the next two weeks due to ongoing logistical issues.
Logistics Breakdown (October 1st onwards): A message finally confirmed the item's arrival on October 1st. However, the promised home delivery was subsequently postponed two more times. The excuses provided were frankly staggering and pointed directly to a systemic management failure:
Once, the delivery driver was cited as "too busy."
Another time, the Assistant Manager responsible for arranging the delivery was "off due to grievances." This internal workplace issue should never be used as a reason to break a customer promise.
The Final Insult (October 10th): I was finally promised the delivery for this morning (Friday, October 10th). Yet, when I came to the store today to ensure the delivery would finally happen, the staff attempted to dismiss me, stating they would call me when the driver was free to arrange a new date. This broke the promise while I was literally standing in the store.
Management Failure, Not Staff Error
The staff on the floor have done their best under impossible circumstances. However, this entire situation is the result of incompetent logistics and management who clearly prioritize their internal issues over customer fulfillment. JYSK took my contact details three separate times with the promise of arranging follow-up, and they never once initiated contact.
I have wasted an unacceptable amount of personal time waiting and chasing an order purchased a month ago. My experience is not just a simple delivery delay; it is evidence of a fundamentally broken system. I strongly advise potential customers to look elsewhere if they value their time and expect even basic communication.
Horrendous customer service
The products themselves are satisfactory and fit for purpose. However, the overall customer experience itself leaves a lot to be desired. I have a missing piece for one of my purchases, so I emailed for customer support and was told they ordered the correct piece to my address and it would take 2-5 working days. After 6 working days, I emailed to query for an update, to which I was told they are unsure what happened the first time and would order the piece to my address again. A few days later, the piece came from the first ‘lost’ order. I was charged £17.49 as an import charge, which was a surprise to me as JYSK did not mention this at all.
I queried with JYSK, to which they said they would cover the cost and reimburse me when I provide confirmation of an email from UPS saying I had paid the charge. This email does not exist, as I did not order the spare piece for myself, JYSK ordered it.
The whole experience has been frustrating, and having seen many reviews saying pieces were missing I still gave the benefit of the doubt and tried the company. It simply just isn’t worth the risk of anything being missing, as if it is the whole process is farcical.
Beware 3 day return policy, NOT unlimited!
Beware - only 3 days to return some items, which they don't tell customers about until they try to return product. It is NOT unlimited returns as they claim! In my case, this was an unused travel pillow, in original packaging, but nowhere is it stated that you only have 3 days to return it! In fact, the online listing states unlimited returns but they wouldn't refund it.
If I could give them no stars I would
If I could give them no stars I would. I bought 5 shoe cabinets, didn’t hear anything for weeks about a delivery, I then chased this up, waited more time for a reply to find out my items were lost. They then sent replacements that arrived broken, I have tried to contact customer services for over a week now and have heard nothing back. I’m left with useless items that I spent £400 on and have no way of sorting it.
I went into the shop on Wednesday
I went into the shop on Wednesday. The downstairs is so cramped it is hard to look at any of the furniture. And they have baskets without prices for cushions, only saw one youngish man on the tills downstairs but he was busy went upstairs to have a look and it makes downstairs look spacious, thankful I didn’t have my dad in his wheelchair with me because he would have had to stay near the lift in the only available space. Not accessible what so ever. Walking around upstairs I saw 3 members of the staff. I approached another gentleman who at first I thought had not heard me, but as I got closer I realised that he just was not wanting to help at all, went back to the two other staff members, they helped so at least someone did. As I went downstairs it was the same youngish man on the checkout, I’d decided against buying because I felt like they didn’t want me to. Plus upstairs was hard to tell prices, even commented with another person in there that it was hard to tell and she said I have been coming in for years and I think it must be going out of business. Not a good experience from your derby shop
Poorly Customer service
Poorly Customer service, no responsibility at all. Damaged Item, delivery partner is very poor management. Refund process is impossible process.
Always get a paper receipt better still shop elsewhere
Called into JYSK to purchase a quilt cover as the old one had torn. As a pensioner I don't have much spare money saw one within my budget at £21.50 which I bought, the zip broke on it's first use, I took it back I didn't get a receipt because the transaction was on my phone. They would only give me a credit note because of it they wanted a paper receipt the other quilts were way above my budget. Disgusting practise.
Just an awful all round experience with…
Just an awful all round experience with this company, went in on 16.9 early in the morning (good job as there was signs up saying they were closing early, but that is not the problem). As I am walking around looking at the bits they have, it was just messy. Dirty floors, dust everywhere, it felt more like a charity shop then this ‘high end’ business they project online, I was shocked. To make matters even better, the two staff members that I saw were rude, and just unhelpful. An older worker with short hair walked past me, I tried to ask for help, he looked straight at me and carried on walking, it was shocking, tried to ask another worker for help, none given, just blanked again, all I wanted to know was the price of something as I could not find it, ended up looking in the website.
When I went upstairs to look at bathroom stuff, I gave up, because the bath mats looked like they had been just thrown onto a shelf and more rubbish all over the floor and just messy. It felt dirty.
Safe to say I will NOT be visiting the shop in derby again, or any other one of their shops for that matter. Never again. Appalling
