KJS Brush & Canvass Academy of Art is a Sydney-based creative education and visual arts organisation founded in 2016 by international visual artist, educator and founder Kavitha Jeyakumar. KJS is dedicated to helping children, teenagers, adults and aspiring artists develop artistic skills, confidence, creativity and a lifelong appreciation for the arts through high-quality, structured and personalised learning experiences.
Our programs include children’s art classes, drawing and painting, advanced art development, teen portfolio preparation, HSC art mentoring, adult fine art programs, creative workshops, school partnerships, corporate art experiences, art parties, paint and sip events, exhibitions, art competitions and creative wellbeing experiences.
At KJS, students are encouraged to develop both technical skills and their individual artistic voice. Our teaching approach focuses on observation, drawing fundamentals, proportions, shading, colour, composition, painting techniques, creativity and practical artistic development, with programs designed to suit different ages and levels of experience.
KJS also delivers creative and art-based experiences designed to support connection, self-expression, confidence and wellbeing. Where appropriate, we work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants through creative support sessions, subject to individual circumstances and applicable funding arrangements.
Our goal is to create an environment where every learner feels supported, inspired and empowered to grow. From a child discovering the joy of drawing for the first time to a senior student preparing an art portfolio or HSC major work, KJS provides professional guidance within a welcoming and inspiring creative environment.

We have had a wonderful experience with KJS Brush & Canvass Academy of Art. The teaching is structured, encouraging and focused on helping students develop genuine artistic skills rather than simply completing a painting.
Over time, we have seen improvement in confidence, drawing, observation, technique and creativity. The guidance provided by Kavitha and the KJS team has helped make art an enjoyable and meaningful part of the learning journey.
What we particularly appreciate is the supportive environment and the way students are encouraged to develop their own skills and artistic expression. KJS provides a professional learning environment while still making students feel comfortable and inspired.
