Stayed 2 days for my sons wedding
Stayed 2 days for my sons wedding. The staff were so helpful Louie Sal and Megan made our stay most enjoyable. What a beautiful place
Walking the west Highland way
Walking the west Highland way, stopped in at the Kingshouse Hotel, its 11am, kitchen not open until 12, I ask the guy behind the bar if they do gluten free burgers, he said yes they can change the bun and will be OK.
So we decide to wait until 12, in the meantime I order a round at the bar, The cider is off and I was asked if I wanted another drink or wait until the barrel is changed. I said I'd wait, 25 minutes later I had to ask what was happening only to be told the cider is still off and I should get something else.
12:00 arrives, I order a gluten free cheese burger, only to be told by the guy behind the bar that he can only give me a gluten free bun as the burger is not gluten free, I ask whats the point of a gluten free bun if I can't put anything in it. The guy behind the bar did say that he could ask if the chef would maybe do a chicken salad for me. By this time I was too angry at being told a lie, and that everyone in my group waited for over an hour because I was allegedly able to get a gluten free burger. Nor did I want a chicken salad. I told him I didn't want it, i then sat and watched everyone else eating.
The staff service is slow and no one knows what they are doing.
Absolute joke
You got one star because I can't put zero stars.
NO DRYING FACILITIES FOR WILDCAMPERS 😡
This is my 2nd time here wildcamping the WHW and I give the wee hikers bar 5 stars as they have been brilliant everytime I have visited.
The reason I give 3 stars for this review is down to the fact the main hotel do not provide drying facilities for wet gear for wildcampers which is daft. even if u charge for the service I would have been happy with that, but nope nothing I literally begged reception staff and offered to pay and still got stonewalled from reception staff.
One very unhappy wet wildcamper.
Kingshouse Hotel, Glencoe
Stayed here over Christmas with partner and dogs. Absolute bargain. All food, entertainment, great room and wonderful service. If I could provide six stars, I would.
Bed bugs
Booked a 2 night stay for daughter and her partners birthday .They woke to find bed bugs all over bed .Horrified they went to reception and were offered another room ,which they refused .Head of housekeeping was called and went to room .More bed bugs found and 2 traps behind bed .Housekeeper stated they obviously werent working and stormed out of room .They received a cursory apology and checked out .A birthday treat ruined .My husband and I were due to travel a few days later but cancelled on hearing this .We received a full refund quickly but no formal apology and staff at hotel seemed unperturbed about finding bugs .Very disappointed to say the least
Kings House hotel at Glencoe needs to respect their visitors
Kings House Hotel is just off the main road close to Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands. I arrived there on Wednesday 18th, tired after travelling. The receptionist was unwelcoming. She wasn't capable of smiling, either to me, or to the elderly couple before me who thought they had booked a deal for a three night break, but had to be told it was only for two.
The meal in the restaurant was poorly served, and hugely over-priced (£17 for a burger and chips!!!) When it came time to settle up I was asked to pay at the bar because the till in the restaurant was broken. A big sign at reception said that 10% 'discretionary' charge was added to all bills, but could be declined with no problem at all. I asked to decline the discretionary charge. The young long-haired Australian who really shouldn't have bothered trying to look smart with the mandatory tie, told me that the full bill was what I should pay. I pointed out the sign saying the extra was discretionary and he mumbled that he didn't know about that. He insisted on calling me first of all 'mate', and then 'buddy'. I asked him not to do this - I'm neither Australian nor from the USA - but he rudely persisted. The chain that runs this place clearly do not have an effective management at local level. Do they think it is unnecessary because the hotel is the only one for miles? Staff are evidently not trained, nor supervised. If they can't provide a decent and respectful level of service, then they should sell up and clear out. I would have been better looked after at the glamping pods further down the road.
Went in on Friday
Went in on Friday , arrogant and out of her depth receptionist , totally unfriendly so we left
Faulty Towers with a view
******DONT GET SCAMMED THERES A SERVICE CHARGE ON EVERYTHING******
(Ask them to remove it on every purchase=
The most disorganised place we've ever been. Overcharged, terrible service, lots of things not available and basically a Premier Inn.
32 of us stayed 2 nights at The Kingshouse for a wedding where the reception was also going to be held. The hotel is situated in the very best of locations and that is the only reason anyone would stay there.
The breakfast service is a nightmare, they only have a single coffee machine which (and I'm not kidding here) is a 45 minute wait. During the 45 minute wait the coffee machine will either shut down or run out of coffee then the waiter will disappear frantically looking for more coffee (which they may or may not have). One guest lost his temper at waiter in front off all the guests saying exactly how everyone felt. Everything runs out and won't be replenished (bowls, cutlery, food, coffee) until you've reminded the staff numerous times. We decided to buy a coffee from the coffee shop attached which also had a broken coffee machine so no luck there either.
The food is excellent and the chefs really know what they're doing so there isn't a single complaint there. The evening 3 course meals (pre-ordered weeks in advance) came out in sporadic timing people had started their mains before other even receiving their starter. Our table asked for bottles of wine which were then to be out of stock (they still added those to our bill, more on this later.......)
Everyone paid separately at the cashiers desk having to ask individually to have the service charge removed.
After the evening dinner circus the wedding party sat down drinks at which point a staff member presented us with an outstanding bill of £120!!!! Luckily enough we had an accountant with us who sat through every itemised bill and credit card receipt and totalled it all up. Turns out that they had not removed any of the items the were ordered which were out of stock & mains added that didn't exist.
Rooms are super basic and dated, which really isn't an issue at all but with the over priced room rates you'd think they'd inject some profits in to bringing the place up.
The staff aren't to blame as such but that fact there is nobody running the show has caused this place to run worse than Faulty Towers.
Stunning hotel and location
Stunning hotel and location but staff don’t quite live up to the world class aspect. The reception girl took our room cards then watched us take our bags to the collection point where we needed…. yep, our room cards for access!
Amazing hotel with breathtaking views.
Amazing hotel in a beautiful area with breathtaking views! The room was spotlesss and the food was nice. To top it off the deer outside are not scared to come within touching distance giving you the chance to take a unbelievable photos!
Hoping to be back at the end of the year 😁
First time staying at kings house hotel…
First time staying at kings house hotel and was absolutely amazing everything from the customer service to how clean it is. We had breakfast and a lady named Megan b was fantastic highly recommended to friends and family so excited to come back.
Over priced
Was fishing in the area so popped in with a friend.
£19.60 for a pint of beer, a shandy and two pies.
I'll not be rushing back.
Very Rude Receptionist
There’s no doubt that the hotel area is good and clean but our last day was horific because of the lady named “Malina” in reception. She stopped us for entering breakfast because she said last time was 9:30. We were there at 9:24 and their leaflet in the room said on weekends its 10:00am. Luckily there’s a nice lady who looks to be a supervisor but im not sure. She accompanied us and let us take out breakfast. During the check out. I have asked for the final invoice but the lady named Malina said she cant provide. I insist because I needed it and she told me that I am making her life difficult. She even said to talk to her supervisor and she dont mind. Very rude receptionist, she shouldnt be there as they will lose clients in the future. Good hotel but staff are not too friendly. Better to try another hotels nearby. Wont go back again!
Visited the hotel for a wedding
Visited the hotel for a wedding . We stayed there for 3 nights and it was the most pleasant relaxed stay . The food was amazing as was the setting in the snow . But the one thing that really made it was the staff . Absolutely NOTHING was a problem or issue to help on anything we needed help with . From needing a needle and thread to something as simple as just sitting doen for a coffee. A special shout out to lesley and meghan who were very chatty and very pleasant and helpful throughout . They both made it even more enjoyable . (Obv being fellow glaswegians helped ). Would defo come back . Place was clean and even dogs were allowed . Was nice to see all the little four legged friends .
Stunning location, excellent hotel
We stayed the the Kingshouse Hotel for their Christmas three day package. This was our second trip there after a two night stay in the summer. We had a wonderful time, and were wll looked after by the wonderful staff there. Firstly, I can't believe everything we got for the price we paid, really well worth it. When we stayed in the summer it was on a chance, as we usually wouldn't pay that much for a hotel; however, we found that the money was well worth it and you really got what you paid for. The Christmas package was actually a steal, when I consider the normal nightly rate and everything that was included, some really great touches: talks, walks, films in The Way Inn, ski lift passes, quiz, whisky tasting, to name some.
The hotel is situated in such an amazing location, the backdrop is stunning and there are always deer roaming around. The interior, including reception area (with roaring log fire), the bar and the restaurant are all lovely, a nice atmosphere and well kept. The room was spacious with amazing views regardless of which side of the hotel you're on. The bed was comfy enough, decor smart and well maintained, as well as fitting for the location. The staff are all really nice, professional and helpful. During our staff, we were well and truly looked after by Lesley, Megan, Christina and Kate in the kitchen. I have awkward dietary requirements, and although we intially had a shaky start, the team went out of their way to accommodate me. More than that they made us feel welcome, looked after and, most of all, want to come back again. These guys deserve a special mention for sure. The food, was plentiful, fresh, obviously local, and most importantly, delicious!
We love the fact that this place is dog friendly, and although we had to leave our rescue at home due to not being able to be comfortably around strangers, the pooches around the hotel and in the bar looked like they and their owners were having an awesome time.
We'll return, hopefully with a better behaved dog in tow also. Craig the manager is both accessible and approachable, and he and his team are doing a sterling job here. We can't help but relax when we are there.
Beauty of Scotland
Arriving at the hotel you cannot believe the scenery it is befitting of the Hotel. This is one of the places you have to visit if you are ever in Scotland. You will not be disappointed with the facilities and service you will receive at this hotel.
No No No zzzz
I really wish I could be positive about this Hotel but I can't. We booked into a Signature room for the Christmas Festivities of 2019. Of the two signature rooms available, we are quite sure we were given the wrong one. We had visited the hotel in September and were told we were booked in to the other room. The room itself was quite well laid out with a stunning view. There were issues with bathroom fixings however with loose and sharp floor tiles. Whilst the the welcome was good, as was the food, the room quickly brought us back down to earth with a bump. The kitchen extractor had been left on all night and subsequently sleep was impossible. The problem was raised with staff the next morning and we were assured that the problem would be solved. The organised events that were supposed to take place that day (Christmas Eve), were quite literally out of the window. The only excitement was watching the deer from the restaurant, and the whisky tasting. There was meant to be entertainment laid on for the evening which turned up late. As a consequence the guests were offered food platters and drinks as a substitute. When we got to our room that night, the noise from the bathroom fan (which could not be switched off), and the noise from other extractor were again keeping us awake. So much so that I went around the hotel at 2am to try to identify where the noise was coming from. It appeared that the design of the building means that all the extractor fans come out around the window of the signature room, making it noticeably noisy at night. I was told by the night manager that another room would be allocated so that we could get a sleep but because the computers had crashed, that never materialised. In the morning I was approached by management to discuss the problem whilst having my breakfast. Not acceptable. He said he'd been up to our room and couldn't hear anything. He may as well have called me a liar. I was given a room to get some sleep during the day. Next to the lift. Thanks but no thanks. One of the female staff had suggested rather ludely that "I could gave anything I wanted" followed by addressing me as "darling". Completely unprofessional. The same female member of staff thought it appropriate to hide behind the curtains in the morning while asking guests if they thought the management could see her. I thought I had fallen into the Twilight Zone. The Ceilidh programmed for Christmas night was nothing less than farcical. The "dance floor" was an area cleared of tables and chairs measuring in total about 3 yards by 4 yards and topped by a trio of musicians singing largely Irish songs to begin with. It was not good. Not good at all. By boxing day morning after two sleepless nights and a dreadfully upheld entertainment programme, we decided to leave a day early. At almost £1000 for the three nights we fealt extremely let down by the management, the programme and the hotel itself. We could not get away from the smell of open fires the whole time we were there. Particulates filled the air making breathing laborious. All in all a very very disappointing experience and one which we will not repeat. We have been offered no refund, no redress by the Hotel group and have had no explanation as to what has been done, if anything, to rectify the faults we raised. I would urge anyone considering going to this Hotel for the Festive period to find an alternative. Especially at the cost.
Best Balcony View
I booked one of the Signature Rooms and it has to be the best balcony view I've ever had. The hotel is great, the staff said it was pretty new and it certainly looks that way. Room was big and comfortable. Food was also great, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. As a location for visiting Glencoe, and beyond, it is very well situated. But, that view...
