Safe Guard Hero - false advertising
Ordered an anti-choking device. The sales material was very slick, leading me to believe this was reputable company and product. Unfortunately it was a joke. No suction at all. I am surprised no one has been held accountable for it. It is supposed to be a life saving device but it does not work. How can a company like Kulzdevices get away with it?
Dangerously misrepresented functionality of product by Kulz Devices!
I purchased on-line from Kulz Devices on 20/07/25, 2 identical items totalling £44.99. Their function was to dislodge a food item or other foreign body from the eosophagus or windpipe when a person is in the process of choking: it is supposed to achieve the dislodgement by applying a suction when the device is placed over the mouth, that sucks out the foreign body.
The trouble is that insufficient vacuum is generated by the pumping action to remove the foreign body (and the victim dies!). I tried it on myself and was unable to detect any significant suction which means that, in an emergency, the equipment fails which makes it a dangerous item to have to rely on in emergency! The device was demonstrated on the company’s web site and looked logically plausible assuming that a sufficient suction is produced.
The reason that I purchased two of the devices was because twice my wife has nearly choked to death and I was able to prevent a catastrophic outcome by applying stomach pressure from behind her in a technique known as the Heimlich manoeuvre. It is an emergency procedure that involves a series of abdominal thrusts to dislodge the object blocking the person's airway.
After carrying out the “dry runs” on myself as well as testing the suction level that was pathetically inadequate, I immediately wrote to the company identifying the shortcoming, and eventually received a reply offering a refund of 25% without needing to return the items (euphemistically referred to by them as a “Choke Hero”!).
I then put in a complaint to my credit card company (Nationwide/Visor) about the company (Kulz Devices) refusing to cover the cost (comparable to money paid for items) of returning their useless suction device for a refund. Nationwide placed the claim into my account within a short while and after just over 2 months, determined in my favour and covered the refund without needing to take the trouble of returning their useless suction devices. Good result and, hopefully, enough dissatisfied customers do likewise to put Kulz out of business for gross and dangerous misrepresentation of their produce!
Fake goods not fit for purpose
Choke heroes x3 ordered for over 60 pounds as advert made you believe this was a life saving device and patented by someone in US or UK . Turns out it is far from safe and can even endanger life and comes from China! I returned items to China at a cost of 28 pounds and altho they refunded me after 8 weeks trying everything to avoid refund this doesn't include postage. Total SCAM. Learnt my lesson and always check reviews especially when adverts on FB or Instagram!! BEWARE.

Absolute scam. They finally sent the items which are clearly not fit for purpose and now I’ve emailed demanding a refund and I get ignored.
It looks like they’ve closed their website now, now they’ve scammed enough people!

Useless device. No suction no seal. Asked for money back. Offered 30% for a device that would not save a life.
How many people could purchase this piece of junk. Then try to save a loved one only to fail. Down right dangerous and disgusting.

Scam - Raise dispute with your bank!
Scam! Scam! Scam!
Cancelled the order within 10mins but it was still shipped. (End of July)
I refused Royal Mail delivery so it got returned to China straightaway. I received an email today about a refund within 7-10days after telling them I'll raise a dispute with my bank if I don't get my money back. Several emails sent asking about a refund. If you don't get any response, contact your bank!
If I could give 0 I would
If I could give 0 I would . These are useless . I can’t believe a company would scam people out of a life saving piece of equipment ! Thai could actually delay or even prevent someone’s life being saved !! Disgraceful . This company needs to be held accountable and banned from selling this . I bought 2 of these ! £50 . I’m appalled
I would give a zero if I could
I would give a zero if I could, absolutely rubbish. Imagine you trusted the device and someone choked to death. AVOID
How I wish I had read the reviews…
How I wish I had read the reviews before I made a purchase. This is a scam company … they do not respond to emails asking to stop or return order. Please don’t purchase from this company or else you will be kissing your money good bye
AVOID!
Omg absolute scam! This is not legit! It turned up, battered, unbranded, the masks are cheap with no tight seal to the face. The pump is bent and just on testing suction ...it does nothing. The items were dirty and the leaflet was screwed up and shoved in. As a nurse I urge you please do not buy from this company. Please adhere to Resus uk guidelines. I have emailed this company and ignored so far! Dangerous!
Item recieved after 4 weeks waiting
Item received after 4 weeks waiting, and it was damaged in transit, but saying that, it was of poor quality anyway,so I asked for a refund. Tried contacting the company twice by email...no response, so wasted my hard-earned money. ABSOLUTE CON, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY. Now recd reply giving me two options... if I want just a refund I will only get 25% of what I paid ie £7.50 or if I want to return it for complete refund it would be at my expence which apparently is about £20. Judging from other reviews I wouldnt get anything from them. TOTAL SCAM
This us a knock off poor quality copy…
This is a knock off poor quality copy of the impressive original LIFEVAC..
DO NOT BUY A KULZ DEVICE,
You are using this as a last resort as someone is potentially dying. The more you use it and the more it doesnt work (as there is no suction at all), you are likely in that moment to persist with a disfunctional device instead of reverting to proven emergency first aid CPR / Resus etc.
Buy a LIFEVAC..
when both products are side by side the difference and design and location of the valves is obvious. These people need locking up. I hope no child or Adult dies as a resilt of this product.
Another Victim
I am the latest victim of this counterfeit scam based on the reviews already posted. I ordered 2 units a few hours ago and only checked the reviews re this company after ordering unfortunately. I had read a lot of information recently where a number of devices were reviewed and ranked and the Choke Hero was highly ranked. The Chinese counterfeiters obviously took the opportunity to do what they do and market them through Kulz Devices and possibly others. The Chinese manufacturer of these counterfeit items are WNQ Group. Limited - for me another lesson learned !!!!. I paid by PayPal and raised a complaint however for this type of scam it becomes difficult answering their standard questionnaire which assumes you have received the item, reviewed it, and want to send it back etc, etc.
I bought this device
I bought this device, I thought from the main supplier £30. Instead it comes from China, what a total rip off.
It is not fit for purpose, packed and delivered up like a sandwich. They are very clever conning people, thinking you are buying British, invented by a paramedic here, DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THIS.
