I self-published on KDP back in 2012. I published 7 books, 4 were humor focused poems and comics. Around 2018ish I gave up on writing for awhile and kind of forgot about the site. Then at 1 AM C... See more

I need all the people who were treating…
I need all the people who were treating like me to email me, Trump is in the Whitehouse, and it is time to bring down KDP. They close my account for no reason and I ended up losing the royalties and paying the card fee, I don't even think Jeff knows what they are doing.
Incompetent KDP Customer Service!
I am utterly exasperated with the abysmal level of customer service I've received regarding my ebook publication on Amazon. My book, available in both paperback and ebook formats, was recently updated to correct a few minor spelling errors. While the paperback version was swiftly approved within four days, the ebook has languished in a state of limbo for six weeks. Incredibly, it has only been approved for sale in Italy, while all other marketplaces remain inaccessible.
Despite my diligent efforts to resolve this issue, including over 25 emails and 15 phone calls, I am no closer to understanding the root cause of the delay, nor have I received any indication of when I can expect a resolution. Amazon has consistently failed to meet every Service Level Agreement provided, demonstrating a shocking degree of incompetence. The lack of communication and the sheer inefficiency of their process are truly staggering.
I'd say AVOID at all cost, but then they have monopoly on market! This monopoly is something the regulators need to look at it! I have written to my local MP and I suggest everyone else do same the same!
Amazon simply does not give a S*** about small independent authors! Utterly disgusting customer service!
Example an email just received 6 weeks after first complaint, utterly useless:
"Hello,
While they’re unable to respond to you personally, my managers have been made aware of this situation.
I wanted to let you know that we're still reviewing the information you provided for the following book(s):
Title of Book: xxxxxx
N A (AUTHOR) (ID: xxxxxxx)
It's taking longer than usual to resolve this and I'm very sorry about the delay.
We'll contact you with more information as soon as possible.
Thanks for your continued patience.
Amazon KDP"
No help
They accepted the print. We even got a proof copy and yet they sent us.The wrong coloring
No help with getting the refund for the books I ordered
No help.50 books order and there all different shades.
Amazon KDP Stole My Royalties – Authors Beware!
I am incredibly disappointed with Amazon KDP and their unethical treatment of authors. After dedicating countless hours and money to researching, writing, and publishing my books, Amazon suddenly terminated my account without warning or a valid explanation, leaving me without access to my earned royalties.
Despite multiple attempts to contact customer support, I received generic, automated responses that provided no resolution or a clear reason for their actions. Amazon keeps the royalties from hard-working authors, offering no appeal process or transparency in their decisions. And, of course, right after the Christmas holiday seems highly convenient.
KDP’s treatment of independent authors is nothing short of exploitative and unfair. They profit off our work, then shut down accounts without cause, keeping the money we've rightfully earned. If you’re an author considering publishing with Amazon, think twice—you could wake up one day and find your account gone, your income stolen, and no recourse available.
Amazon KDP is not a reliable platform for serious authors. I strongly advise looking into ethical alternatives that respect and compensate authors fairly for their work.
Withheld Royalties Possible Fraud
I recently discovered that KDP have withheld my royalties for several months. I received no notification from them about this. I phoned them and was advised that I need to complete verification compliance for my bank. I uploaded my bank statement but just received the same message again. I then tried phoning but just get told to submit the information again which doesn't make any sense. I uploaded proof of my tax assessment. Nothing. I email but don't get a response from the email address that has requested the verification. I asked my bank if they can provide the proof and read the request to them and they told me it was a scam. I unpublished all my book titles. Not happy about submitting my personal data through a portal and getting nothing back. I'm concerned sections of Amazon's website/call centre have been hijacked and this is in fact fraud.
It was straight forward until I had to…
It was straight forward until I had to provide tax number I thought I needed a tin number but that's for us citizens then I left it for a
month .I came back and saw I that UK residents use a UTR number
I found a ten digit number on one of my forms and kdp accepted it so i managed to get the book accepted I stuck another one on and it was going great ,faster than I thought it would be no obstacles until one big pain in the ass it asked me if I want to use my own image for the cover then it said it was too big ,I used umpteen aps some more than once It kept saying pixels are wrong size , but it had accepted the image before and now it was rejecting it .it wasn't until i went for kdp's own images that I saw another option to add my own picture ,that must have been the one I used before which I had forgot about as why would there be two things that do the the same thing , it worked again unlike it's decoy counterpart which never works ,I also had problems with this last year with my first book. The reason I had to reupload the image is because I pressed archive and it wiped my book completely so I had to upload the book again also
AMAZON KDP beware of their deceptive…
AMAZON KDP beware of their deceptive practices. I had an account for two years, spent quite alot of money and time on their ads and never came out ahead. I do not know why i wasted my time. I worked hard publishing over 50 books. My account was terminated over one book and i could not get a straight answer as to why. Amazon kept my royalties, refused to respond to my inquires and continued to try to charge my card for ads after my account was terminated. I think they need to be investigated for fraud. I would never do business with them again in any form. Jeannette Azar
If you want your money stolen this is the company for you!
I paid 149 at the beginning and decided it’s better to not go through with this company. I called for a refund and everything seemed okay and I was told I’d get a call back about going through with the refund. I got no call back so I tried calling all the numbers I was given for them and all of them have been disconnected. I’m currently trying to get my money back from the bank through disputing the transaction.
English is not their first language
English is not their first language, so don't expect much more than a scam.
Would you give your business to a publisher who's English language is so poor they can't even get a simple sentence right -
Read their page intro image! = "Publish Your Book With Us In Just $199".
I think they are sitting in a call center in Delhi India somewhere, LMAO......
Absolutely Horrendous Experience
My experience with Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) was a nightmare. I published three books through their platform. On December 2, they terminated my account, overpriced my books, and continued selling them worldwide without my consent. In four months, I received only £6.45 in royalties. My books are still available for sale, but only for their profit. I attempted to recover my books by submitting takedown requests to Amazon's copyright service and contacting their managers, but unfortunately, nothing changed.
If you're considering starting a writing career, consider finding an alternative and avoiding Amazon Kindle in all its forms.
Lies, lies and no supervisory body
They removed my books and cancelled my account, stating that I "tried to manipulate" the sales. I asked them why is that and what did I do. They said, they uphold their decision. I asked 7 times, always got the same template message. No real answer. I asked for their supervisory body's details. Also no answer.
I've also been banned for life (!) to open a new account. Without any reason. No answer, no reason, nothing. Just someone banned and I can't do anything. It seems like they are above the law.
Absolute scam and terrible customer…
Absolute scam and terrible customer service. I don't know why it's so hard for amazon to have book customer service when they do billions of packages just fine but can't figure out how to help authors? literally have wasted over 2 hours for 5 different people not able to tell me why the book is printing differently than preview by wide margin and colors are terrible. This appears to be a big scam with the 30% payout to authors and high print costs. A $9.99 you make .87 cents and amazon makes $9. BS the govt needds to step in and protect consumers from this predatory company raking in billions and soon trillions off the public.
Terrible experience
A few years ago I self published a book using kdp services. I subsequently unpublished it because I received an offer from a publisher. I had started an AD campaign and they kept asking me for money even if my book was no more on sale. I had to cancel the account.
Last November I opened a new account to publish, first a paperback version of a new book. Then I tried to add the digital version. they blocked my book with the following reason: "We have terminated your KDP account because you have multiple accounts, which is a violation of our Terms and Conditions. Also, this account is related to an account that was terminated due to violations of our Content Guidelines". I had terminated the previous account following THEIR instructions... I felt insulted and I will never buy a book from Kindle anymore... I have lost all my trust in the company!
Do Not Trust Kdp
absolutley the worst company for publishers the royalities for print books are extremly low and if you do start getting sales they terminate your account for no reason and will not tell you why, they have gotten to big and dont care about Authors at all over 100 accounts have been terminated in november alone. It needs to be investgated no phone or chat support in 2024 billion dollar company ?Even accounts terminated that have done nothing wrong are not given any chance to explain. We need to stand up and not use kdp, All authors need to leave and move to a more transaprent publisher. other publishers pay out a lot quicker show you traffic stats and even name and emails fo your customer KDP shows us nothing we have to take thier word for it I for one dont trust them at all.

I paid over 809 for a book release with other publishings; ie blogs and other marketing but have received nothing but demands for more money. Alvis Dean has given others my info who has also contacted me for more money despite receiving nothing. I want my money back
This company is a scam
This company is a scam! I can sum it up!!!! This company will tell you that you violated policy but they will not tell you what policies then they tell you that I'm dead when I give you your love because I just something that they've earned for all your hard work and using customer for them to benefit and profit! And we published our book even if you decide that you want to close our account you should not have the right to keep our royalties for all of the hard work that we put in! Not give us an actual answer to our questions treat us with so much disrespect and stayed at your answer is final from all of the hard work that we put in I don't understand how this is legal! They need to be out of business and then when you call Amazon Amazon can't give you an answer there's no actual person to speak to verbally to address the issue and they have you going around in circles stating that they're not really affiliated with them there's no actual number to contact them?! Excuse me you have billions and billions of dollars and their individuals placing their items on your site placing their books on your site trusting you that this company would be honest and this company is a scam they are a fraud and it should be illegal to sit here and scam people out of there hard-earned money that they actually deserve and they earned all of the hard work they put in the dedication that they put into their book! This company is a scam I would not advise anyone to place their books on the site because at the moment you think you're doing well they will rip the carpet from under you without any explanation of why they can commit fraud because this is what this is taking money of all the hard work that you've done then tell you that you don't deserve an explanation for it! They can conquer any lie they want to tell you that they're canceling your subscription or your account without giving you an accurate answer just to steal your money! Please be aware publish your own books do not use this company I don't even order anything from them anymore because if you're going to steal my books I don't even want to give you my money for ordering anything on your site! Report them to the Federal trade commission in the better Business bureau because if there's enough complaints on them then maybe someone will start investigating
KDP are Author Predators.
Amazon KDP are one of the shadiest, least transparent publishing platforms you’re ever gonna find. They wasted 3 years of my creativity, financial investments & hardwork. My books were doing well in the market & getting nice ratings & just when I was about to get my biggest royalty yet, KDP terminated my account on grounds that I was “manipulating their services”. I appealed this decision & asked them to review it but nothing was done. (They gave me the same bot response. Same glitched bots that they employed over humans to randomly block accounts for no logical or understandable reasons). I’m currently going through depression & financial hardship right now because KDP literally took all my handwork/money away in a whim. Over $2000 in royalties gone with no warnings, no emails. This cannot be right! This cannot be legal in a sane world. I have a lot of resentment in me towards Amazon & whoever runs this platform. Please do not put your time and effort into this evil platform because they’re just laying in wait to ruin your life & rob you of your hardwork one day. They do not care about their authors. I’m currently working on a legal action. If BBB.Org can’t help me then I’ll take this to court.
Amazon KDP is a SCAM
I'm appalled by my experience with Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), which I can only describe as a blatant scam. After putting in countless hours crafting my book, I was met with excuses that my royalties were withheld due to “misleading content.” This nonsensical justification feels like a smoke screen for their shady practices, with KDP operating more like a pyramid scheme than a legitimate publishing platform. It's outrageous that they can manipulate authors and steal our hard-earned royalties under the guise of content guidelines. I urge fellow authors to beware of KDP—it’s a predatory system designed to profit off the backs of unsuspecting creators while giving nothing in return!
Lost royalties
Lost royalties, Account deletion, no way to contact,
I was trying to order author copies, I was told to delete a duplicate account, this i did, it was associated to KDP, i had no idea that was the case.
I have spent a week now trying to get hold of KDP to sort the issue.
There is links and buttons all that link back to themselves, i have spoken with customer services at Amazon in America, Canada and the uk, none of which do anything other than send a link back to the same place that doesn't work, it doesn't matter who you talk to they can not do anything.
My book is a Christmas book and i have spent a lot of money on marketing.
I have tried to complain to amazon, they just repeat the process of sending the same link as before.
an extremely rubbish experience with them and it seems they are keeping my royalties as well.
Going on here is my last attempt to get attention from them, after this, i guess it has to be a legal approach.
I strongly suggest being careful and think about whether or not KDP is the correct choice, i am now looking into alternatives.
Amazon terminated my account without…
Amazon terminated my account without any explanation. I literally did nothing wrong that I can see. My books were all approved and then I logged in the next day to find a message stating my account is "Terminated Permanently".
A message to Amazon KDP, you should be on the AUTHORS SIDE. If something was done wrong you should explain it to the author so they have the chance to remedy the situation.
VERY BAD Customer and Author Experience, someone needs to do something about this.
