Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the staff, describing them as incompetent, unhelpful, and unfriendly. Customers frequently reported difficulties in contacting the company, often encountering automated systems that led to dead ends or being passed between multiple unhelpful individuals. The customer service was consistently criticized for being dreadful, with long wait times, unanswered calls, and a lack of responsiveness. Reviewers also expressed frustration with the slow response times, noting that emails often went unacknowledged and issues remained unresolved for extended periods. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with specific individuals and departments. i just got a 160 pound fine for driving down a road with a vehicle restriction that is only visible from one end of the road. i went the right way up the road and there are already cars in the road. no reason to think it was not allowed. i did a uturn and went back the other way trying to find a space and bam. 160m quid. what a load of rubbish. They should make it more bloody obvious if its a bike lane only 1 way. money making b*stards. i cant afford it so they can stick it

Just want to say

Just want to say , if you wish to pay for your certificates to be posted to you, don’t do it …. Apart from having to wait for over 3 months to have a correction done to my certificate, it has taken over 1 month and still waiting for the certificate. I was discouraged from coming to the town hall to pay and collect the certificates and they use Royal Mail postage of £9.00 for recorded delivery- which they can’t supply you with a tracking number either… Poor service choices… use DHL as they are cheaper then the post office in the uk and they can give you a tracking number as well as it delivered in 24 hours…

Yet another council tax hike

Yet another council tax hike for very little in return. Streets are dirty and there's been very little improvements in Lambeth for the 15+ years I've lived here. Still no food waste recycling for apartments. Property prices have fallen rather than risen here because of constant building of apartments. Depressing borough to live in.

Absolutely disgraceful treatment from…

Absolutely disgraceful treatment from Lambeth Council car pound.

My vehicle was taken due to an alleged invalid disabled badge, which I was unaware of. That’s one thing but what happened next is completely unacceptable.

My wife’s insulin was inside the car, and when I contacted the pound to explain the situation, I was met with zero empathy or willingness to help. I asked if I could quickly collect the medication or if a member of staff could retrieve it for me, both requests were refused.
This is not just poor service, it’s a complete lack of basic human decency.

We’re talking about essential, potentially life-saving medication, and the response was simply “no.”

There needs to be far better procedures in place for situations involving medical items. No one should be put at risk like this over a parking issue.

Shocking experience.

The most important thing I can say is…

The most important thing I can say is the cooperation with the extremely kind, committed and competent officer Kurwahn Coote. His work means that any shortcomings of this advice can be put on the back of the head. Unfortunately, this advice made an unimaginable number of mistakes. You can see at every step the lack of communication, the lack of competence of the managers. In my opinion, no one there feels why they are there. It's sad, but local administration is a service to society, not someone's private business. However, in the end, I met a few officials there who understand why they are there. Thank you also for what they do.

Family member dying in one of the flats and terrible customer service!

A family member died in one of Lambeth Councils flats. The door had to be smashed in to retrieve her and was then boarded up with a cat still in there. We telephoned them to arrange access to collect the cat and to pick up some items (complicated by the fact that we live in the North and needed to make arrangements to get down to London) and were told on a Monday that they would get back to us in 48 hours, I called on the Wednesday and was told someone would get back to us in 48 hours. Its now 2 weeks later no one has got back to us in this very distressing time where we have lost a family member and had to get the RSPCA to save the cat, who then had to involve the police to break into the property again as RSPCA called the council first, who surprise surprise didn't call them back!

It almost seems like the longer they don't deal with this, the longer they can charge my deceased family member rent!!

I would rate 0 stars if I could.

Awful, incompetent staff who are unfriendly and unhelpful. Passed along from person to person each one even more unhelpful than the last, was even passed along to a department that didn't even deal with the issue I was trying to resolve then forwarded onto complaints - not sure why - who hung up while I was on hold. Waste of time and disgusting disregard for the people they are paid to represent.

Very disappointing experience with…

Very disappointing experience with Active Lambeth.

I cancelled my ice skating membership by email on 26 February before the next billing date, exactly as instructed. My cancellation email was ignored and a payment was still taken on 1 March.

When I tried calling multiple times from my phone number, nobody answered. However, when I called from a different phone number, the call was answered immediately.

I was then told that a “one calendar month notice period” applies and that my membership would not end until May — meaning I would be forced to pay for multiple additional months despite cancelling in February.

This notice period was never clearly communicated when I signed up. It was not included in the confirmation email, receipts, or direct debit documentation. The only cancellation instruction provided was to email them, which I did before the next billing date.

During the phone call a staff member even claimed this was standard practice and referenced PureGym, but after checking their terms myself this comparison appears to be incorrect.

Overall this experience involved ignored cancellation emails, a payment taken after cancellation was requested, poor communication, and very unclear membership terms.

I hope Active Lambeth improves transparency and customer service so others do not experience the same situation.

A deeply embedded culture of corruption

The recent flurry of positive reviews is highly suspicious.

I have irrefutable evidence of a corrupt employee of the council.

The organisation is totally resistant to engaging with the substance of the matter and providing a substantive response. All whistleblowing procedures and complaints procedures are compromised.

Perhaps no wonder then that the person in question considers themselves untouchable

Lambeth Council continues to be an utter disgrace with a very long, well-established and deeply embedded culture of corruption at all levels.

For a laugh I called the switchboard and asked for details of their counter-corruption unit. She said "we don't have one".

I rest my case.

Exemplary service 10/10

I called on a Saturday afternoon, boiler had packed up. The person on the phone was exceptionally helpful. I was given a job number and repair to be done within 24 hours. 4 hours later a very polite and helpful young man came round and managed to sort out the boiler. We have heat and hot water NOW.
VERY VERY SATISFIED WITH THE HELP AND ASSISTANCE TODAY. THANK YOU

Excellent support and genuine commitment during a difficult property issue

I would like to specifically recognise Kurwahn Coote, Liveability Housing Officer at Lambeth Council, for his professionalism, persistence, and genuine care while dealing with a serious and ongoing water leak affecting my property.

From the outset, Kurwahn was responsive, clear, and respectful. He consistently followed up on actions, chased contractors, escalated concerns where needed, and kept communication open throughout. What stood out most was his personal ownership of the issue—he remained engaged and visible rather than relying solely on process.

During a stressful time, Kurwahn’s calm and reassuring approach made a real difference and gave confidence that the issue was being taken seriously. While wider repair timelines are influenced by system pressures, his individual commitment deserves recognition.

Thank you, Kurwahn, for your continued support and dedication—it has been genuinely appreciated.

Resident parking - nightmare !

The admin area for Lambeth council resident parking permits is the worst I have ever experienced . It looks and functions like something written on an Amstrad computer in the 1980s. The Lambeth Parking ‘team’ , which seems to consist of two people, take forever to respond to emails and often do not how the admin system functions themselves. I went through months of trying to get my permit approved and had the constant hassle of contesting PCN’s while waiting. If you ever think of moving to Lambeth forget about owning a car , unless you want to end up a nervous wreck.

Lambeth council are the council that’s…

Lambeth council are the council that’s situated in the pits of hell. If you are unfortunate to belong to this borough, I’m sorry for you. They treat their ederley like peasants. The whole of that council is truly run by demons ( that come as people) they are evil. You become legally binded to them and they hold onto you and never want to let go. I have a housing application with this trash council, and I’m telling you every single one of them are incompetent, probably can’t read or write. Do not stick to deadlines and do not help people with disability. I informed lambeth that my son’s housing is effecting him as he had a massive stroke. I informed them that the accommodation they’re providing him is dangerous and put him at higher risk of seizures. The council don’t care, they don’t even bother reply back to emails or letters. I truly hate this council.

Lambeth Council once again achieves its genius level incompetence.

As usual, the website doesn't work. You can't log on, as the website says you already have an account. So you try to change your password, which never works. You send a technical request to support, which naturally is never answered.
So you phone the contact number for Council Tax..
Option 1 - To speak to a Council Representative about your Council Tax.
You press 1, which gives you two options.
1 - To make a payment by phone, or
2 - To create Payment by Debit Card, with instructions to go to the website.
So I just I get a condescending dunning letter to figure out how much I owe.
With nary a trace of human being or even a Chat Bot to speak to.

The cost of council's policies

I ask the council to work more closely with local charities and support organizations to provide comprehensive assistance to vulnerable families.
I came to Lambeth Council seeking assistance, hoping to find a safe and secure place to live. Instead, I have been placed in a situation that is worse than the one I was trying to escape.
Thanks

unprofessional system extremely poor and unprofessiona

My experience with Lambeth Council’s maintenance and repair services has been extremely poor and unprofessional.

When you call, you are transferred from one person to another, and in the end, nobody calls you back. When you send an email, you receive an automatic reply saying someone will get in touch — but they never do. Sometimes, when you finally manage to reach someone by phone, they just hang up.

Workers arrive without notice, without explaining what they’re going to do, and often expect you to prepare everything for them — moving furniture, emptying rooms — even if you are sick or unwell. They show no understanding or communication. Some just show up, spend five minutes, and leave saying the job is done.

Every time a different company comes, a new worker who knows nothing about the previous visit. They rush through everything, they don’t listen, and there is no real coordination between the council and the contractors. It’s chaos.

The cleaning and maintenance services are equally disappointing — poor quality, lack of responsibility, and no consistency. You spend entire days waiting for workers who either never show up or stay for a few minutes doing nothing.

Overall, this is one of the most unprofessional systems I’ve ever experienced. No accountability, no communication, and no respect for residents’ time or health.
