Avoid kier/living or whatever they want…

Avoid kier/living or whatever they want to call themselves these days. I had an issue with my new build 4 months moving in. It took 7 years for them to try and fix. Time off work unpaid just for kier to not bother showing up, expense on new flooring due to damage caused on carpet, money spent on furnishings. My emotional roller coaster has been immense. The staff I’ve had to deal with over the years have been rude and obnoxious. It’s sickening their apparent customer care. I’m guessing the name change to Tilia homes had to be done because looking through the 1 star reviews I’d be ashamed having Kiers advertisement. Luckily the NHBC stepped in and put another company on the job. Professional from start too finish and was resolved in a day. A job that took kier 7 years and still didn’t fix. That says a lot. The company even told be if they were brought in on year one I wouldn’t have gone through the upset and the stress not too mention the financial side. Yes the managing so called director did respond 2 my complaints and said " sorry we’ve failed you terribly” no offer of compensation apparently they do not have a compensation policy ( red flag ) so be prepared to seek legal advice if you experience any issues. I’m not going to stop as long as I’m breathing bringing the company to accountability. I will fight for my rights. Because the way I’ve been treated is disgraceful it’s disgusting!!!! Yes I’ve posted a review previously but it was removed. If this review is removed I’ll post again and again and again!!!! I think it’s time for all of those who have been let down by Kier should get together and fight for our rights. I’ve put date 2015 because this is how long I’ve been going through this until December 2024.

How are they even in business

How are they even in business! No better than con men. Countless problems with substandard products and build quality we are disappointed and exhausted by it they then 'sold' to Tillia, no actual changes to anything and more excuses. There is so much to complain about I could write a book!

Kier's follow up work

Kier's follow up work for estates they have been involved on is incredibly poor. The fault correction I am writing about has taken more than four years, with Kier finally shamed into doing anything by the intervention of the local MP. They still leave their eventual customers in the dark and not trusting the quality of their work.
Really, really poor customer relations, hiding some evidenced poor performance, and God knows what!

Absolute Cowboys

Tilia took over this development from Kier and if I could give 0 stars I would.

Nearly 2 years we have been in our home and the snags aren’t complete. We still have a bathroom with a leaking bath, a non-unusual garden as they can’t lay turf correctly , a unusable kitchen work top… the list goes on! Excuse after excuse. The odd occasion they have turned up it’s shoddy workmanship who makes the job 10x times worse than it was.
I would never recommend anyone to go through the pain, upset and constant issues. This company does not give one care about their ‘customers’. They are a money making scheme.
Their staff are non existent… infact most I’ve spoken too are off with long term sickness or just don’t respond… that says it all. They hope by ignoring you , you will finally go away! Not a chance!!
Absolute shambles of a company.
Legal action needs to be taken against these absolute cowboys.

TILES COMING OFF MY ROOF IN FIRST 6…

TILES COMING OFF MY ROOF IN FIRST 6 months

At the first I was happy buying from Kier. They sorted most of the problems we had fairly quickly. The real problems started after 6 months when the roof tiles started to come off the house. They come out and fixed it and everything was fine till the next bit of wind come and more tiles started to fall. Been in a Kier home just over 6 years now and the tiles from the roof have fallen off 4 to 5 times in the 6 years we have been there. Now they are saying that I have to go through my house insurance to get it fixed when the truth is Kier have clearly not done the roof properly. Why should I have to pay excess on my house insurance when tiles should
Not be coming off roof that much. My mum has lived in her house for 50 years and not once has the tiles from her roof come off. I did get a roofer out who has now told me that they have stopped using the tiles on my house as there was a fault with and really lightweight.

Impossible to get hold of, even to buy!

I've not even bought one yet but the sales team won't even return a call or answer a request to view the show home or talk about a plot!!! If this I'd the level of communication before then what about after? I shudder to think!

ABSOLUTE CATFISH: SHODDY PLASTERING, LEAKING PATIO, INCONSISTANT BOILER, POOR FINISHES, AND THE WORST AFTERCARE !!!!

I originally made my purchase with Kier who, prior to move in, sold the site to Tilia. How hard the crash back to reality has been now that I've moved in and I'm with "after care". Ironically, there is NO care at all.
I was due to move into my home 29/10; however, because the boiler was connected incorrectly, I was unable to move into my home until 4-days later.
Almost 1.5-month after moving in, my snag list is plentiful, and ever growing. Currently, 74-snags.
Some insight given to me by onsite is that the poor-quality finishes are due to multiple trades working on top of each other. It seems like a false economy to me, as piling trades on top of each can save money; yet, this is dependent upon the works being completed to a good standard, which sadly isn’t the case with my home, as so much remedial work is needed. Tilia/Kier should have just done the work right first time.
Prior to moving in, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure that you're happy with the plastering - my home has visible joins and stroke marks. I feel that they may have work experience plasterers finishing the homes and their work is not being checked - it really is that bad. The ceramic pipe enclosure, underneath the sink basin, is freely swinging. Floorboards are already squeaking. Patch painting, which easily shows in different lighting, reflects Tilia/Kiers poor workmanship and attention to detail. Also, my bathroom remains only half tiled and my kitchen work surface and backsplash have not been fitted. And these are only a few of the 74-snags left in abeyance.
As pleasant at the site manager has been, I simply asked that my home be finished within two weeks of Christmas. A simple request you would think; however, the site manager is prevented from making independent decisions and is therefore rendered impotent as everything must be referred up the chain. This is made worse by the fact that my contact at Central Customer Care has still not provided me any timescales for when I can expect my snags to be completed by, and moreover, has not spoken to be in two weeks.
There is so much more I would like to say about how awful and sour the experience of buying my first home has rapidly become. I absolutely feel catfished – having been sold a dream that is very much a living nightmare with no end in sight. The only person suffering is me. The customer.

Avoid at all costs

I can only echo the statements of the many unhappy people that have written reviews on here in the hope that it helps someone not to make the same mistake as us, and buy a property from Kier/Tilia, or whoever they decide to call themselves in the future.

I have copied almost word for word someone else's review, since this mirrors our experience in every way, and is everything that we wanted to say about them.

Tilia (previously Kier) promised us our “dream” home. The sales journey was as you’d expect; full of polite enthusiasm, attractive promises and constant reassurance, and very aggressive when it came to the slightest hint of delay (on our side). I suggested that we delay the exchange by a couple of weeks, which would not have just helped us, but also would have give Kier time to get things finished, but was told if we didn't stick to the original agreed completion date, then 'the deal was off!'

Having bought new before, we were anticipating having to work through the usual snagging list that typically arises with a new build property. Unfortunately our cautious optimism quickly turned to despair as we were confronted with a very long list of problems; some easily remedied (though not without a long wait) but many others major problems resulting from a real lack of good quality workmanship and serious corner cutting.

To make matters worse, once they have your money, the after-care is truly abysmal, with calls and emails to the customer service team typically ignored for weeks and months on end. Trying to escalate problems through to senior management can prompt arrogant and patronising responses, which are almost always full of excuses and a demonstrate a total lack of empathy.

This is despite best efforts on our part to remain completely amicable throughout all of our interactions.

We are now 11 months post completion and still waiting for many major problems to be resolved.

As you can imagine we seriously regret our decision to buy from Tilia and after spending half a million pounds on a house, I would have expected a much higher level of quality and customer service from them. If we could turn back time we would change our decision in a heart beat, I only wish I had the read the reviews here first.

I strongly recommend you avoid Tilia at all costs and save yourself the heartbreak and mental anguish of having your dreams ruined.

Worst house builder ever

Worst house builder ever, brought my house in February 2019, the site still isn’t finished even though we were told would be completed by the end of 2019, poor workman ship, poor planning and management they really don’t have a clue, was told the estate should be finished by the end of this year, however just been told that we now have another site manager so doubt that will happen, roads and footpaths need completing, trip hazards everywhere, you don’t see one person from one day to the next absolute joke, Barrett homes are building down the road, they started after Kier are building more homes and they’ve nearly finished! Kier sort yourselves out or whatever the hell your called now.

Poor

Worst decision to buy. NHBC have been out and agree with us.
Kier, sorry Tilia would not accept the snags, faults, missing kitchen units, poor plastering, dangerous plumbing amongst many other issues. NHBC has viewed and agreed with us on everything. Tilia has received the reports done even still does not contact us. At least now we know the NHBC will be sure it is resolved.
We intend to take Tilia to court. It has been a nightmare. Stress, sheer mental & physical health has gone severely poor. Tilia has been uncaring, uncooperative and rude. Their work, hazardous, poor, inadequate and unsafe practise.
Avoid.

Shoddy workmanship resulting in unsafe appliances

We bought our house in November 2020. We’re in an LPG gas property so aren’t on the mains, nevertheless Kier/Tilia installed a mains gas appliance without the necessary modifications, which is massively unsafe. At its worst we had flames half a foot into the air. Despite reporting the issue in our initial snagging list, 10 months down the line we still don’t have a fully functioning hob. I don’t like airing dirty laundry in public, but they were due to come last week to finally replace it and never showed up, so I’m at my wits end and trying this in a hope it’ll make them listen! Overall I have massive concerns about the quality of the workmanship- a simple test like turning on the hob would have made them immediately aware of the issue due to the size of the flames, so it’s evident that not even the most basic of checks were carried out when installing it, which for a gas appliance is incredibly concerning.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME.

Moved into my brand new kier home in October 2020 and within a month or so we had a leak in our ensuite. They came in and ripped most of it out. Finally sorted the leak about 3 months later. But we are now in September 2021 and I still do not have a functioning shower!! I have been on the phone multiple times. Multiple emails been sent with no reply. Complaints written And no reply! Legal action will have to be my next step! Do no waste your time and money on a company what doesn't care once you've moved it!

We’ve had nothing but problems with our new build. So have all our neighbors. Customer service team are awful. Promise everything will get fixed and then no one turns up. Leaking roof, broken toilets, front door falling off, shower door falling off, leaking in multiple places, flooded gardens, creaking floor boards, banister wobbles alarmingly, gutters loose and non water proof grout in bathrooms causing mould, tiles slipping and leaking. If we could we would move. Over two years and everything broken.. still have outstanding snagging.

Wish zero was possible

Wish zero was possible. Did you know in this day and age you can live with rubbish festering against your house for weeks on end in the height of summer. Buy from Kier. They will build 'social housing' for those that don't want to work and charge the maximum for a house surrounded with waste and extra for some management company that's just as useless. Waste of oxygen the lot of them.

Please avoid Kier Living (now Tilia Homes) for the sake of your health and sanity. Nightmares begin on completion day.

Tilia (previously Kier) promised us our “dream” home. The sales journey was as you’d expect; full of polite enthusiasm, attractive promises and constant reassurance, and very aggressive when it came to the slightest hint of delay (on our side).

There were also a number of examples that were in breach of health and safety standards.

As it stands were are 7 months post completion and still waiting for many major problems to be resolved. We have also had to instruct the NHBC to carry out an independent assessment as, after 2 failed attempts, Tilia have refused to carry out any more work to correct some of their failings. This is in spite of their own onsite team even telling us that the problems with our property are some of the worst examples they have seen.

As you can imagine we seriously regret our decision to put our faith (and entire life savings) into Tilia being able to deliver the home we dreamed of. If we could turn back time we would change our decision in a heart beat.

I strongly recommend you avoid Tilia at all costs and save yourself the heartbreak and mental anguish of having your dreams ruined.

Kier / Tilia… Avoid at all costs - horrendous communication and aftercare. Poor quality of build and utter lack of organisation

Customer aftercare has been horrendous. I have had to constantly chase them via email and multiple phone calls and still the snagging list has not been completed. Their communication with contractors is terrible and they regularly send the wrong information; meaning the job can not be completed properly. I have wasted days, weeks and months sitting at home waiting for jobs to be done, only for tradesmen to turn up with the wrong equipment, replacement parts or information, leading to them leaving and having to book in yet another day. The standard of building is poor, even the stairs had to be rebuilt. I have allowed additional time due to the pandemic but even now they are ignoring emails, assuring me they will book the final jobs if I manage to speak to someone directly on the phone but never actually doing it. I have complained several times over the years, but this has been ignored and no improvements made. They have rebranded themselves as Tilia but so far it is the same shockingly bad service.

After previously leaving a positive…

After previously leaving a positive review, it seems all customer service has now disappeared. Our home (a year old) has several faults, resulting in various leaks due to toilets, baths, sinks not being installed correctly. Our kitchen cupboards fell off and we were told this because they were not installed coreectly initially. Customer service have been silent following false promises to rectify issues. They do not communicate with workmen so the poor people coming to amend the problems do not always have the right tools. We have been waiting for these problems, caused by shoddy workmanship, to be rectified for many months. I have emailed and rang customer service but replies are few and far between. I have raised a formal complaint. I would have not bought this home if this was the level of aftercare to be given.
