I booked 2 tickets from VV to LP and LP to Vientiane.
Since the internet was really bad, the lady at the VV train station suggested I take a printout, hard copy ticket next door, and I thought it would be easier to take the other ticket(LP-Vientiane) as well.
In LP, I wanted to change the train timing and emailed them but unfortunately was not able to do so as I had already taken the ticket and they suggested to go to the train station earlier to try.

I did and they mentioned they could not change the ticket and I had to purchase a new ticket despite paying a premium price for this ticket as the online booking price is more expensive.

I hope moving forward, they can imporve their system to make it more user-friendly and easier.

I had to cut short my stay in Luang Prabang as I had to take another train a day earlier instead of the one I originally booked. Because of this I lost one hotel day in Luang Prabang and had to pay for another hotel in Laos. So the service is unreliable and I would not take the train again.

Nice, but with room for improvment

Having a service that cannot be bookede online by foringers is not optimal. And neither is it that it cannot be bookede more than 3 days in advance.
The trainride it self was fantastico.

Bad booking at Luang prabang station

Today I booked the tickets from luang prabang to Vientiane. The ticket time is. 4.37 pm. But I have some business and have to go back to Vientiane before that time.
So I come to luang prabang station at 12pm for buy new ticket. When I arrived the tickets sales woman show me that the next train (14.58pm) available 2 seat. I almost finish process to buy that seat. But have 2 Laotian woman behind me so rude, they say that is they 's ticket and want all 2 seat.
And your employee , sale woman sale tickets to them. That mean have no seat for me even I come first.
If you think she do the right thing it's depends on you but everything will have a effect.

Thank you

Ignorant and unprofessional security personnel

I did not have issues with the ticketing process. The issue I ran into was dealing with security personnel at train stations. For example, I went through security and they found that I have sunscreen and shaving cream that are over 100g. I told them they are measured in grams not ml even though the signs are written in ml. Security personnel were ignorant about and would not let me through without discarding them. They were very ignorant and unprofessional. For future travelers, beware of the security process in train stations.

Got ripped by Lao Train

Got ripped by Lao Train . Cost of tickets through them is plain fraud. Three times going rate. Don’t use them at any cost.

I travelled through Laos with the…

I travelled through Laos with the Lancang train with my family, my father his wife from Isan my wife and our two kids from Vientiane to Boten back to Vang Vieng and back to Vientiane, organized by Lao Train Tickets.
Communication was perfect and the tickets were delivered in time. We received also a refund because our desired first class was overbooked due to Chinese and Thai Holidays.

Perfect service! I can fully recommend!

Despite being a bit sceptical about not receiving the tickets until 3 days before depature, we booked 3 seperate trains and received the emailed tickets in good time. All worked well at the station despite the tight security. Just don't turn up early, the stations aren't open!

Thanks for your kind review! It's worried to receive the tickets 3 days before departure, but it's the official policy of state-run LCR. Enjoy your time!

All good

This system is all a bit nuts as the tickets are only released at the last minute, Laos Train Tickets.com made it all a bit easier and we recieved our tickets as promised 3 days before our trip.
A word of warning, do not carry vapes in your hand luggage

Don't be deterred by the wait for the QR code

I will admit that I was sceptical when I booked my tickets and was emailed "that I would receive the QR code 3 days prior to travel". I shouldn't have worried. The codes came right on time and everything was truly easy to navigate. I would use this service again, if/when I return to Laos.

Good reliable service for tickets from this agency

Sure there is a fee added, but we would not have been able to get the tickets until our day of travel, and maybe have missed out on preferred train and class of travel. They were efficient and helpful. I used them again this week.

Personal items confiscated

The security guard spotted my small VICTORINOX penknife at the station and removed this together with a can of shaving foam. Using his phone and GOOGLE 'Chinese to English' translate he said that these were prohibited items. He threw the can in a clear plastic bin with a pile of other items but put my penknife in his pocket. He then used his phone to ask if I wanted my penknife back? When I said yes, please, he again typed into his phone and showed me a message saying 'the price is $50'. I was not willing to do this so he kept my belongings. I've since found out that these security guards are provided by 'Frontier Services Group' - a Chinese security company, rather than local people. An unpleasant experience.

Very sorry to hear the unpleasant experience! However, it's the operation of the train station. We're a booking agent only, and have no way to respond to this.
