Looking at 39 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the product quality, citing frequent and severe mechanical issues, especially with engines failing prematurely. Recalls do not get fixed at KIA

They opened up a case file (after 2 diconnections). Even though there is a recall, their dealer is refusing to do it, and a week later, I can't get thru to Kia and have invested hours on their phone queue. If my airbags do not work now, who's fault is it? KIA rep or the dealer? Shameful customer service at all levels.

I own a 2019 Kia Sedona

I own a 2019 Kia Sedona. There are so many thefts due to Kia making short cuts allowing the vehicles an easy target. I contacted Kia customer service requesting a club lock and was told Kia donated the club lock to certain police departments. This does not help people who do not live near any of these certain police departments. I asked for a reimbursement if I had to buy my own lock and was told NO. KIA WILL NOT REIMBURSE YOU. I AM ON MY OWN! Kia needs to step up and do the right thing. MAKE A GOOD FAITH EFFORT. BAD PUBLIC RELATIONS! Insurance companies are now increasing the rates or not even insuring these vehicles. SHAME ON YOU KIA. AT LEAST REIMBURSE ME FOR HAVING TO BUY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT DUE TO YOUR COST CUTTING!

Very disappointed long-time Kia owner, walking away from the brand.

We have been Kia owners for the past 20 years, and for the most part, we have been satisfied until now. Our 2015 Sedona SX had a check engine light come on at the end of last year and the only remedy suggested by the Dealer Kia of Dartmouth, was to replace the engine an 8-9k dollar job and the car is worth about that much. The car has about 95k miles on it but the dealer would not honor the 100k warranty and provided no recourse for us. There was no offer to help with getting a replacement or any type of fix. We could not get an inspection sticker (Massachusetts) because the engine light was on but the car was running fine. Kia missed a buying opportunity and lost a loyal customer. They just don't care and their cars do not last.

Car buying experience from Hell

Stay as far away from this place as possible. I was just thinking about buying a car they had. But after reading online and watching videos of the car. I was not certain about buying the car. But I was Harassed by phone and pressured into going through with it. Even after telling the salesperson, I changed my mind she just kept on till I done it. Very pissed off and unhappy customer. So, if they have screwed me over, I'll probably never have another car. Because if the car tears up, I'm letting them have it and they can sell it to someone else and I'll probably just have to buy a bicycle. The sale's lady just kept calling my mom's phone harassing me about the car. If the car tear's up I won't finish paying for it either. If they have ripped me off nobody wins cause I will not keep the car I will return it to them and I'll take the title out of my name. I shouldn't have been harassed over and over into buying a car I don't want. When I told the sales lady I changed my mind that should have been the end of it. Very unprofessional and pushy sales people. I'm not happy at all. When they screw you over, they lie and blame you. I talked to them about canceling my purchase because I did not want the car. And the local kia store is lying their asses off on me. Twisting everything around and blaming me for every bit of it. These people are the worst people to deal with buying car. The car brand I'm talking about is known to have transmission problems. I don't have 4 thousand dollars if the thing goes out but Kia doesn't care they pressured me into buying the car and wouldn't let me out of the deal. Worst car dealership experience ever. They don't even care that it puts my life in danger forcing me to buy a car that the transmission might stop. It was also stupid of the bank to even approve the loan for the car. Because if I refuse to pay for it, they can't do a damn thing to me they just lose their money because of my situation they can't do anything to me. They lie a lot more than other dealerships worst car lot ever. They should be put out of business. You can't trust them and their stupid, but they think the customer is dumb. I tried getting of the contract, but the manager is an a hole, and he wouldn't let me out of it. I'm not keeping the car so many people want to lie and say it wasn't forced on me that's total bs. Don't ever do business with Kia. Since they don't want to let me keep car I will be talking with an attorney because my mom's name is also on the car title, and she didn't sign anything so they shouldn't be allowed to have my car I should be allowed to keep it. Their mad because I have told them how I feel about the whole thing oh well they don't care how their doing me. I'm not the one in the wrong and I'm not the one lying.

Stay away from Kia

Oh where to begin? My issues with Kia began in February 2022. I had this issue where my blind spot collision assist warning would come on the dash, then the car lunges, followed by a clunking noise. When this happens the 2020 kia Sorento LX I have could barely get up to 60mph and ran around 4k Rpm. I have brought it in to the local dealerships 4 times. Nobody know how to diagnose it or they want to replicate the issue. Even though I have proof of the issues through video and photos from code reader. Today marks the 4th visit about the same issue, well the tech comes back an goes oh hey there’s a TCM code, an I’m like geee isn’t that a transmission control module, he just stared at me so I have honestly lost confidence in Kia. I will never buy a Kia again.

Smoking drivers seat and Kia won't address issues

On December 13, while on my way to work, I noticed a strong burning smell inside my car (a 2021 Kia Telluride, which I have been leasing for less than 2 years). A few moments later, I realized there was a visible amount of smoke coming out from underneath my driver’s seat. I immediately pulled over and shut the car off, but the smoking inside the car continued for about 30 more minutes, and did not stop until my roadside assistance driver disconnected the car battery. My car was then towed to the dealership (Gateway Kia in North Brunswick, NJ). I went there to retrieve a few items from it 4 days later, on December 17th. As soon as I opened the door, the smoke smell was overwhelming. It had clearly permeated the entire interior of the car, as well as the few items that I removed. Upon inspection by the engineering team, Kia America determined that the problem was isolated to the seat and only the seat would have to be replaced. I have tried to make the point to the dealership service rep, as well as my consumer affairs rep at Kia that while the problem originated in the seat, the whole car was affected. I have reached out to them nearly every day and have gotten nowhere with this matter. They continue to insist on replacing solely the driver's seat. This was a major mechanical failure on a leased car that is covered under a warranty, and I am requesting that Kia provide me with a replacement of the car. I have 2 young children and I am concerned about the health implications that may be caused by exposure to possibly toxic elements from smoke, embedded in the entire interior of the car. Meanwhile it has been over 5 weeks since that I’ve been without my car, and this does not seem to be resolving any time soon. I have since filed a claim with the Auto Line through the BBB, and my status is pending.

I have a 2017 2.4 L engine. I'm so worried this will fail do to national lawsuit. So why should I buy another Kia? KIA is an expensive as a Toyota or Honda. So why not just buy a Honda or Toyota and be able to trust my engine will break down or catch fire. I believe to get the public trust, Kia should offer extended warranty's for free! At this point,I don't trust my vehicle.

I have taken my 2015 KIA Forte to the dealership numerous times due to engine failure. I Never will repurchase a KIA.

My 2017 Optima Hybrid had issues that the dealership said they may be able to fix the car for $4665, however they are not sure. Now my battery is dead and I have no way to get into the trunk to jump the vehicle. This car is a piece of work. The car has been sitting for months and I have payments on it. I would never buy a Kia again.

If I could leave 0 stars for Kia I would! This is by far the worst car I have ever owned in my life. My car has been broken into twice this year. I then got it fixed and less than 7 hours after it was fixed, someone stole it. The anger and frustration I have for such a poor design is indescribable. I would not recommend them to anyone.

DO NOT BUY A KIA

DO NOT BUY A KIA! This is especially true if you live in or near Massachusetts. I recently bought a new 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid because of many things, including all the remote features advertised via the Kia Connect app. I am a NH resident, and due to all the price gouging (markup above MSRP) that dealerships are doing, I had to broaden my search. I ended up buying the car from a MA dealership since they were selling at MSRP. I have no problem with the dealership. This review is about Kia itself. I later found out (after the sale) that because the car was bought in Massachusetts, I am not allowed to use Kia Connect or any of its features. This is all because of some MA law that AFFECTS MA RESIDENTS. Being a NH resident, the law doesn't apply to me. However, Kia has decided that they don't care, and because the car came from MA they will not enable those features, no matter where you live. I tried to reason with them, and to do whatever they wanted to prove I live in NH and the car is registered in and would even be serviced in NH. But they were unreasonable. They can't think outside their script. Now if I had been the opposite, and was a MA resident and bought a car in NH, they I can use Kia Connect no problem. This is a stupid and backwards rule they have imposed.

With the reputation lately with recalls going downhill, and now even their support and services are nose diving, I wouldn't recommend a Kia to anyone. Since Hyundai is all part of the same company, I would stay away from them as well. At least not if you want all the features the car is advertised as having. If they can turn the feature off for all the cars bought in a state, they can do that at anytime to any state. If you are someone who needs or wants a car with remote capable features, look to another brand. Especially with all the online buying you can do... you never know if the car you are buying came from Massachusetts and those features can never be enabled.

Kia is unable to assist customers in a timely manner

I have a Kia forte 2017 under 52000 miles I have had two separate times when my care was having trouble. The first time my care wouldnt run at all I called and they where booked out 1 month before they could even look at my car. I called all three options for Kia dealerships even the one 45 minutes away. I had to go somewhere else to have my car fixed. Now my heater and defrost are not working and winter is here so I am unable to drive it safely. Again they are not even able to look at it for 3-4 weeks. This does not say much for Kia vehicles if they are so busy with repairs that they are unable to get cars in for 3-4 weeks that tells me Kia cars have nothing but trouble. I will not be buying a Kia vehicle again. Dont miss understand... the car itself is a nice car but the company once you have paid for the car they dont care if the patrons are having issues and they are not helping us in a timely manner. I have never experienced this at other dealerships. I have one car and I am single I expect to have repairs on any vehicles any make or model. Kia is obviously so busy with repairs to their cars they are unable to assist the customers with repairs in a timely manner.

Save yourself the headache.

Let me start out by saying I had high hopes for every encounter I’ve had with Kia based on all of JD power and his Best Associates. And this is not only a scathing review on West Herr, but Kia Finance, and Kia Corporate.
In October of 2019 I leased a car from West Herr Kia. Everything was fine except at 3,000 miles my check engine light came out and all power in the car died.
Service team was great and had it resolved.
My issue lies here….
In June of 2021, I completed a lease buyout through Ally. In NYS the dealer/leasing company holds the title until lease end of purchase. So here I am. In October of 2022, with no title, and an out of state move I’ve had to postpone twice and two job offers I’ve had to turn down.
Back in June of 2022 I reached out to Kia Finance asking them for the title. They told me they’d request a duplicate and send it to me. I waited a few weeks because I know that the DMV may take a few extra days to get this processed. No title received.
I called Kia finance again and they told me I would have to reach out to Ally, as that’s where they sent the title originally and they can’t have it forwarded to me, since that’s who the funds for buyout came from. Which is untrue. In NYS I am the owner and Ally is the lien holder.
Ally’s title supervisor has tried multiple times to request a POA on this and duplicate titles. With no luck she’s essentially given up and I haven’t heard back despite countless emails and phone calls(their review is coming too).
I called Kia Finance one last time and requested to speak to a supervisor and explain my situation. Same old lies and BS.
I spoke to the NYS DMV to make sure I wasn’t in the wrong about any of this. Nope, I’m right. They’ve even confirmed that no duplicates have been ordered and that Kia is still the titleholder despite the numerous times they told me Ally holds the title.
This leads me to go into the dealership. I speak to their manager on duty, Dan Flick. He pushed me off and brought someone from their Title/Finance department.
She handed me a piece of paper and told me to send it in to Kia finance. This has already been received by KF in the past when I initially bought the car.
So I returned a few weeks later to speak to the manager on duty. My old pal Dan. Who at the time told me that they’re too busy with it being the end of the month and that I’d have to come back.
Sure. I’ll take a half day from work to battle this again.
I returned earlier this week, spoke to the same person in the title department and was basically shooed away. However she did take a copy of my paperwork and said she would contact me if there was an issue with ordering a duplicate.
Here I am a week later. With no update. I decided to call the DMV again to see if there was a duplicate ordered. Nothing. Not one piece of information has changed.
I filed a complaint to corporate with all my documented calls and paperwork.- that was essentially a “we’ll look into it”.
I called back following a holiday knowing the DMV would be closed and this would be Kias excuse.- “we sent an email and are waiting on a response”
So to recap, I’ve lost out on two out of state job offers.
I planned on selling this 5 months ago.
Now I’ve made an additional 5 payments I didn’t intend on.
I,ve gotten nowhere with Kia Finance. Nowhere with the West Herr. And nowhere with Kia corporate.
I’ve filed a Vs-35 to the Dmv and a consumer complaint to NYS.
I’m finally hiring an attorney because i cannot even fathom what NYS laws have been broken at this point. All I want is my little, that I’m legally entitled to.
All this to say, never work with Kia in general or West Herr.

Horrible experience with Kia Cooperation. I have a 2021 Kia Sorento that has been in the shop for almost three months. I opened a claim with Kia over a month ago. I call 1-2 times a week to see any updates. I get the same story every time i call. They need more information from the dealership and they have sent the information twice and cc me in one the email. No one has called me back. i wait on hold for over 2 hrs to hear the same story.

in queue for 6 months; NO information available on 2023 models

I've been in queue for 6 months to get 2022 Telluride. Now they've changed over to 2023 model being shipped. I have to update my order with the dealer. I red rumors about new color combinations and price add-one.

There is NO information on Kia web site. There is no "BUILD" information that answers many of these questions about options and price. There is no brochure available for 2023 Telluride.

I spent hours searching their web site and Google to get this CRITICAL information.

Decided to call Kia. I was on hold for 45+ minutes. The csr asked 6 questions about me and the other 8 about the car she noted and said she'll get the answers. After another 15 mt wait, i was back in the queue!

After another 15 mts a CSR answered. She was more interested in recording my information about the call, than answering my questions about the product! She could not answer a single question about 2023 Telluride. Finally she too hung up.

With the queue so long for a popular car, everyone at KIA has become arrogant.
MArketing does not put our critical product information.
CSR does not answer calls, have CSRs who are ignorant, unhelpful, arrogant, and rude.

Is this a way to sell a 50,000 $ car?!!

Shame on Kia management and marketing. KIa's arrogance is unbelievable!

I will remember this. I'm almost inclined to hell with Kia and go to Hyundai or other car manufacturer.
