Disappointed
I recently decided to purchase a Specialized Stumpjumper Comp Alloy MTB bike that I saw on sale for 35,000 SEK at Länna Sport. Excited by the offer, I immediately drove from Fagersta to Stockholm to buy it. At the store, a helpful staff member checked the stock and confirmed that only one bike was left. However, he informed me that I couldn't take the bike home immediately since it required assembly and adjustment, and the store was closing in half an hour. I paid the price, arranged for home delivery, and left the store filled with happiness.
Two days later, I received an email stating that the parts were being collected off the shelf and the bike was about to be assembled and shipped. A week later, the bike was finally delivered. To my bitter surprise, I discovered that it was the exact bike from the showroom, still bearing the sale tag and showing visible wear marks on the braking disks and thick dust on the tires. While the bike may surely not have been ridden on a trail, it had certainly been used for several test rides.
I firmly believe this is wrong. Customers should be informed with transparency if they are purchasing a display item, allowing them to decide based on the condition and price. It is deceptive to present the bike as a brand-new item, only to send a showroom model instead.
Adding to my frustration, I found the sag indicator of the rear damper broken, indicating that no quality check had been performed before shipping. I had to use an elastic band to proceed with my suspension adjustment, which is unacceptable for a product worth 40,000 SEK.
The day after receiving the bike, I contacted the store’s customer service to explain the situation. They admitted that it was a showroom item but simply apologized and promised to inform management to prevent similar occurrences in the future. This response was inadequate and disappointing.
This entire experience has been a true joy killer for me. Even four days after delivery, I have not yet taken the bike out for a test ride due to dampened excitement.its resting in the basement. The bike itself is a wonderful piece of work, but the way I was treated feels deceptive and disrespectful. My colleagues, curious about the bike, kept asking about my experience, and they all agreed that the store's actions were not acceptable.
Länna Sport, you have left a bad mark with this transaction.
Update: 30/06/2024
Decided to return the bike eventually. Took the bike to the store and explained the frustration. They appeared polite and understanding and helped me through a very smooth returned. They also offered assistance with finding another bike of a similar performance and ride. Promised me to call during next week with suggestions. I'm satisfied with how they faced my frustration and friendliness in handling the situation.
